    I had done the steps up to finding the broken wires on my wife's PF, and then replaced the camera. It still didn't work. I found your video, checked the wire inside the rubber boot, and it was completely broken. Soldered the ends back together, and now it works. Thanks!

      I'm actually surprised how many people have the same issue. You have to be the fifth one to say that. It was really only dumb luck that I found the issue because I tested the camera with the door open and it worked, then went to drive away and it didn't work anymore.
      Glad it worked out for you.

    Bro ur lowkey a genius. I have a 2011 Nissan pathfinder and I tried all the other processes you showed and it didn’t work but then I came across the wire in the lift gate and I just retaped the black wire that encased the cooper coloured one. And it worked perfectly. It looked almost as if someone cut the wire casing on purpose but I think it was the trunk constantly slamming on it like you said. I purchased a new backup camera from Amazon thinking I needed to maybe get a new camera Bcuz this one is broken but nope it trick worked! I think I’ll just repurpose this camera as a front camera so then now I’ll have both front and rear cameras. Anyways thanks so much man I’ll have to def subscribe!

    And... another happy customer. My screen was flickering like yours (when you went to the harness). Lo and behold, I opened the harness, couldn't see any broken wires but wiggled the wires, and the picture is back. I'll do a more thorough look when I have more time, but you saved me a ton of $ from buying a part that won't fix the problem and further frustration after finding that out! My car is a 2016 Versa Note. Different harness, same problem.

      How did it work

    • @aaronsilvers300
      @aaronsilvers300 3 роки тому +2

      @@marlug9722 Turned out to be the Camera connection plug for me. I had to drill out the screws in the license plate mount because the heads were rusted. Seems like water just sits on top of the Chrome trim above the plate and rust out everything underneath. Once I got the camera disconnected I could see green corrosion in the connector. Cleaned it out, plugged it back in and voila. All in all a real pain in the butt though. Plus you have to be super careful drilling out the screws not to scratch the rear trim. If the screws were good this would probably have been an easier repair. Best of luck!

    Any ideas on what would make a backup camera show an almost entirely white screen (like an over exposed picture on screen, but red yellow green parking lines are still visable) in the daytime, but it works properly at night? It's kinda strange. This is on a 2008 Infiniti m35x btw.

    • @DIYNorth

      I'm not sure, as I've never had that issue. could it be that the camera is not adjusting out of night mode and into day mode? Could a sensor be covered making the camera think it should be in night mode?

    My 2005 Armada SE has this intermittent problem where the rear door will beep every minute and the automatic lift gate won't work. Camera also doesn't work. Do you think it could be related to the same cables causing a short?

    • @DIYNorth
      @DIYNorth  2 роки тому

      Thanks for watching. I'd say that it could be your problem however it sounds like there are a few things going wrong so it might be more complex than that. If I was having all those issues I would start my hunt for the problem at the rear door and work my way forward. There my also be some corrosion somewhere that is causing things to short.

      I would get someone in the car to hold down the brake with the trunk open and the car in reverse and have someone else slowly lower the lid until you find the threshold where the camera kicks out, look around at that specific point to see if wire harnesses are being compressed or something is getting pulled out of place. On another note have you found any issues with your g.door opener or clock, radio stations not accepting any changes? mine continue to switch back to an earlier preset. Yeah, my most viewed video is actually on the Nissan Pathfinder Radio. I have had the exact same issue and so have a few others. I had initially pulled the long term storage memory fuse and replaced it which actually allowed me to reset the radio, save the time as well as the radio stations. But its not a permanent fix, if I pull the battery I have to do it all over again. If its daylight savings time its all messed up again. And just like a few others have mentioned it goes way back to radio settings that were at one point mine, but maybe no longer valid. Or if someone turns it off and shuts the car off you will keep having to turn the radio on every time you get in. Anyway, there is something in the electrical chain that the long term storage fuse is in but I'm not sure. I also ask every time I go to any Nissan and they say "no first we've heard of this issue". And yes they will try to sell you a BOSE radio for $1200.

      @@DIYNorth thanks again. Saw the radio video and just pulled the long term fuse and it has seemed to correct the issue for now.
      Back to the camera. I checked the wires in that housing in the tailgate and as you had shown, cracked wire insulation. I reconnected them using wire connectors and I'm happy to say the Camera is working once again.
      Thanks for the videos!

    I think something is wrong with the wires on my 2017 altima, it randomly goes out whenever it wants to, but I think it coincides with when the trunk is shut. Had an appointment waited all week to take it in to Nissan- two days before my appointment the camera decides it wants to start working again, so I cancel my appointment and later on that day the camera stops working again 😡

      normally electronics work until they really break. I would look for loose and or corroded wires if it is something that is on and off. I would start at the camera and work towards the front of the car.

    What if it doesn’t ven sense that the vehicle is in reverse? No change In The screen. I think something happened after someone closed my trunk too hard but I removed the trunk cover and found nothing wrong

      I would look at the fuses and relays in that case.
      I dont think it would be a backend problem. It is likely something up front that isnt telling the camera to turn on

      I dont think the camera has it's own fuse, it would probably be for a sensor, or reverse lights or something like that

      @@lyingasshoes9455 That is a bit odd that the dealership can figure it out. If all the fuses and relays are good I would assume that they would do some trouble shooting on the screen and climate controls. I don't have the electrical skills for that. Sorry to hear about your misfortune on this one. I'm not a fan of the Pathfinder electrical system. 100% the weakest link on the truck.
