The JMT is a tough trail even for experienced and fit backpackers. I began a NOBO thru in Aug 2019 from Cottonwood Pass. I was totally unprepared. I spent more time buying equipment than conditioning my body for the hike. Needless to say my trip ended badly with a helicopter evacuation to a Visalia hospital. Dehydration and rhabdomyolysis. The good news is I successfully completed the hike in Aug 2020 because I took the better part of 6 months preparing physically. Great advice and I enjoyed watching your JMT videos!
@@ChadLubinski yep, it was a bad experience. The rabdo was a clear sign of extremely poor preparation. I was air lifted near Tyndal Creek... just past the tree line. I was so happy when I finally made it over Forrester. One good thing from 2020.
Just found your channel, it’s all gold. How in the heck do you only have 996 subscribers. Unreal. Perhaps more of a comment on the world today and what gets attention. Thank you for the solid information.
I'm starting to train for my 2022 JMT hike now. I hiked the Rae Lakes loop, this summer without much prep and I learned I really need to get into shape if I'm going to tackle any trail in the Sierra. Thank you for sharing these videos, they will certainly help.
Great question. Heart rate training has really started to help me avoid overtraining. I’d suggest getting a heart rate strap to monitor it and find your lactate threshold and adjust your workouts from there. Especially since CFs MO is all about spiking heart rate
@@ChadLubinskiYou had me convinced lol. I'm planning on a nobo hike of the JMT this summer; just thought I'd tell you I appreciate your videos! They're super helpful

Ppl will do anything besides go to the gym and lift a weight….
How many reps did you do of each exercise? Thank you for making these videos I'm finding them very helpful!
Hey Casey! Usually about 12!
I already do crossfit style workouts 3X a week. How do you suggest incorporate these without over training?
