Nice video, I was not able to comment earlier due to the fact that I got my braces this week and been in a little pain, and this video came out the day I got them. Today, I went to chicago Music Exchange to play some guitars and got the opportunity to play a real 56 and 64 j160. All I can say is that they sound amazing
Brad Mehldau has an amazing version of this on his Blues and Ballads album. I like the black and white and wardrobe choices, bringing that early Beatles vibe 😊 Sounds great!
Always amazed me how they just suddenly slow the tempo and raised the key by a half-step on the bridge - and yet it completely works and allows the song to end in a higher register, yielding a final satisfying shift from E to... D?!.
I love it! 😊❤ There is a black and white clip of John Lennon strumming his guitar and making a face to the camera. I’m pretty sure it was this song. (I don’t know if it was a rehearsal or actual recording).
Incredible as always Sam! Do you think we’ll ever get any more Doors songs on your channel? I’d love to see you tackle some of the tracks from Strange Days
@@sampopkin Well then most sources are wrong. haha Ringo couldn't have been playing both at the same time. The claves are on the same track as Paul's live vocals, not with the bongos, bass and guitar. There's an earlier remake session where George tried to play guitar on the basic track but it didn't work out for whatever reason.
I’m in awe! I’m so glad you played the correct chords! I’ve played some chords on different positions but this is definitely how it sounds on the album! Do you figure out the chords on your own?
I knew what the chords were already from playing it for years. But getting the exact shapes right for Lennon was interesting, see my description. I referenced the movie
l don't think George is using a plectrum, from the footage it seems he is using the classical thumb picking tecnique, although l could be wrong, the Spanish guitar is OP but the anglican musicians just can't play it right for some reason 😂. This cover is perfect by the way. l think John played a barred A major?
@@sampopkin I stand corrected, your right. Thanks for the info Sam. I wonder where or who has possession of the Hoot right now? Yoko oh no, Paul or Dahni??? Do you have any idea?
The fact that The Beatles found each other and then met up with George Martin to produce their recordings is almost enough to make me believe in a Divine being.
When don’t you start making videos beetles do you Paul McCartney for me or Ringo Starr or John Lennon I George Harrison please or don’t forget Billy Preston your queen please do you Boston for me like Johnny Cash can you The police please or Phil Collins or Chicago end Journey Watch Stevie Wonder Marvin Gaye
Do you say that this is the exact way that they played this ? Because if you do I've finally got it down pat and want to thank you. Now I'm off to work on " There's a place " and get that song to perfection both parts !! Thanks Sam !!
The aggressively strummed E major on John's guitar sound exactly like the record, and the Spanish guitar is just incredible
I'm in love with George Harrison's guitar parts
As good as Beatles songs are it's George who colours them in.
That guitar riff is such an integral part of the song that it deserved a writing credit.
@@arnesaknussemm2427 yes it makes the song
Paul has said that it's George's guitar part contribution that really turned his song into a classic masterpiece.
0:26 the hard strumming I love it
Everything is so spot on. You’ve even got John’s distinctive strumming down to a tee. Well done!
Excellent! That D as the final chord was a stroke of genius. Thanks for sharing the video.
Yep, that D major was a nice cap to a brilliant tune. 🙂
Amazing how you were able to create the almost “ringy” (I’m really not sure how to describe it) sound for Johns guitar
Till there was you, maybe next? Loved this one!
The black and white video only enhances the perfect duplication!
i've never seen anyone nail the chords until now! outstanding job
This works perfectly as a backing track to play the bass line with. Great as always!
Sounds just like the record! Fantastic as always!
Thanks David✌🏻
Awesome cover, Sam! This might be one of my favorite AHDN tracks! Hope to see more covers from you!
Nice work Sam! I’d love to see you do ‘till there was you’ with these guitars!
What a great song
Maybe the best one you ever did, probably my favorite.❤❤❤
life recently for me is pretty sad for me and I've been listening to this to cheer me up. You did it beautifully and u made me cry
♥♥ Beautiful Playing, Nailed it like always, Much Love♥♥
Incredible 🔥🔥
Beautiful song and an excellent cover! Love Beatles forever!
The tones and playing as always are so spot on. Excellent job Sam.
Was literally just listening to this after rewatching A Hard Days Night, good shit brother keep it up
Good! J-160E is Original!
Amazing Sam! Love ur covers.
So so so incredible, man. This was my first guitar solo I ever learned and your version (as always) is so magically faithful!
Awesome! You nailed it all the way through. Really impressive.
Beautiful, I just love how seamless the key change is
Excellent. Thank you.
Never clicked so fast on a video LOL. I love George's lead in this particular one. Great work, Sam. Sounds identical to the original track
Dude this literally sounds like the studio version. Great work!
Awesome video man, could you do the Anthology version by any chance?
Will do!
@@sampopkinOk, thank you, you’re the best.

The perfect song if you wanna practice barre chords.
Just great!

Had to subscribe after watching this.

Can you do Paperback Writer guitar?
that last D chord on this song is good
it makes no sense, but it sounds so good
The Music Theory term for that is a Picardy Third! All though I'm certain they had no clue it had a name haha!

Yes I’m starting work on one of the earlier covers soon

The backing track actually had George playing the claves. George's iconic part was overdubbed separately.

Beatles good job Sam Poppkin
can you do she's a woman by the beatles?
E may be E7?
Do you have a favourite Beatles song? Mine is probably an odd choice, but I always liked "Blue Jay Way".
When I’m Sixty Four
@@sampopkin great song
What brand of strings and gauge are using on the J 160 E? The tone sounds just like the recording!
Ernie ball rock and roll pure nickel 12-52 roundwounds
I suppose there should be E6 chord instead of simple E after each verse (during "and i love her).
I thought so too but isolated tracks reveal he just played E

cool
Hi Sam i'd like to get your two cents please. Do you think George could play certain chords that John maybe couldn't?
Yes I think George was much better with his chord vocabulary, like augmented diminished and #9 chords. But Lennon did know a lot of those too
@@sampopkin Thanks Sam, appreciate your answer :)
Would you love to try keytar and tenor banjo
Strawberry Fields forever should be the next song.
I agree. But with a real Mellotron
Bright Aaare the Staaars that Shaain......
What kind of strings did you put on your Gibson J-160E?
I have Ernie ball rock and roll pure nickel roundwounds. A custom set 11-52
@@sampopkin So you use roundwounds for the most part?
@@elirosen1391 yeah I love flatwounds but just can’t get the tones or bends I want out of them. On basses they’re a must though

when you did the rhythm guitar did your fretting hand get exhausted quickly? now that's a test of endurance for any guitar player.
I don’t think so for this one, but when I do 12 string definitely. Or certain songs with a lot of bar chords
@@sampopkin u certainly did a lot of barre chords
I need a day in the life acoustic guitar
George Harrison played a rare Framus Hootnany acoustic with nylon strings I believe.

The Hootenanny was their 12 string acoustic guitar. George played his Ramirez classical on this one

The key change was George Martin’s idea

I've Just Seen a Face, maybe?? 😍
Can’t believe i used to HATE this tune when i started listening to Beatles.🥲🥲 Very well done, sounds just like the recording.😉

I’m pretty sure, the only part I’m not 100% about is if George picked all downstrokes or down down up up on the verses
