  • Mexico City architects Francisco Pardo and Julio Amezcua have revitalized a dilapidated 19th-century brick house in the Juárez neighborhood, turning it into offices and a co-working space. The house, located at Havre 77, once belonged to a wealthy family but fell into disrepair after the revolutionary war and two major earthquakes.
As part of a regeneration effort, Pardo and Amezcua, founders of AT103, renovated and extended the building. The renovation included a modern steel and concrete "prosthesis" that adds two floors on the roof and an extension at the back, creating a mixed-use venue with a restaurant, private offices, and shared workspaces.
The extension features ample glazing overlooking a central courtyard, while the original house's period features, like wall and ceiling moldings, have been restored. Contemporary lighting and an oval bar in the restaurant contrast with the historic elements. Exposed bricks, timbers, and concrete are used throughout, particularly in the staircase connecting all five floors.
