Blue archive is meant to be fast paced game where you can just login, do skip tickets and leave it, that majority of jp players really love it and still having a huge fanbase their, looking at their fan arts and it's revenue remains decently well (last month, they earned 10million on jp alone), that has similar feel on azur lane.
Definitely nothing like Azur Lane. Azur Lane is more of a time-dedicated gacha, you get pulls for playing the game thoroughly each day, but as long as you put in the time, you can get all the units and limit break them all. Blue Archive is on the opposite end of the spectrum: you get pulls just for showing up, blitz so you don't have to run the stage over and over, and the huge majority of your gameplay will be spent in Total Assault resetting for good crit rates.

The story in the very beginning is slow but at the end of each chapter it started to pick up and sometime just escalate so quickly to the point that you don't even know what is happening anymore. (but in a good way) The story is also very wholesome but so dark at the same time.
As a side game from arknights perfect game, gacha is pretty fair, Raids are engaging ( specially Insane mode), story is pretty nice, great art, nice L2D, I wish for more world bosses. Its good, it's fast, it makes BA perfect side game with some challenge. Definitelly far from worst gacha
This is one of the only gachas I still play. I haven't done much of the story and don't go ham on all the events, but every time I've wanted a character I've been able to hit guarantee without getting fucked over. Don't know how long it will last but I will just enjoy my time until then. AL is still king tho Also fuck the pvp meta

Though one other feature I enjoy is the cafe just for the simple customization, when you play animal crossing in your life. You’ll tend to enjoy any form of furniture customization in any game that allows for it.

Gehenna is not a third reich based school. Sure all students use German firearms but they are not exclusive to WW2 firearms and their ideology doesn't fit national socialism at all Also Trinity is not British school. Some students use German firearms, some use Israeli ones, some use American ones. They are definitely Christian-themed school
This and Azur Lane are the 2 gachas I primarily play. The focus on characters and world building really make each character feel lived in and apart of their universe instead of just some gacha character. The characters are lovable and every club has their own unique and quirky traits tht appeals to many people. The lack of gameplay is one criticism in BA but just like AL, its mostly played as sort of a side game and you enjoy the characters for who they are. Although raids and events help with this lacking element. One thing I really didn't expect while playing BA is just how good the story is. The amount of world building and character interaction is not like any other game Ive played. The fun and lively interactions blends well with the sometimes dark story and it manages to make everything still feel like it exists as a part of the world. Though not very action packed, the drama and plot is really good but lacks VA. What Im trying to say is: The story is fking amazing and should not be overlooked. (this includes events stories as well). BA also has this element that makes me, and presumably many others, continue to play the game: lovable characters. Not just design and voice wise but also how they are depicted in the games. Many other gachas have this thing where they introduce a new character and it just feels like its completely disconnected from everything else. None of the characters interact nor do they share any origins. When BA introduces characters, they introduce in a way that connects them back to pre existing characters and really develops the interaction between characters which makes players feel connected to them as they got to see how they talk and react (example being the newly introduced Kazusa and how she fits in with afterschool sweets club) . I think thats why BA has such a dedicated fanbase, if you are not into this type of thing, then you probably wont enjoy BA but if you do, then you will REALLY enjoy BA. relationship stories and club stories also provide insight into characters and just make them more lovable. the L2Ds are also just top notch and really showcases the care they put into the characters. As for me, I love the characters so much I just want to play the game to see how everyone interact with each other and to see cute anime girls do cute anime things. Its just like reading a story, you like the characters and u just want to see more of them. oh and ig gacha is generous too, 100pulls a month is pretty generous if you ask me. but this translates to 1 pity / 4~ banner so maybe pick the characters you want wisely. very uncompetitive game so ofc as the saying goes, roll for your waifus. Also have you listened to the BA ost? they are one of the best osts ive ever heard in any game. The music just slaps and if u hvnt already, you should listen to it. This was actually the reason I found out about BA. YT recommended me a BA ost and I just fell into the ost hole from there TL:DR; Lackluster gameplay and can be seen as boring but, imo, outweighed by a VERY underrated story, OST and developed characters that are all likeable and feel like they all exist together in their world. A world where you cant stop but want to know more about. You are either not into this, or REALLY into this. (and no shame, its your personal preference)
I agree. Blue Archive manages to show that a good story doesn't always have to be dark and depressing, something a majority of people believe to be the case nowadays. The 1st and 2nd story volumes concern trivial topics about preventing Abydos school and the game development club from being shut down. This isn't some end of the world situation but the story shows how much this situation means to the related characters. You, as their teacher, understand that this is your student's life and dreams that means so much to them so you accompany them in trying to set things right. And, you end up doing so and nothing beats seeing them cry tears of joy in the end. The 3rd story ramps things up with more drama and thus a darker story overall. I won't go into too many spoilers in the jp story but it ends up escalating to the end of the world situation. Innocent students got tied up with the drama and were threatened to lose everything near and dear to them. Their friends, their school, and even you as their teacher. Nevertheless, as cliche as it may be, the power of friendship comes through and it can't help but put a smile on your face (especially hifumi's speech). All in all, Blue Archive's story really makes you feel like "Wow, I'm glad I was there along that journey." Just watch the 1st anniversary PV where every student from Kivotos comes to celebrate and thank you. Blue Archive just gives you such a warm feeling that I think lacks in a lot of games nowadays. I could go further on about meta and how deep it goes for those that choose to follow it but I think I've overstayed my welcome lol. This is just my opinion and thanks for taking the time to read it!
I agree with both of you on the story elements, and I’ll only comment on story since that’s what I focus the most on in Blue Archive. Gameplay wise, I’ll just summarize as RNG malding from gacha, crit, and skill rotation. (Iori why won’t you triple crit) I agree that Blue Archive’s focus on a brighter story is one of its best points. As I sometimes like to put it, Blue Archive is a beacon of light in a sea of dark depressing gacha game stories. Rather than focusing on the dark sides of humanity, what it means to be human, or other things related to such, Blue Archive’s themes focus more on the everyday real world: on responsibilities, expectation, growth, enjoying life (or not), and much more. Of course, it’s not always sunshine and rainbows in Kivotos, but that’s just like the real world too. In a sense, you could think of Blue Archive as the real world but blown out of proportions, and this viewpoint works very well in regards to understanding the games themes and messages. I could go on and on, but I’d rather not right here. Regarding voicing in the story, I personally have no qualms with the fact that the story isn’t voiced. In fact, I’m actually pretty glad that it isn’t. Excluding the now infamous Tadaima line, the rare occasions of actual voice acting make the scene stand out even more. The initial impact of Hifumi’s speech wouldn’t be as “woah” if it was just yet another voiced segment among many others. However, because it is one of the only voiced segments, it feels so much more impactful. Though, that’s just how I saw it. Obviously, you can also say that it was just Nexon being cheap, but I think that this worked surprisingly well here. Story wise as a whole, I absolutely adore this game. Not only do we get really good characters and dynamics between said characters, but we also get an excellent protagonist. Although Sensei is meant to be a self insert, I can never find myself self inserting because of the things they do. Their dedication towards helping students, regardless of their position or situation, is one of those things. There is also the lessons Sensei teaches to not just the students, but also the players, which leads back to my original statement about the lessons that Blue Archive wants to teach the players. Anyways, I just really like the story and the game’s themes. If you made it here, then congrats. I want to say more, but I don’t even know where to begin and when to stop so nah.
The thing about BA story is that Kivotos is an entire government/society that is thinly veiled under school system analogy. Every school is practically its own prefecture with police force/personal army, and cross school drama is akin to political conflicts with a dash of humor. And this is not to mention the vaguely biblical references/ implied magic in the lore and settings that makes you wary at every turn.
This game might be a hit or miss game. I was playing Arknight, HI3 (since released), Genshin, now ToF for a bit while waiting for Blue Protocol. But now I'm mainly only playing Blue Archive, Raid is a lot of fun for me, i like the story since it's simple unlike Arknight (yes, i know, that's why i said it's hit or miss) and new character doesn't overpowering existing characters. I dislike CN gacha games because of apparent powercreep on them.
I’d also add onto the fact that the devs have been pretty good at offering compensation when something doesn’t go right, along with the fact they constantly update the Road map via the games official website to stay up-to-date which is nice. And usually with each update there’s some form of QoL improvement underway. The next Update for instance currently is gonna improve upon the Crafting system and later on we will see new difficulty for raids & new bosses. Anyways it’s definitely good that newer characters tend to not be overpowered or power creep existing characters. So even if you miss out on Limited recruitments. You don’t need to worry about that since the game has a borrowing feature so long as you join an active club that has the character you need or missed.
Seriously, the fact that the best tank is still a 2 stars unit (Tsubaki) and the most broken unit is still one of the starting units (Iori, Tsubaki is also starting unit) even to this point in JP server is so impressive. I initially didn't care about the game and just playing it because I fell in love hard for Bunny Karin and Bunny Asuna (especially Karin, man she cute), after their banner over and I got Bunny Karin already (Bunny Asuna won't come home, so sad), I started to think whether I want to keep playing, then seeing the direction of the JP with not really apparent powercreep (if not there is no powercreep at all), I decided to keep playing it. Now I'm enjoying my time getting destroyed by not getting my limited waifu because I gotta save for another limited waifu that takes higher priority.
@@aceorion9792 Yep. It’s surprising that 2* star units and even 1* units can be good with the proper investment. Hm, actually perhaps MAYBE the closest power creep character is saori. She’s the only character currently that can deal guaranteed crit damage unlike Azusa since it’s random but saori’s kit essentially relies on having other arius student(s)/azusa on the field/support for her to fully be realized. Only time will tell though if Saori is gonna be one of those characters that’ll powercreep with earlier units like azusa. All this is assuming at least. And yeah lol. Can’t blame ya for being interested in the game due to the bunny Alts lmao. Both karin & asuna are cute for sure. Good luck on whoever you’ll be saving for said limited waifu’s. I’m definitely saving for S.Hoshino/S.Izuna.

About Saori, I personally don't think she will be a "better" Azusa as some people might think since, as you said, she doesn't really work alone, unlike Azusa who is a monster by herself, and hey, she can also work with Azusa, can't be a better version of her if she works better with her. Saving for fox waifu Wakamo man, I even installed the JP version just to get her swimsuit ver when her banner was live. I'm always into fox girls (and tan girls), also the fact that she shares the same VA as Tamamo from Fate just makes it even better. I am as obsessed to her as I am with Karin and Azusa. I went like 7 multis on NY Aru banner because goddamn she cute but she won't come home and I can't risk the gems I have to not be able pulling on Wakamo banner so I just go to a corner and cry. Woah that's a long save up you're planning on, I'm going to dry all the gems in Wakamo banner (in hope of getting Bunny Asuna too) and start saving up for Iroha, then start saving up for at least enough 1 rotation in Summer Wakamo and Summer Hoshino banner. I for one find myself exhausted far quicker in Blue Archive than other gacha titles I'm playing. Mostly comes down to me not being super excited by the combat system. I have seen some very intriguing videos however by people with a far deeper understanding of the characters, their potential usage and timing withing certain teams, and there is a very surprising depth to the optimization time used to clear time sensitive content. Certainly far more strategic than this short video makes it seem. Also, can we just take a second to appreciate how stellar this game's soundtrack is? Assuming one is not turned off by the genre of this game's music, its soundtracks are consistently great to such a degree that it easily rivals the best in the gacha genre. Best part of the game for me.
Awful take on the story of the game. Chapter 3 is the best story I've seen in a game in such a long time, and if it had an anime adaptation it would be amazing. Even the other chapters (especially one) have great aspects, so saying the story is bad and just highschool drama is far from true and a really bad and half assed take on it.
It doesn't really take a lot of time. I guess when you start out or need to catch up with missions it will take some time, but usually you just complete everything in 15 minutes at most per day.

I have decided to hurt myself and watch this: 1) Kivotos is not an academy, it's a city/country with Academies in it 2) There ARE males in the story and in universe, most of them are robots, dogs and cats with a few outsiders who are eldritch beings but yes, YOU are the only human male in Kivotos 3) Your comments of "Some of these girls look old enough to be the parents of the other girls" fall on deaf ears, especially when Juri the example of "Two weapons of mass destruction" is uhhhhh... ***15 years old*** 4) As much as I hate to say it the game being time consuming is true, clearing stages is a pain in the ass, but if you account for the fact smaller battles will be eliminated in the near future (Albeit the resource Crunch is gonna suck) then you can spend more time focusing on moving your girls on the grid and ignore time consuming battles 5) Weapon type =/= niche or role in the game, the one thing that does impress me is how many setups and teams exist - every girl has their own element, niche, and terrain type: 6) The example team of Hanae/Hibiki/Pina/Asuna/Hasumi/Hanako is also a very gross misunderstanding of the game, you have 3 Special and 3 striker units which is an illegal move, teams are 4 strikers and 2 special units - Hanako is a special unit, in terms of Formation Asuna is an odd one out considering the other girls on the squad have suitable elemental advantage but Asuna is most likely at a disadvantage (Assuming you are running yellow armor content like the gameplay shows), additionally unless you are healing a lot you're shit out of luck when it comes to team please use Yuuka or Tsubaki ffs Listen I play specifically around big charming personalities and even I can tell you there's more to teambuilding than jerking off smh 7) Yo dawg I'm happy you're happy with your starter pack but ffs homeboy there are hot waifus you should be saving for to fill out your roster AND make your dick happy. Sweeping endlessly on low stages is a waste of AP because You will run out of units to level and gear to upgrade 8) Sir I get you're playing the bit of the "Jealous Highschoolers" a bit too much but ffs homeboy level your skills, you don't realize how big of a difference they make, like holy fuck I raised Hanae's sub to lvl 9 and I managed to deal enough damage to shave an entire team of a total assault, not that you'd know what that is 9) I get not liking crafting, there's a big QoL overhaul in literally a couple days for crafting which will make it suck less and allow you to craft gifts to raise affection 10) The story manages to intriguing without the use of angst or high sctakes by the use of Mystery, you don't know what what the girls are or how they came to be or the religious subtext and so on, I implore you to read further you won't regret it, you lack imagination to speculate 11) ***NIGGA YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TOTAL ASSAULT UNLOCKED TRY DOING PEROROZILLA WITH YOUR 3 SPECIALIST COMP WITH 0 SKILLS AND SEE HOW THAT PANS OUT FOR YOU, TRY SCRIMMAGE TOO*** thing is story stages and even hard is an absolute meme. I cleared the entirety of the main stages and up to hard 15-3 without Hibiki, Iori or any meta units, just about anything can work to clear main story, most the challenge in this game is event challenge stages, getting platinum in total assault and content like Scrimmage 12) Arknights has chibis too
I love it. The story isn't mouthful and putting more words into it to appear smarter. I read through 30 momo talks today and still want to read more, because it gets to the point and doesn't take longer than 5 min to get through. (Momotalks are small cutscenes with a specific girl.) The combat can be tedious but because of the free unlimited swipe system i totally welcome it. I rather have this than waiting out several minutes for my operators to clear the same stage again in Arknights. You didn't even hit the fun part for this gacha game. Total Assault, Events challange stages and Scrimmage. Of course not having specific unit can hurt but you can always try to find your flavor. Weird that you got stuck at the well developed girls yet most people gave the nickname for this game cunny archive.

The only thing i disliked about the game is that it's just passive gameplay wise.They just push enemies and you use skills on them and sometimes bait them with healing item to move away from AoE. And honestly that was it.I enjoyed story,bank robbing,waifus,graphics,their personal story and how easy it is later to farm stuff in this game.It's just that i like more active games like Punishing Gray Raven. Btw Izuna and Wakamo best waifus.
This game is my Daily Driver. I know you said you didn't like the story because it's just high school drama... That's only because you didn't get far enough into it. The point we are at in the story now is dark and heavy. The Eden Treaty is awesome! One of things I love most about this game is the UI. Most gacha games are overwhelming. There are banners, buttons and all kinds of things littered across the screen. Blue Archive just puts all the important stuff along the bottom of the screen and the texts, notices, achievements in this little square on the left side. Also... Waifus. Azusa, Hina, Wakamo, and Izuna, Shiroko, Aru, Serika, Haruna, etc. Simply the best collection of Waifus.
I actually really like how Blue Archive plays, there's fair amount of strategy involved in the way you build your team, and what skills you use. It's totally possible to clear stages which have recommended level over 20 that of your own. But what I don't like so much is how hard the game goes on the school setting. It's honestly a bit silly that all the girls that you can recruit (except one) are all teenagers, with most of them being 15-17 years old. Kivotos as setting is varied enough that they could have easily changed some parts to make some characters bit older, maybe instead of everything being school clubs, some could be just general things characters have given their allegiance to. It's not hard to imagine Justice Realization Committee (or other organizations like that) as being made of people (some of them school-aged) who feel the need to enforce justice of the city. I'm not even asking for everybody to stop being teens, but having some more adults in the mix would have been nice, for me at least. But yeah, fun game with nice characters and cool stories.
This is one gacha that I never thought I would stay and completely stay because of this atmosphere that just exudes laidback and casual fun, I haven't read the story yet because I want to protect my image of this game(I don't want to get depressed yet). I cant remember why i quit this game back then. Maybe it was tedious to farm so many things at once and giving lot of attentions into strategy and meta that available on that time. I accomplish my missions where i got the top 1 spot pvp in global and thats all i need. Soon after that, i quit the game to focus myself on other games. I can say that you should give a try at least once. the gameplay is fun, the storyplot is great and the girls has their own unique personalities.
Not the worst gacha gottah disagree its one if not the most successful gachas out there done right. Very free to play friendly gives out gems a lot of times to help you hit pity and has fan art for days and a huge revenue income. I can tell you dont play the game daily and you are off an on in this game by the units you showed yourself using in your runs. This game is very easy to understand, easy to gear up your characters and easy to lvl up thier skills if you focus and know how the game works. It's def not the worst gacha game some people just don't understand the game but that's understandable when you are a casual player.

Game does have a pity the pity is 200 pulls which is 24k pyroxenes lmao very easy to save up too. If it wasn't fun it wouldn't be so successful as it already has been. Then again fun is subjective anyway according to the person.

Thr 200 pity is a non issue and not bad as you make it out to be with the amount if crystals they give us but you wouldn't know that if you never played which is what generates uninformed comments like yours. Rng is an every gacha game you either get hit pity or you don't idk why that's even up for debate that's common knowledge. It still remains a gacha done right which is why its so successful. Also yes it is very easy to save up 24k if you can't do that its because you have terrible self control and pull every chance you get.
You're missing one thing about Asian culture. To many, they look back at high school as the best years of their lives. It's a big reason why so many manga and anime take place during that time. Compare to the West, and we often look at high school as an ordeal to get through and afterwards is when our lives really begin. That being said, I like Blue Archive. It's not complicated. It doesn't take long to get through the daily activities. The stories are entertaining. It's reasonably generous with gems to make gatcha pulls, even if the rates are not that good. Yes, I do think they sexualize the girls a little much at times, but that's hardly confined to this one game. Tsuguri is best girl.

Strats and all that jazz only really get into play for extreme and above raids. It's a jp gacha through and through, the start is hella fuckin slow and simple so if you're one of those who played AK or the like where you're kinda asked to use some brain juices, this game might put you to sleep. That soundtrack list though.... that goddamn banger list of soundtrack. MMMM
It's a really good side game, something to do in between activities or even something to waste a bit of time. The only thing I hate about this game is that I can't control my students in PVP there is no AI as it only attacks in it's given attack patterns and doesn't change which results in me losing matches where I easily could have won, pisses me the hell off
I only agree about aesthetics and the like, because that part is actually different from person to person. Everything else I disagree with especially in regards to gameplay. I thought the same before trying this game. It's just easy and automatic. That's when I was wrong. Later on in the mid game you actually have to pay attention to what you are doing, what types of enemies you have and be able to coordinate multiple teams or else you are just going to make your life miserable. Raids is one big example of, if you are just actually mindlessly doing stuff, you won't get anywhere. THAT SAID, it is not at the level of intricacy like Arknights. Don't get me wrong I said you had to pay really good attention, I didn't say it was complex. In regards to F2P, this is honestly one of the most F2P gachas out there right now. Not even joking. The developers hand out rolls like they owe you money. It makes my main gacha game (AK) look damn stingy. So yeah, this game shouldn't even be near this "Worst Gacha Ever?" series. There's a reason why right now it's one of the profitable gachas according to the earnings report.

I agree, the game is good, but leveling up the chaaracters and is so hard, the dificulty curve, no, i just didint care, anymore, leveling up the haracters it cosst too much
this game is more of a chill game for me... at least when it doesn't come to the gacha. other games i play really requires attention and Blue Archive definitely requires less concentration than my other games, except when i want to rank high in the raid leaderboard. Blue Archive's stories (main and side story) are also really easy to get into with how well they present it, even though it's just mostly reading. i'd recommend to people, but only after i tell them what the game does terribly.
full review is.. game is great especially it's story & beautiful L2d, he just not into School Drama stuff so he stopped playing more in order to unlock more stories & that's why he don't know what he missed.. if you unlocked more stories then you'll realize this game isn't only about School drama but more than that. still it's up to people's preference. for giving you an idea about this game it's a casual game or you can see this game between AzurLane(The horniest game) & Arknights(Depression is all ik). @@raiiinnych.4439 still I do think game itself now become harder than before especially for new players. back then before this current new update you had many options but now it limited.. for example take Crafting option, in old version you could use those Student Gears' level up *Crystals* & Activity Reports in order to unlock Secondary node(20 crystals or 20 Activity reports enough to unlock it) but now Nexon removed them & want you to use your hard earned Tech Notes & other valuable materials, plus this new update took game original punchy colors & now game looks more dull to me or maybe it just my eyes because of had no enough sleep? idk but for me Iori used to be tan side & now after the update she looks like someone put too much white make up on her face, same goes with Momoi ik her fruity eye catchy colors very well but now they don't attract my eyes anymore, also I'll gonna miss old style *Tasks* option.. it was the only place where you could have some peace time without any Student, Schale workers & Arona's interference while you collecting your rewards. I hope they fixes these issues & make easier for new players
you can compare BA's story with ToAru.. slice-of-life/comedy on the surface, great action/drama/fantasy deep down... also great localization team,.. the translations are top-notch, dialogues are super witty and enjoyable.
I actually like this, arknight sometimes really pain to play because i actually dont like thinking that much while playing a game. I prefer something like reactive over strategy type of gaming. Story isnt special but i like how the characters interacting to each other since i like atelier and tales of franchise in the first place where their character interaction is often better than their main story. The only criticism i have is some of the dialogue that feels like cane from eroge, these high schoolers are so thirsty for us MC, its fucking weird to play. Their design is no different, some of them are just waaaaay too suggestive for my taste, the "older" Lookin one are okay i guess, but the "younger" Lookin one disturb the hell out of me, i guess its just matter of preference. Thats why i like my karin.
Also, BA gacha seems horrible, while the global BA can easily skip banners and choose whoever they want to pull, it also bad because they try to catch up with JP, making lot of players skipping a lot of characters and maybe forced some of them to use their cash to get what they want.
I love BA (mainly the story) and the raids but it became tedious so I quit and also the pvp. I could recommend this who's into JK's running around with guns and 0:49 why?
The only thing I hate about this game is that you're gonna be punished if you don't plan out your pyroxenes well. If you're the kind of player who summons for fun, this game isn't for you. You need to make sure you have enough stash or else you're just gonna be disappointed. That 2.5% rate isn't as good as you think it is. In other aspects though such as gameplay, aesthetic and design, the game is very beautiful and well-made. Especially the adorable 3D chibi models in battles. Love that. The only thing I wish Priconne had too lol
I played the 1st day of the game but hated the combat so i quit and now i kinda regret i started 5 days ago and combat is not that bad hope the game gonna live long
@@Stixxy Yes, off rates and low rates for 3 stars everywhere on focused banners. Even if the 1.5 anniversary will be better bc of the increase in rates, I wont come back on it since the main quest takes too long to finish. I dont have time for everything
Well, this game doesn't look like the kind that would become my main squeeze, but it certainly looks more interesting and unique than like 90% of the market with all its school drama and the cover to cover run and gun combat. Even if it is heavily automated.
The progression is slow?? I mean yeah, It took me almost a month to reach Level 47 But it's nowhere very slow progression like you said, Some contents don't need to meet Rec level maybe stop playing with Auto? Utilize your skill to the max, each stage only took like 2-6 mins

I love the music, the future aesthetic with cyan and white color scheme, and that's it. Character designs are hit or miss, story is barely mediocre, and gameplay is really is simple in a bad, boring way BTW I really don't like how the teacher is always creepy towards his students

Good musics, (mostly) memorable characters, weird but interesting world building, pretty good stories (main and sides), pretty bad gacha (compared to AL and AK), very grindy.
Blue archive is meant to be fast paced game where you can just login, do skip tickets and leave it, that majority of jp players really love it and still having a huge fanbase their, looking at their fan arts and it's revenue remains decently well (last month, they earned 10million on jp alone), that has similar feel on azur lane.

Definitely nothing like Azur Lane. Azur Lane is more of a time-dedicated gacha, you get pulls for playing the game thoroughly each day, but as long as you put in the time, you can get all the units and limit break them all. Blue Archive is on the opposite end of the spectrum: you get pulls just for showing up, blitz so you don't have to run the stage over and over, and the huge majority of your gameplay will be spent in Total Assault resetting for good crit rates.

The story in the very beginning is slow but at the end of each chapter it started to pick up and sometime just escalate so quickly to the point that you don't even know what is happening anymore. (but in a good way)
The story is also very wholesome but so dark at the same time.
As a side game from arknights perfect game, gacha is pretty fair, Raids are engaging ( specially Insane mode), story is pretty nice, great art, nice L2D, I wish for more world bosses. Its good, it's fast, it makes BA perfect side game with some challenge. Definitelly far from worst gacha
This is one of the only gachas I still play. I haven't done much of the story and don't go ham on all the events, but every time I've wanted a character I've been able to hit guarantee without getting fucked over. Don't know how long it will last but I will just enjoy my time until then. AL is still king tho

Anyways, the events, characters & stories are definitely the highlights for the game.
Though one other feature I enjoy is the cafe just for the simple customization, when you play animal crossing in your life. You’ll tend to enjoy any form of furniture customization in any game that allows for it.
My guy the story is the best part of this game.

This and Azur Lane are the 2 gachas I primarily play. The focus on characters and world building really make each character feel lived in and apart of their universe instead of just some gacha character. The characters are lovable and every club has their own unique and quirky traits tht appeals to many people.
The lack of gameplay is one criticism in BA but just like AL, its mostly played as sort of a side game and you enjoy the characters for who they are. Although raids and events help with this lacking element.
One thing I really didn't expect while playing BA is just how good the story is. The amount of world building and character interaction is not like any other game Ive played. The fun and lively interactions blends well with the sometimes dark story and it manages to make everything still feel like it exists as a part of the world. Though not very action packed, the drama and plot is really good but lacks VA. What Im trying to say is: The story is fking amazing and should not be overlooked. (this includes events stories as well).
BA also has this element that makes me, and presumably many others, continue to play the game: lovable characters. Not just design and voice wise but also how they are depicted in the games. Many other gachas have this thing where they introduce a new character and it just feels like its completely disconnected from everything else. None of the characters interact nor do they share any origins. When BA introduces characters, they introduce in a way that connects them back to pre existing characters and really develops the interaction between characters which makes players feel connected to them as they got to see how they talk and react (example being the newly introduced Kazusa and how she fits in with afterschool sweets club) . I think thats why BA has such a dedicated fanbase, if you are not into this type of thing, then you probably wont enjoy BA but if you do, then you will REALLY enjoy BA. relationship stories and club stories also provide insight into characters and just make them more lovable. the L2Ds are also just top notch and really showcases the care they put into the characters.
As for me, I love the characters so much I just want to play the game to see how everyone interact with each other and to see cute anime girls do cute anime things. Its just like reading a story, you like the characters and u just want to see more of them.
oh and ig gacha is generous too, 100pulls a month is pretty generous if you ask me. but this translates to 1 pity / 4~ banner so maybe pick the characters you want wisely. very uncompetitive game so ofc as the saying goes, roll for your waifus.
Also have you listened to the BA ost? they are one of the best osts ive ever heard in any game. The music just slaps and if u hvnt already, you should listen to it. This was actually the reason I found out about BA. YT recommended me a BA ost and I just fell into the ost hole from there
TL:DR; Lackluster gameplay and can be seen as boring but, imo, outweighed by a VERY underrated story, OST and developed characters that are all likeable and feel like they all exist together in their world. A world where you cant stop but want to know more about. You are either not into this, or REALLY into this. (and no shame, its your personal preference)
I agree. Blue Archive manages to show that a good story doesn't always have to be dark and depressing, something a majority of people believe to be the case nowadays.
The 1st and 2nd story volumes concern trivial topics about preventing Abydos school and the game development club from being shut down. This isn't some end of the world situation but the story shows how much this situation means to the related characters. You, as their teacher, understand that this is your student's life and dreams that means so much to them so you accompany them in trying to set things right. And, you end up doing so and nothing beats seeing them cry tears of joy in the end.
The 3rd story ramps things up with more drama and thus a darker story overall. I won't go into too many spoilers in the jp story but it ends up escalating to the end of the world situation. Innocent students got tied up with the drama and were threatened to lose everything near and dear to them. Their friends, their school, and even you as their teacher. Nevertheless, as cliche as it may be, the power of friendship comes through and it can't help but put a smile on your face (especially hifumi's speech).
All in all, Blue Archive's story really makes you feel like "Wow, I'm glad I was there along that journey." Just watch the 1st anniversary PV where every student from Kivotos comes to celebrate and thank you. Blue Archive just gives you such a warm feeling that I think lacks in a lot of games nowadays.
I could go further on about meta and how deep it goes for those that choose to follow it but I think I've overstayed my welcome lol. This is just my opinion and thanks for taking the time to read it!
I agree with both of you on the story elements, and I’ll only comment on story since that’s what I focus the most on in Blue Archive. Gameplay wise, I’ll just summarize as RNG malding from gacha, crit, and skill rotation. (Iori why won’t you triple crit)
I agree that Blue Archive’s focus on a brighter story is one of its best points. As I sometimes like to put it, Blue Archive is a beacon of light in a sea of dark depressing gacha game stories. Rather than focusing on the dark sides of humanity, what it means to be human, or other things related to such, Blue Archive’s themes focus more on the everyday real world: on responsibilities, expectation, growth, enjoying life (or not), and much more. Of course, it’s not always sunshine and rainbows in Kivotos, but that’s just like the real world too. In a sense, you could think of Blue Archive as the real world but blown out of proportions, and this viewpoint works very well in regards to understanding the games themes and messages. I could go on and on, but I’d rather not right here.
Regarding voicing in the story, I personally have no qualms with the fact that the story isn’t voiced. In fact, I’m actually pretty glad that it isn’t. Excluding the now infamous Tadaima line, the rare occasions of actual voice acting make the scene stand out even more. The initial impact of Hifumi’s speech wouldn’t be as “woah” if it was just yet another voiced segment among many others. However, because it is one of the only voiced segments, it feels so much more impactful. Though, that’s just how I saw it. Obviously, you can also say that it was just Nexon being cheap, but I think that this worked surprisingly well here.
Story wise as a whole, I absolutely adore this game. Not only do we get really good characters and dynamics between said characters, but we also get an excellent protagonist. Although Sensei is meant to be a self insert, I can never find myself self inserting because of the things they do. Their dedication towards helping students, regardless of their position or situation, is one of those things. There is also the lessons Sensei teaches to not just the students, but also the players, which leads back to my original statement about the lessons that Blue Archive wants to teach the players.
Anyways, I just really like the story and the game’s themes. If you made it here, then congrats. I want to say more, but I don’t even know where to begin and when to stop so nah.

Well I totally disagree with you about the BA story, it's better than a lot of anime nowadays.
Not exactly a high bar mate
The thing about BA story is that Kivotos is an entire government/society that is thinly veiled under school system analogy. Every school is practically its own prefecture with police force/personal army, and cross school drama is akin to political conflicts with a dash of humor. And this is not to mention the vaguely biblical references/ implied magic in the lore and settings that makes you wary at every turn.
This game might be a hit or miss game. I was playing Arknight, HI3 (since released), Genshin, now ToF for a bit while waiting for Blue Protocol. But now I'm mainly only playing Blue Archive, Raid is a lot of fun for me, i like the story since it's simple unlike Arknight (yes, i know, that's why i said it's hit or miss) and new character doesn't overpowering existing characters.
I dislike CN gacha games because of apparent powercreep on them.

I’d also add onto the fact that the devs have been pretty good at offering compensation when something doesn’t go right, along with the fact they constantly update the Road map via the games official website to stay up-to-date which is nice.
And usually with each update there’s some form of QoL improvement underway.
The next Update for instance currently is gonna improve upon the Crafting system and later on we will see new difficulty for raids & new bosses.
Anyways it’s definitely good that newer characters tend to not be overpowered or power creep existing characters. So even if you miss out on Limited recruitments. You don’t need to worry about that since the game has a borrowing feature so long as you join an active club that has the character you need or missed.
Seriously, the fact that the best tank is still a 2 stars unit (Tsubaki) and the most broken unit is still one of the starting units (Iori, Tsubaki is also starting unit) even to this point in JP server is so impressive. I initially didn't care about the game and just playing it because I fell in love hard for Bunny Karin and Bunny Asuna (especially Karin, man she cute), after their banner over and I got Bunny Karin already (Bunny Asuna won't come home, so sad), I started to think whether I want to keep playing, then seeing the direction of the JP with not really apparent powercreep (if not there is no powercreep at all), I decided to keep playing it.
Now I'm enjoying my time getting destroyed by not getting my limited waifu because I gotta save for another limited waifu that takes higher priority.
@@aceorion9792 Yep. It’s surprising that 2* star units and even 1* units can be good with the proper investment. Hm, actually perhaps MAYBE the closest power creep character is saori. She’s the only character currently that can deal guaranteed crit damage unlike Azusa since it’s random but saori’s kit essentially relies on having other arius student(s)/azusa on the field/support for her to fully be realized.
Only time will tell though if Saori is gonna be one of those characters that’ll powercreep with earlier units like azusa. All this is assuming at least.

About Saori, I personally don't think she will be a "better" Azusa as some people might think since, as you said, she doesn't really work alone, unlike Azusa who is a monster by herself, and hey, she can also work with Azusa, can't be a better version of her if she works better with her.
Saving for fox waifu Wakamo man, I even installed the JP version just to get her swimsuit ver when her banner was live. I'm always into fox girls (and tan girls), also the fact that she shares the same VA as Tamamo from Fate just makes it even better. I am as obsessed to her as I am with Karin and Azusa. I went like 7 multis on NY Aru banner because goddamn she cute but she won't come home and I can't risk the gems I have to not be able pulling on Wakamo banner so I just go to a corner and cry.

I for one find myself exhausted far quicker in Blue Archive than other gacha titles I'm playing.
Mostly comes down to me not being super excited by the combat system.
I have seen some very intriguing videos however by people with a far deeper understanding of the characters, their potential usage and timing withing certain teams, and there is a very surprising depth to the optimization time used to clear time sensitive content. Certainly far more strategic than this short video makes it seem.
Also, can we just take a second to appreciate how stellar this game's soundtrack is?
Assuming one is not turned off by the genre of this game's music, its soundtracks are consistently great to such a degree that it easily rivals the best in the gacha genre.

Awful take on the story of the game. Chapter 3 is the best story I've seen in a game in such a long time, and if it had an anime adaptation it would be amazing. Even the other chapters (especially one) have great aspects, so saying the story is bad and just highschool drama is far from true and a really bad and half assed take on it.

It doesn't really take a lot of time. I guess when you start out or need to catch up with missions it will take some time, but usually you just complete everything in 15 minutes at most per day.

I have decided to hurt myself and watch this:
1) Kivotos is not an academy, it's a city/country with Academies in it
2) There ARE males in the story and in universe, most of them are robots, dogs and cats with a few outsiders who are eldritch beings but yes, YOU are the only human male in Kivotos
3) Your comments of "Some of these girls look old enough to be the parents of the other girls" fall on deaf ears, especially when Juri the example of "Two weapons of mass destruction" is uhhhhh... ***15 years old***
4) As much as I hate to say it the game being time consuming is true, clearing stages is a pain in the ass, but if you account for the fact smaller battles will be eliminated in the near future (Albeit the resource Crunch is gonna suck) then you can spend more time focusing on moving your girls on the grid and ignore time consuming battles
5) Weapon type =/= niche or role in the game, the one thing that does impress me is how many setups and teams exist - every girl has their own element, niche, and terrain type:
6) The example team of Hanae/Hibiki/Pina/Asuna/Hasumi/Hanako is also a very gross misunderstanding of the game, you have 3 Special and 3 striker units which is an illegal move, teams are 4 strikers and 2 special units - Hanako is a special unit, in terms of Formation Asuna is an odd one out considering the other girls on the squad have suitable elemental advantage but Asuna is most likely at a disadvantage (Assuming you are running yellow armor content like the gameplay shows), additionally unless you are healing a lot you're shit out of luck when it comes to team please use Yuuka or Tsubaki ffs Listen I play specifically around big charming personalities and even I can tell you there's more to teambuilding than jerking off smh
7) Yo dawg I'm happy you're happy with your starter pack but ffs homeboy there are hot waifus you should be saving for to fill out your roster AND make your dick happy. Sweeping endlessly on low stages is a waste of AP because You will run out of units to level and gear to upgrade
8) Sir I get you're playing the bit of the "Jealous Highschoolers" a bit too much but ffs homeboy level your skills, you don't realize how big of a difference they make, like holy fuck I raised Hanae's sub to lvl 9 and I managed to deal enough damage to shave an entire team of a total assault, not that you'd know what that is
9) I get not liking crafting, there's a big QoL overhaul in literally a couple days for crafting which will make it suck less and allow you to craft gifts to raise affection
10) The story manages to intriguing without the use of angst or high sctakes by the use of Mystery, you don't know what what the girls are or how they came to be or the religious subtext and so on, I implore you to read further you won't regret it, you lack imagination to speculate
11) ***NIGGA YOU DON'T EVEN HAVE TOTAL ASSAULT UNLOCKED TRY DOING PEROROZILLA WITH YOUR 3 SPECIALIST COMP WITH 0 SKILLS AND SEE HOW THAT PANS OUT FOR YOU, TRY SCRIMMAGE TOO*** thing is story stages and even hard is an absolute meme. I cleared the entirety of the main stages and up to hard 15-3 without Hibiki, Iori or any meta units, just about anything can work to clear main story, most the challenge in this game is event challenge stages, getting platinum in total assault and content like Scrimmage

I love it. The story isn't mouthful and putting more words into it to appear smarter. I read through 30 momo talks today and still want to read more, because it gets to the point and doesn't take longer than 5 min to get through. (Momotalks are small cutscenes with a specific girl.)
The combat can be tedious but because of the free unlimited swipe system i totally welcome it. I rather have this than waiting out several minutes for my operators to clear the same stage again in Arknights.
You didn't even hit the fun part for this gacha game. Total Assault, Events challange stages and Scrimmage. Of course not having specific unit can hurt but you can always try to find your flavor. Weird that you got stuck at the well developed girls yet most people gave the nickname for this game cunny archive.

The only thing i disliked about the game is that it's just passive gameplay wise.They just push enemies and you use skills on them and sometimes bait them with healing item to move away from AoE.
And honestly that was it.I enjoyed story,bank robbing,waifus,graphics,their personal story and how easy it is later to farm stuff in this game.It's just that i like more active games like Punishing Gray Raven.

This game is my Daily Driver. I know you said you didn't like the story because it's just high school drama... That's only because you didn't get far enough into it. The point we are at in the story now is dark and heavy. The Eden Treaty is awesome!
One of things I love most about this game is the UI. Most gacha games are overwhelming. There are banners, buttons and all kinds of things littered across the screen. Blue Archive just puts all the important stuff along the bottom of the screen and the texts, notices, achievements in this little square on the left side.
Also... Waifus. Azusa, Hina, Wakamo, and Izuna, Shiroko, Aru, Serika, Haruna, etc. Simply the best collection of Waifus.
I love this game for the comedy and how ridiculously fun and silly it gets out of nowhere. The music also bops.

I actually really like how Blue Archive plays, there's fair amount of strategy involved in the way you build your team, and what skills you use. It's totally possible to clear stages which have recommended level over 20 that of your own.
But what I don't like so much is how hard the game goes on the school setting. It's honestly a bit silly that all the girls that you can recruit (except one) are all teenagers, with most of them being 15-17 years old.
Kivotos as setting is varied enough that they could have easily changed some parts to make some characters bit older, maybe instead of everything being school clubs, some could be just general things characters have given their allegiance to. It's not hard to imagine Justice Realization Committee (or other organizations like that) as being made of people (some of them school-aged) who feel the need to enforce justice of the city. I'm not even asking for everybody to stop being teens, but having some more adults in the mix would have been nice, for me at least.
But yeah, fun game with nice characters and cool stories.
This is why I love Japan bc u might get a chance to experience an anime scenario that you will treasure with ur life.

I cant remember why i quit this game back then. Maybe it was tedious to farm so many things at once and giving lot of attentions into strategy and meta that available on that time. I accomplish my missions where i got the top 1 spot pvp in global and thats all i need. Soon after that, i quit the game to focus myself on other games.
I can say that you should give a try at least once. the gameplay is fun, the storyplot is great and the girls has their own unique personalities.
Not the worst gacha gottah disagree its one if not the most successful gachas out there done right. Very free to play friendly gives out gems a lot of times to help you hit pity and has fan art for days and a huge revenue income.
I can tell you dont play the game daily and you are off an on in this game by the units you showed yourself using in your runs. This game is very easy to understand, easy to gear up your characters and easy to lvl up thier skills if you focus and know how the game works. It's def not the worst gacha game some people just don't understand the game but that's understandable when you are a casual player.

Game does have a pity the pity is 200 pulls which is 24k pyroxenes lmao very easy to save up too. If it wasn't fun it wouldn't be so successful as it already has been. Then again fun is subjective anyway according to the person.

Thr 200 pity is a non issue and not bad as you make it out to be with the amount if crystals they give us but you wouldn't know that if you never played which is what generates uninformed comments like yours.
Rng is an every gacha game you either get hit pity or you don't idk why that's even up for debate that's common knowledge. It still remains a gacha done right which is why its so successful. Also yes it is very easy to save up 24k if you can't do that its because you have terrible self control and pull every chance you get.

You're missing one thing about Asian culture. To many, they look back at high school as the best years of their lives. It's a big reason why so many manga and anime take place during that time. Compare to the West, and we often look at high school as an ordeal to get through and afterwards is when our lives really begin.
That being said, I like Blue Archive. It's not complicated. It doesn't take long to get through the daily activities. The stories are entertaining. It's reasonably generous with gems to make gatcha pulls, even if the rates are not that good. Yes, I do think they sexualize the girls a little much at times, but that's hardly confined to this one game. Tsuguri is best girl.

Strats and all that jazz only really get into play for extreme and above raids.
It's a jp gacha through and through, the start is hella fuckin slow and simple so if you're one of those who played AK or the like where you're kinda asked to use some brain juices, this game might put you to sleep.
That soundtrack list though.... that goddamn banger list of soundtrack. MMMM
It's a really good side game, something to do in between activities or even something to waste a bit of time. The only thing I hate about this game is that I can't control my students in PVP there is no AI as it only attacks in it's given attack patterns and doesn't change which results in me losing matches where I easily could have won, pisses me the hell off
I only agree about aesthetics and the like, because that part is actually different from person to person.
Everything else I disagree with especially in regards to gameplay. I thought the same before trying this game. It's just easy and automatic. That's when I was wrong. Later on in the mid game you actually have to pay attention to what you are doing, what types of enemies you have and be able to coordinate multiple teams or else you are just going to make your life miserable. Raids is one big example of, if you are just actually mindlessly doing stuff, you won't get anywhere.
THAT SAID, it is not at the level of intricacy like Arknights. Don't get me wrong I said you had to pay really good attention, I didn't say it was complex.
In regards to F2P, this is honestly one of the most F2P gachas out there right now. Not even joking. The developers hand out rolls like they owe you money. It makes my main gacha game (AK) look damn stingy.
So yeah, this game shouldn't even be near this "Worst Gacha Ever?" series. There's a reason why right now it's one of the profitable gachas according to the earnings report.
Every single Gacha game will be included in the "Worst Gacha Ever?" series. That's the entire point of the series, to cover every game and see if they're good or bad!

this game is more of a chill game for me... at least when it doesn't come to the gacha.
other games i play really requires attention and Blue Archive definitely requires less concentration than my other games, except when i want to rank high in the raid leaderboard.
Blue Archive's stories (main and side story) are also really easy to get into with how well they present it, even though it's just mostly reading. i'd recommend to people, but only after i tell them what the game does terribly.
I didnt know age is a thing when it comes to visiting an Academy, so it also must be unrealistic that adult ppl visit the Military Academy, huh? oO

full review is.. game is great especially it's story & beautiful L2d, he just not into School Drama stuff so he stopped playing more in order to unlock more stories & that's why he don't know what he missed.. if you unlocked more stories then you'll realize this game isn't only about School drama but more than that.

@@raiiinnych.4439 still I do think game itself now become harder than before especially for new players. back then before this current new update you had many options but now it limited.. for example take Crafting option, in old version you could use those Student Gears' level up *Crystals* & Activity Reports in order to unlock Secondary node(20 crystals or 20 Activity reports enough to unlock it) but now Nexon removed them & want you to use your hard earned Tech Notes & other valuable materials, plus this new update took game original punchy colors & now game looks more dull to me or maybe it just my eyes because of had no enough sleep? idk but for me Iori used to be tan side & now after the update she looks like someone put too much white make up on her face, same goes with Momoi ik her fruity eye catchy colors very well but now they don't attract my eyes anymore, also I'll gonna miss old style *Tasks* option.. it was the only place where you could have some peace time without any Student, Schale workers & Arona's interference while you collecting your rewards. I hope they fixes these issues & make easier for new players
you can compare BA's story with ToAru.. slice-of-life/comedy on the surface, great action/drama/fantasy deep down... also great localization team,.. the translations are top-notch, dialogues are super witty and enjoyable.
I actually like this, arknight sometimes really pain to play because i actually dont like thinking that much while playing a game. I prefer something like reactive over strategy type of gaming.
Story isnt special but i like how the characters interacting to each other since i like atelier and tales of franchise in the first place where their character interaction is often better than their main story.
The only criticism i have is some of the dialogue that feels like cane from eroge, these high schoolers are so thirsty for us MC, its fucking weird to play. Their design is no different, some of them are just waaaaay too suggestive for my taste, the "older" Lookin one are okay i guess, but the "younger" Lookin one disturb the hell out of me, i guess its just matter of preference.

Also, BA gacha seems horrible, while the global BA can easily skip banners and choose whoever they want to pull, it also bad because they try to catch up with JP, making lot of players skipping a lot of characters and maybe forced some of them to use their cash to get what they want.

The only thing I hate about this game is that you're gonna be punished if you don't plan out your pyroxenes well. If you're the kind of player who summons for fun, this game isn't for you. You need to make sure you have enough stash or else you're just gonna be disappointed. That 2.5% rate isn't as good as you think it is.
In other aspects though such as gameplay, aesthetic and design, the game is very beautiful and well-made. Especially the adorable 3D chibi models in battles. Love that. The only thing I wish Priconne had too lol
