    One of the best travel advice I learned myself is to make sure you bring a small card with logos for things you want to use or go to. This is especially important in places where there can be a language barrier.
    Just go to a clerk or a kind-looking stranger, take the card out, and nicely gesture that you need to go use a toilet or find a taxi stop.
    The second best advice is to memorise or write down the local terms for those places. In Japan, you can use "toiretto," but it's better to use "otearai."

    I always research restaurants prior to traveling. I read YELP reviews, check out the menus, look at the pictures of food, and book reservations in advance. I am rarely disappointed because I put the effort in prior to travel. Plus, the planning gets me even more excited for my trip. Thanks for all the travel trips. I love your videos!

    Also send copies of your important documents such as your passport, etc to your email. That way if you lose everything you may be able to replace your documents etc, quicker and more easier. If you ever need to cancel a debt or credit cards,etc it’s handy to have an email you can access rather then scrambling to find the information you need. Save different types of information in different emails. So for example if you need to open an email for a reservation or something else you are not sharing your other information by having it all saved in a single email

    Hi Chris. Love all the advice you saved in the live stream. My favorite advice that I got was to do and see the things that you really want. Because you never know if you will ever return to that place or might not be available anymore.

    More best travel advice: Don't spend most of your time messing with your cameras and phones. Mingle with the locals. Join local activities and festivities. Try local food. Try something new. Soak it all in. The experience will be much more memorable and rewarding.

    Great advice!! All of it! As we start to travel again, it's good to get a refresher on some stuff we've forgotten. We LOVE Rick Steves and have been to his office for presentations several times (we don't live too far from his HQ in Edmonds, WA). My neighbor is one of his Europe tour guides, even! But!!! You're quickly becoming another of our favorite travel gurus! 😉👍

    We are all about experience than food. We traveled with our friend who is a foodie in Japan. We followed them for an hour and by the time we get to the restaurant there was a long line. We were so hungry and decided not to eat with them. While we discover delicious food elsewhere they were still waiting in line so we got to explore/discover the area until they are done eating.

    I’m really more in line with your Mom’s and the OC girl’s advice.
    I also think that the old proverb “When in Rome do as the Romans do.” serves as the best ever travel advice, as well. In other words, the only way to truly get a feel for the destination that you’re visiting is to live and experience it as the locals do (but in style; no roughing it or cheapskate moves).
    Great job Chris; a very entertaining and informative presentation, as usual. 👍🏻

    You can put a note on your reservation or a request for a specific room but there is NO guarantee that the hotel will be able to accommodate you.
    I always ask for a first floor room close to the lobby but I rarely get it unless it is the hotel that I stay at regularly and the staff knows me.

    I agree that Asian breakfast is better than Western breakfast. When my grandma was alive, we would go out to eat Pho for breakfast in San Jose and it was definitely more filling than the cereal at my house.

    19:50 - full agreement - I save carefully for vacations, book them, then pay them off in 1-3 large chunks before the monthly cycle ends. Here's a tip: Write out a check to the payment address of the credit card you plan to use while you are away. Leave the envelope with someone you trust, and have them chuck it in the mail when you're halfway through your trip. It will arrive and be posted right around the time you return - everything you spent on the trip will be fully or partially paid off by the time you get back!

    I went to Vegas on the cheap (saved $700 from work used Spirit stayed at Strat(strat was the most important place for me to go to on the first trip here for Insanity/observation tower)+ Luxor loved both them and they both really were good value on snaptravel or expedia can't really remember which one I got back from Vegas and still had $300) I had falafel/hummus a bunch from the same food truck and del taco somewhere near ross Dfl....I want to go again when vegas is HOT like in August...I might spend more on a hotel....out of the more expensive ones which one is best out of Mandalay Bay/Golden Nugget on fremont/Ceasars palace/Circa(not circus circus but the one on fremont)????...my main interests are Pools(most important) and the Room(nice carpeting/non tacky furniture)....on cheaper ones which do like the best.... Sahara/Excalibur/flamingo/NY NY...by cheap I mean you can book for about $25-$40+ $35 resort fee)

    • @irvingjohnson9244
      @irvingjohnson9244 3 роки тому

      Mandalay Bay, or Circa are the best on your list. For the cheaper ones, get an upgraded room. Using the $20 sandwich trick works, if they are not booked up.

    Hi Chris, I love to travel to see the world, but I am scared to fly. It's mostly turbulence. I regent took a chance and flew with the family to Arizona to see the Antelope Canyon. I was stressed out all the way over. On the way back, the turbulence was bad at least for me. I hang on to the seats and just want to cry. No matter how much my son comforts me, I feel on edge. Any tips fore to stay calm when I fly. Thanks

    • @YellowProductions
      @YellowProductions  6 місяців тому

      Hi Natalie -- not sure I have any advanced tips in this area other than to realize that flying is actually safer than driving a car which most of us do on a daily basis without stressing out too much. So there's no need to stress. Planes are designed to operate in turbulence.

    I would like to know what kind of " general emergency medicine" you would take on your trips . Also: e.g., when we had visited Brazil, people told us: " don't eat anything which cannot be peeled, don't drink tap water or brush your teeth with it, etc.". I would have liked to receive some travel tips of this kind.
