    For those not on the know: "Top wo Nerae" is the original name of Gunbuster, a sci-fi mecha anime that took things way too far since it actually started as a parody of another anime called "Ace wo Nerae", which was about tennis.

    Its really amazing how far Subaru has come as a streamer. From being a normie with almost no knowledge of streaming/internet culture, to having 1.2M subscribers and a very loyal following, her willpower and energy really is something to behold. She said it's got to be hard for Gen6 since they have so much expectations and pressure to deal with, but being one of the trailblazers in the vtuber scene, an unsure and unfamiliar environment, then succeeding; is an equally noteworthy achievement.

    When Subaru celebrated having 20k subs, it was a big achievement. During those times, when vtubers are not that popular and Hololive is not that well-known and was still just starting, it was similar to having 1M subs in today's Hololive standards. During those times, 50k subs was such a huge achievement that they originally used it a goal to reach so that the company would give them their own 3d models which was also a huge thing because Tokino Sora, the one and only, was the only Hololive member who had debuted with a 3d avatar so it's like having a 3d model is a rite of passage for the talents in some way and would also give more meaning to the upcoming 3d models other than being able to see them move.
    These moments of happiness that the early generation of hololive experience with their subs count seems pale in comparison to what we see now, but it's actually kind of amazing to see how their channels grew over time and you can see how much more significant each milestone for them knowing how they celebrated a milestone that is not even 1% of what they have now.
    Also, imagine how it feels to have been one of those 200 people to have regularly watched subaru and sees this clip. It would be like having a nostalgic walk down the memory lane with a childhood friend. Similiar to being one of the 13 knights of Sora-chan, along with the other OG Soratomos who have supported Sora-chan in carrying the whole of Hololive for half a year, before Roboco-san's debut that was followed by the talents we know today.

      When you said it like that, it brings memory that I remember when ID girls at that point too (I got to the rabbit hole because of Iofi at that time) and it really an achievement when they finally reach 40K subs and it really something, and after several month later that every girl that debut always reach 100K milestone around 1-2 weeks, probably that is why I rarely feel the same hype (for new gen but still happy about it) at least until they reach milestone around 500K to 1M sub

    One of the best traits to have in life is a good perspective, like Subaru. Without it, aka, most people, nagative things really bog down like a truck, but if you have a realistic-optimistic perspetive like Subaru, even the tiniest thing can make your day. I strive to build this appreciation everyday, I'd doubt it would reach Subaru level which I presume is caused by her tough life experiences. Ya know what they say, if you're at rock bottom, the only way left to go is up.

    That last part got me thinking how different the experiences are for the girls. Subaru, along with the other girls from her generations and the ones before her, managed to build the reputation of Hololive from the ground up. Subaru started with 200 viewers (and the girls before her started with even less), but she grew that following to the massive 20k+ she has now and that was a really wild ride. That's an experience the new girls won't ever have as members of Hololive and even if something happens and they graduate, they'll still have a huge following. Even though the girls now are required to have experience, so they probably know what it's like to start small, as kouhai they can't experience growing the brand name and they have to ride on the success of the massive effort the previous generations put in. I imagine the respect they have for their senpai must be massive and that really brings home to me the enormous respect everyone has for Sora.
    I think this is what a certain "Dawg" was trying to get at a while back, but like the dubmass he is, he focused on the "how lucky of them" side of the analysis

      There’s also the consideration that later members requirements are higher. Bigger organisation asks for more experience, higher qualification and there would be tons of other candidates fighting for a spot.
      As one of them, perhaps Subaru herself, has commented, that they probably wouldn’t get through the selection process if they apply now. While I admire Subaru hard work and improvement, I think that statement is correct. Subaru started with pretty small channel, not much experience, not much skill to speak of. The last average singer in Holo JP was K…Coco, and she brings other values to the table. All of the 5th and 6th gen members are decent to exceptional at singing. EN wise, Fauna and Ame are the only ones who aren’t very good at singing. The bar had been raised, there’s no “lucky to join”, they have to out qualify other candidates for their slot. Even an accepting and easy going organisation like Niji shifts through their candidates list.
      Early gen went through a lot, but it wasn’t just them who were rolling the dice, it was the organisation as well. They took a chance on a few wild cards, and it worked out. Miko was supposed to be closer to an idol, but she evolved out of that. So were Suisei, Okayu Korone Mio Fubuki gang, Matsuri, Aki and especially a young Haato. Those “diamonds in the rough” would also need to be found and polished.

    • @dragon26940
      @dragon26940 2 роки тому +18

      @@sweetjesus4061 Its a really dumb take cause even if the newcomers have like 100k+ subs on debut, if they fucked up or are not interesting enough those numbers will surely goes down. Hence the amount of pressure is very high for them to keep on the same level of high performance expected by the viewers.

    I just love her. She and Watame both, I can't quite put my finger on what it is about their personas that I find so ... hm, attractive? That's not really the right word for it. Maybe charismatic? But neither of them are particularly charismatic imo. I guess attractive works, just platonically in this context. Anyway, they're both so earnest, and I think that's what appeals most to me about them. Kiara has a good amount of this dynamic too. I fell into the rabbit hole with zero knowledge of (or really any understanding of) anime or really any stereotypical weeb-y stuff. I think that it was a clip of one of Korone's english-only mario streams that the algorithm fed to me and then suddenly every video on yt seemed to be hololive-related.
    Regardless, I enjoy many of their fellow holomems, but Subaru and Watame are probably the two I find most appealing, even if I don't necessarily watch their streams given the language barrier and time differences, etc. They're both funny enough, fun enough, blah blah blah, but what I think is best about them are they are so earnest and diligent. I'm not one for over-psychoanalysis, but I know they've both been through some turmoil and, shall we say, adversity in their personal lives, and I wonder if that factors into their very diligent personalities. They mean what they say, they try to say what they mean, they try hard for their fans, and they go the extra mile, not because it's necessarily expected, or because it will net them greater gains etc., but because it seems to be hardwired into them as the "right" thing to do. At least, that's how they come off anyway. They both feel like they're ride or die type of people.
    I don't know how this turned into an essay. Shouldn't have written while high. Anyway, shuba shuba

    • @Shivalry1018
      @Shivalry1018 2 роки тому

      She's just being super humble. Its definitely true that they could do crazier stuff back then but you could very easily lose what little audience you do have. As a small creator the hardest thing by far is getting eyes on you. Everyone after Gen 4 has had an insane foundation to work off of. Myth debuted to 80K people watching and Gen 6 had 180K. Newer Gens also have a tried and tested blueprint to work off of. They can just copy the things that brought success to the earlier Gens. The fanbase will latch onto old memes and apply it to the newer Gens. Subaru and Fubuki for example set the standard of being a duck or a cat and the gag of denying it. You now see every new member benefitting from the meme, Kiara is a "chicken", Reine is a turkey etc. I also notice newer gens taking a lot of mannerisms from Miko, Pekora and Aqua. Newer Gens have seen what get the fanbase excited and they're building off of it. Gura, La+ and Chloe are extremely good at it, they take some of the most popular tropes and put their spin on it.
