It used to be better back before SDV 1.5 or 1.4 (not sure).
You used to be able to kiss your spouse at night when they were in bed and they would say something cute and adorable to you.
Alex would often say: "I bought a new pair of shorts... *blush* I just thought you might want to know..."
No idea why ConcernedApe took that our of the game when there already is a lack of spouse content.
I won SDV 1.2 and when 1.5 came out, I decided to play it again.... until I noticed that that was gone, at which point I lost interest.
(Also, I just find the game way too big now. It's kind of ridiculous.)

Country life is definitely me, but also a little completionist. Most of my farm is varied crops and all my favourites, regardless of sell price. Every single Friday I have gone to the Inn, brought a round of drinks (or pizza/salad for the non-drinkers) and enjoyed the company! Each year though, on Spring 1, my player picks a new years resolution. Year 1 was the community center, year 2 was befriending everyone, year 3 was catching all fish and cooking all recipes. Now in year 4 the goal is all craftable recipes, which means a lot of mr Qi adventures! But, enjoying the game comes first, even if that means missing a deadline to redecorate for Halloween, or taking an evening off to watch a movie with Sandy
Btw - a video on tips for how to do all craftables would be super helpful haha. Love your videos!

For the craftables I would say to just craft one of everything and then you can use the deconstructor to get some of the materials back. Or if you are lacking that 1% on something and you swear you crafted everything then you can open your save file game, check the code and there's a part that says all the items in the game and how many of each you crafted. Use the search option, search 0 and see if there's an item with "0 crafted" and then you will see which ones were left to do. That is the tip that made it easier for me at least.

Hello, Loner here. Personally find stardew valley has gotten a lot more value to me since they added the option to reduce the profit margins at the start of a new game. I'm always rushing to complete the community center, but with everything not giving you as much cash (outside of pierre/lewis sending stuff, and bbs missions/quests) it's really hard to get enough money to upgrade to the levels you'd want to get to when you want to get there. I like to rush to get things, so an option like that helps (forces) me to slow down and enjoy everything more.

I myself am a romancer. I honestly just love the relationship building in this game and the friendships(excluding Haley) that I can build. My favorite NPC's are Sebastian and Shane. I have married them both(different save files) and I have no regrets. :3
I have found that every single save file I've played I got married in year 1. I gotta have a love life before I can focus on the apple bois, I guess. It's a little weird, tbh.
In my first save file, I was a mix of the confused player and the romancer. My first day, I walked into town and the first person I talked to was the local grumpy boi.
    Shane.
I will confess this: I never intended on marrying him then. The fact that he hated my guts just motivated me to keep on trying. Then Pierre sent me the letter on the flowers and the rest is history.
The part that was confused is that I didn't really know what I was doing. I made it to year five and hadn't finished the community center. I saw that I was getting now were, so I started a new file and made a lot more progress than that one. Hooray!!
This game is one of my favorites is because it moved me in a way that is hard to describe. It feels like every single character is a living and breathing person. I feel their pain, joy, sadness, heartache, confusion, and loyalty. They all seem so REAL. Shane made me scared at that ill-fated scene at the cliffs, Emily hyped(and weirded me out)me with her dance moves, Caroline made me feel at peace with the Addison(lol different fandom) tea, Sam taught me to smile more, Abigal taught me to learn to be myself. Shane made me laugh when I felt down. Seb made me feel loved when I didn't feel wanted. They have all impacted me as a person.
    They make me, ME
I honestly don't know where id be without this game. I love it, always will, always have. I respect the loner farmers. Y'all can make millions and buy those golden clocks.
I'm perfectly fine with my buds here in stardew valley :)

Sure, I’m also focused on completing the game to 100%, but I want to take my sweet time doing it :) And even in my older playthroughs - where I often missed parts of seasonal bundles - I always knew I had next year to try again. Me and my friend were probably the only ones in our group who weren't straight up being calculative businessmen while playing this game XD She's the simple-farmlife player, and her small, chill farm is very relaxing to look at. She took 4 years before even marrying anyone because apparently getting gifts for whoever she wanted to court (i think Sebastian?) was too stressful!
I'm more the confused player, since I'm relatively new and accidentally kept cutting important stuff while clearing grass. I play to relax but I'm so jealous of some of my friends' beautifully organised, efficient money making farms!

I've played through the game 3 times, twice with my partner and once by myself, and I'd like to say that I'm a mix of what I call the diplomat and the organizer. As the diplomat I love befriending all of the villagers to maximum hearts. But as the organizer I have physical notebooks and graph paper where I sketch out dimensions for buildings/plots and do exact calculations for crops each season. My partner just really likes fishing, going into the mines, and decorating the farm so it balances out nicely :)

I'm definitely a country life player. I have over 200 hours in this game and only one save file. I didn't even know about the wiki until earlier this year, so I just found out about things by exploring naturally. I was so excited for the update too because I don't use mods and got a bit bored. I didn't know there was such a big community for the game as I started playing it pretty soon after its release in 2016, so I'm learning a lot through the wiki and videos now :)
Also, I'm married to Elliot in the game and I don't understand why the community hates him so much and worships Shane (I know, unpopular opinion)

  • @rrruby1377

I just imagine myself being a farmer and making it an RPG-like experience. Decoration and clothing needs to fit the farming-theme; Not really fond of many of the wizard shop items like the golden clock because it doesnt fit the theme and looks odd on a farm. Doing the jojo-questline was also never an option (because why would I as this character?). Crops are still a big focus because I cant imagine ignoring seasonal crops, especially during fall. I don't put items where they dont belong because I want to preserve the atmosphere. I sometimes go to the saloon in the evening just to mingle even tho there is technically no purpose for it. I talk to villagers reg. even though I know their hearts are maxed out and there is no benefit....welp :/

    • @ZijnShayatanica
      @ZijnShayatanica 2 роки тому +8

Yep, I really love this playing style. I can't side with Joja at all because, like... The game is based off the premise that you worked for them, then hated your life so much you had to leave everything you previously knew. IDK. It feels incongruous. Minmaxing also feels incongruous because it's just exchanging one tedious life path for another & I don't think my character would feel satisfied by that. Lolol

I just recently installed mods for the first time, after playing for several years! Nothing game-breaking, tho. Mostly palette swaps [because the yellow menus & bright spring/summer hurt my eyes a bit], all of the Elle's animal/farm building replacements, & some new wallpapers & floors. I also added a couple QOL mods to make my gates open/close automatically & let me harvest with a scythe. Also... ADOPT N SKIN LETS YOU GET MORE KITTIES & DOGGOS. I am everything on this list except the loner. My priorities in Stardew Valley include having the best relationship possible with all of my animals (including my cat) and with all of the characters that we can befriend including the Dwarf and Krobus in addition to managing my farm. What is not a priority for me is earning as much money as possible as quickly as possible, raising skills like fishing and combat quickly or spending a lot of time in the Skull Cavern or doing the side quests (like rescuing the Wizard's ink) as quickly as possible. I have no interest in fancy decorations and do not want the clock as I welcome the growth of weeds on my farm as I get lots of mixed seeds that way. I enjoy not knowing what plants are going to grow when I plant the mixed seeds. When we do someday get 1.5 (I am on mobile so we don't have it yet), I expect to go slow in my Ginger Island explorations and just focus on enjoyment rather than accomplishing everything in 1.5 as quickly as possible.

I am the country life player! I've been playing Stardew Valley since 2016 with over 337 hours between PC and Switch. It may not sound like a lot compared to other players, but that actually makes it one of my most played video games (second-most by only a 13 hour difference). It's also worth noting that I took a roughly 2-3 year long hiatus from the game due to it's addicting nature for me, so it could've easily been in the lead by hundreds of hours had I not done that.
I just caught my first (two) legendary fish for the first time LAST WEEK. I have NEVER completed the community center in the first year and never was it because I was waiting on a red cabbage. I think my current playthrough is also a new record, going into year 2 with 4 items remaining to complete bundles.
I don't do minmax playthroughs of any games. I don't speedrun. I just immerse myself in the valley and take it day by day.
I've been thinking about creating my own Stardew Valley OCs too! I usually just create myself. Sometimes I try to make one of my OCs whose just wouldn't fit into this setting. So I'd love to create a character with their own specific interests and behaviors and try to play the game how I think this character would want to live out their life in the valley.
I play games like Stardew Valley, Animal Crossing, and Slime Rancher for the relaxation and escapism. I really just do whatever feels right in the moment.

On the one hand, I share traits with most of the player types in both videos.. I hoard, I name my animals carefully, I'm a loner (have had the game on steam for years, on switch too and have only just now used the flower bouquet lol. Still never married yet) and a bit of a decorator. I use mods on my PC version (but its just stardew expanded and the cjb ones) and am a relaxed player.
I think the term for me is 'the Roleplayer'
The one playthru where I have finally got a date, is theme style. Chickens called Zelda and Mallon. The farmer has long red (ginger/auburn) hair and wears the green tunic type top. Farm called 'Lonlon' lol.
I've taken to getting the sewing as soon as I can, even to buying cloth from the traveling merchant, just to make the raincoat to wear when its raining.
I'm doing multiple saves, some of which are theme and some are challenges.
Fuchsia can only grow and sell flowers (and bundle items.) but can sell duplicate gems and artifacts.
Joleen is a Joja fanatic and is currently pursuing her favourite joja mart employee, Shane, with an eye on marriage (lol, my only joja playthru chars)
And Rei is my oldest save, first and only legit community centre completion. Year six and still never dated, romanced or married lol. (She's pining for the wizard Razmodeius lol)

I didn't get the whole community center done until year three, when I had some help figuring out where to find certain items, and my only friend was Linus (and we were BEST friends). While I definitely google things all the time now, it set a good pace for my game play. I was never going to be able to speed run the community center, and I didn't even know I was supposed to want to, so I just chilled out with my chickens, enjoyed a mayo based income, and spent the majority of my time foraging. I named the first one Adam, the next one Brad, then Charlie, etc. This way using the ABC method I know which animals I got first. I don't know, it was just something I did at first to be efficient but now it's interesting because I feel more attached to them than if I randomly generated names. You gotta figure as well if you have dozens and dozens of animals, you aren't gonna have much room on the farm for other stuff like harvesting hay and more importantly growing crops. Animals are just a nice hedge in the wintertime to keep money rolling in until you get the greenhouse for year-round crop income.
