Great video, I flew as an instructor pilot on the AT-38 and had a lot of fun doing DACT against F-15, F-16, A-10.
Check six from an argentinian Mirage fighter.

I would Highly recommend the reading of a book called : Top Gun an American Story by Dan Pedersen , this book explains how Top Gun phantom pilots was able to change the reliance on missiles during the beginning of Vietnam to how to maneuver the phantoms at close range to fire inside the envelope by the end of Vietnam. And how Top Gun become a mainstay for all fighters after Vietnam.

Question, when flying inverted, do you put the stick forward to climb. Is it just opposite inputs?

That eagle was from the 57th fighter interceptor squadron . The only f-15cs that use the cfts owing to the long expanses they patrol

I know my friend was in the AF in the mid 80's and was stationed at Elmendorf AFB. Told me about the F-15s had CFT. I just never seen one on picture or video till I saw this. I know the Israeli F-15s have them.

The Phantom was a Great Fighter, The Failure of the LBJ administrations Beyond Visual range ONLY Doctrine would have pilots maneuver the phantoms in close, when they was not equipped or trained to do so . However those pilots who could maneuver the phantom became ACEs in the phantom. Captain Frank Ault did a report on this called the Ault report, his findings was with missile Failures and lack of in close range pilot training. So Dan Pedersen armed with this report started to retrain these phantom pilots at a school he started called Fighter Weapons school. These pilots would increase the ratio from 2:1 to 24:1 with the phantoms by the end of Vietnam. Why this newer phantom record is never Discussed remains a mystery.

The F4 handled like a bus with 2J79. No gun. No ACM maneuverably. Early sidewinders ans sparrows sucked. mcnamara and johnson micromanaged vietnam. Also johnson wasn't a hero in ww2.

@@briancooper2112 I am convinced that if the missiles was reliable back than and we used the same rules of engagement from the beginning of Vietnam as our Fighters use today, The kill ratio from the start of Vietnam would have been overwhelming in the phantoms favor.

"The Failure of the LBJ administrations Beyond Visual range ONLY Doctrine would have pilots maneuver the phantoms in close, when they was not equipped or trained to do so ."
While I don't think I disagree with the main point of your comment, this sentence doesn't make any sense.
First of all, there was no "LBJ administration BVR ONLY doctrine". LBJ did not develop air combat weapons systems or the tactics for their employment, he merely micromanaged where jets could fly and what targets they could attack.
Secondly, if that had been the actual doctrine, pilots would it would not have been allowed to maneuver within visual range. It is true that F-4 pilots were initially not adequately equipped and trained for close in maneuvering combat when it was thrust upon them. The inability to engage BVR was also due in a large part due to rules of engagement that prevented use of radar homing missile from beyond visual range in order to prevent fratricide.
And while I think LBJ was a poor president, he certainly was not responsible for this situation either. I prefer to hold LBJ accountable for his actual deficiencies rather than dilute them in unjustified criticisms.

@@gort8203 The Beyond Visual Range ONLY was the Fighter Doctrine that was used because “ Dogfighting was Dead “ and there was no need for a Gun . This was the attitude of the Top Brass during LBJ presidency. However the pilots during the Vietnam war needed visual identification making this Beyond visual range with missiles only enept . These pilots at that point was in Dogfights without the equipment due to no gun and Missile failures and No in close combat training.. However Captian Frank Ault and Dan Pedersen changed this when they started the Figher weapons school with the phantom pilots that actually changed the kill ratio from 2:1 and increased it to 24:1 with the phantom.
