Cheers mate! You gave me the confidence to try fixing my sensor bin instead of throwing it away. The sensor was actually fine and thought I had a faulty gear but it turns out…when I opened it up something was blocking the gear mechanism from turning. So if in doubt, just open it up first to check what’s wrong before throwing it away!
I’m having a problem where mine is only opening an inch or so, my kids have punched the lid down anytime they use it so I was thinking it’s a motor issue. I know the sensor isn’t the problem but have no clue what to fix or how, any suggestions is appreciated
The gear might have slipped or twisted. Open it up and take a look. With this model there should be two screws holding the gear in place and it all should align nicely. It might just need realigning or rescreing in. Watch out for loose screws if you give it a go.
@ I opened the gear box and the gears fell out, spent 45 minutes trying to reconfigure them to the way they were. Almost got it but then it the motor came off the wires where it was soldered. 🙂↕️🤦🏻♂️
The on and off buttons work fine on mine but the sensor doesn’t work. New batteries. Have spent an hour cleaning all the reachable bits but think tomorrow I’ll have to take it apart to investigate. My suspicion is these sensors are extremely sensitive to the hinge mechanism and maybe some gunk is knocking it off balance or something. The little light flashes red but there is just zero motor movement when you wave your hand over it!
Good luck. Make sure you have a soldering iron on standby the wires don't have much give. Also there is a spring that needs to be tensioned which holds the lid up. Good luck. Let us know how you get on...
This is a great video! I have this exact model and it’s not opening. I was about to attempt a fix but just changed the batteries and it started working again 😂 a little disappointed
Yep tried u fix mines different model different motor..1st attempt no luck just accomplished a deep clean. So next few days I'll have another crack at it. Its closing but not opening all yhe way up. I will win this fight..
@goulashigabor look at it in operation. Does it look properly aligned? Are both screws in? (Or however many are attaching to it) One obvious thing to sanity check as well is whether the batteries need changing!!!!
@@RobTheFrugalist thanks insanity is creeping, batts are new, hard to tell in operation as the motor is very different to yours(maxkon) older model. On mines there are around 5 wheel cogs inside the motor housing so its all trial and error. Anyways many thanks for sharing your video I am sure it helped a few in the world. Ps. i also had to resolder 2 wires so fragile.
OH WOW A SENSOR BIN GOLLY GOODNESS GRACIOUS, GOOD JOB!!!!!!!

Superb to hear, and well done you. In Japanese they call that "genchi genbutsu" meaning "go and see for yourself " a way of solving problems
Great video. It fixed my can. Thanks so much!!
Glad it helped!

@gabenolan6746 this is common. Resolder and you are done. You can see it happened to me in the vid too. Dont give up.

Check for dirt give it a clean maybe even consider using wd40
Im going to attempt to fix mine as part's dont exist with this make. I will advise if/when i fail miserably.

Haha brilliant. They are battery hungry... well now you know what it looks like under the covers should you need to fix it.

Is it slamming shut when closing? If so it could just need the cog adjusting so the teeth are recalibrated.
How to adjust cog?@@RobTheFrugalist

@goulashigabor i am with you on the resoldering. But its satisfying when you get it back working. Good luck.
They leave close lonely
Typo?
