It sounds corny to say, but I can still remember vividly the moment when I found out that Jawbox broke up - what a terrible thing! Jawbox's last two full lengths = perfection.
I first heard these guys thanks to Beavis & Butthead around 94'. I was in eighth grade and bought FYOSS immediately. 23 years later and this band is still very relevant. B&B actually introduced me to other great indie bands such as Archers of Loaf, Superchunk, Seaweed, The Meices, etc. This was also when MTV was at its prime.
GAWD-DAMN!! For those of you who may be fellow music heads, but don't yet own their record "For Your Own Special Sweetheart"... PLEASE!!! Get a copy, camp out with some headphones and let this whole record take you there...
MattGurley, FYOSS was easily the best record that came out in 1994. Next, would probably be Archers of Loaf 'Vee Vee'. I bought FYOSS a few months after it came out (I was in 8th grade) and the opening track (FF=66) is like 500 centaurs storming through a village and setting fire to everything. J. Robbins is a fucking beast. Also, (and you might know this already), J also was the frontman for a few other bands post-Jawbox including Burning Airlines, Channels, and Office of Future Plans. Definetely worth checking out.
Played there the same year. Employees enjoyed it so much they invited us all to an after hours party around the block. Place was the size of a bedroom.
@@JayaKesavaD Have tickets to see them in Dublin next year, rescheduled twice haha. Hope you get to see them bud! Bill Barbot just left the band but Brooks Harlan, his replacement, is pretty fucking good so I have high hopes.
I sustained permanent hearing loss (just kidding) and perpetual head slamming motion after seeing this remarkable band back in the day!! Love these guys!
As well as Spoiler.. This was 95 and that album didn't come out until a year later, so they were probably still working out lyrics and song structure while on the road prior to recording. He even says in the video that they will be recording an LP next July. So this was over a year prior, which means those songs are still being "written". Saw them in Gainesville a month ago. Kind of bothered me that Savory is the only song a lot of people know. Even now. Was it in American Pie or something?

Jawbox, sunny day, hum and nada surf were the bands who really carry on with the real underground alternative music.
I fucking love hum
Man, the drive with which they play, relentless at getting right at it, contagious
They are dramatically underrated heroes.
Such a sick drummer
Zach is definetly one of the best
beast

No joke! I saw them a few days ago on their reunion tour.
I couldn’t keep my eyes off the drums
Some DC post-hardcore bands had some of the BEST drummers. Another example is the Dismemberment Plan.
This finally sounds and looks like WHY I loved seeing Jawbox live. Thank you internet stranger!
I saw Jawbox the same night as Bob Mould's side project "Sugar." Pretty sure most of my 90's hearing loss occurred that night. Worth it.
Came back to this video realizing this show was the day I was born!
so perfectly chaotic and yet locked in-step. pity I could never see them livr
Guess what!!! You just may have your chance!

Thanks I remember this tour in Little Rock, Ar. with PegBoy when we saw them.
and he never did it later
Was in Turin
Bassist is so fun to watch. She has great bass face.
Nickel Nickel Millionaire is such a great song. The drums are genius! Just amazing stuff all around.
My Scrapbook of Fatal Accidents is still one of my favorite albums to this day
This code is cracked! Jawbox were the beasts of the underground indie rock scene.
My favorite band of the 90's so grateful to see this. Reel brought everything back...
One of the most underrated bands of the 90's Punk and Grunge invasion. They will always get the top spot for most underrated band of the 90's.
It sounds corny to say, but I can still remember vividly the moment when I found out that Jawbox broke up - what a terrible thing! Jawbox's last two full lengths = perfection.
At least Jawbox was able to give us two great full lengths before breaking up. Jawbreaker only gave us one.
@mopes2713 Three. I think Novelty is a great album as well
Kim was a beast on that bass! Loved everything this band did.. but.. It's Kim on bass! Love this band but I love Kim more!
16:57-17:05 gets me every fucking time. Zach Barocas is king.
Fugazi
So much energy and the fact that they played in cbgbs is great, this i classic rock at its best. Moments like this never come back.
"Classic rock"? Ooof. That was uncalled for.

piece of shit
lefritax I would fucking love to see a picture of you. You probably weigh 160 lbs. holding a 20 lb. dumbbell. Come at me bro.

MattGurley the guitar duels really come to life with a good pair of headphones.. cheers!
It's basically the gateway to a better life. Ambiguous lyrics really take people on a journey if they are imaginative.
the one dislike can go to hell. they have no idea. they were obviously never in the room when this band played.
Played there the same year. Employees enjoyed it so much they invited us all to an after hours party around the block. Place was the size of a bedroom.
These guys are so killer!
The mix from the board from the sound guy! They would of sounded amazing!. This sad mic from someone, in the crowd, could never catch their sound
i know :(
I was there!
Damn I love this band. Thanks for posting!
Awwwww Static is cut off at the end!!!!!!!!!
But many thanks for the trip down memory lane. I can't believe it's been 21 years.
thanx for this incredible video!
Thanks for posting! Awesome video! I saw them on this tour and they were amazing.
I would love to see a Jawbox reunion tour (I know it wont happen....!) FYOSS is one of my all time favorite 'post-hardcore' albums out there......
Spoke too soon :)
@@IAmTheBestMang Yes I did… (wishful thinking) and even with the last set of shows… I still haven’t seen them play.

absolutely fantastic, many thanks
How awesome would it be to find out your school teacher played bass in a band like this?

Thanks for uploading this. What a great band
J must have changed up the lyrics on "Iodine" several times. This is like the third version of the lyrics I've heard!
Jeremy Brannon They’re different on Mirrorful too.
wish my band was like this
Dang D-Plan played this show also? I'd travel back in time for this one.
Love it
