Can you spray this product on?
Do you think this stuff would remove dried on wax (around 18 months dried on!) from textured plastic trim?
Good question and the short answer is, I don't know. However, I'd probably start off by putting some warm dish soap in a spray bottle and spray the area. Dish soap strips wax and the warm water should help soften it. Then I'd try agitating it with a detailing brush and see if it comes off.
The tar and glue remover should strip the wax but I'm not 100% sure how damaging it would be to the plastics. I'd probably try it myself if the above method didn't work but it would be at your own risk.
Torque Steer Thank you for your reply. Having looked in to it a bit more, my wax (Meguiar’s Ultimate Paste Wax) is actually a paint sealant. Not sure if that makes much difference? I’ve tried washing up liquid, neat all purpose cleaner, neat super degreaser, isopropanol alcohol, WD40 and clay bar. It just won’t budge. I’m considering buying some GTechniq permanent trim dye to see if that will cover it up, or import some Meguiar’s Heavy Duty Trim Restorer from the States.
Would it be possible to remove the plastic trim piece from the car at all? How big is it? I'm just wondering if you could soak it in some hot water for a while. It might get through if you could soak it for an hour or so. It's just a wild guess though.
Torque Steer thanks again for your reply. It’s the front, rear, and side valences on my Mustang so I’d need something the size of a kids paddling pool for that. I’ve been advised by another professional detailer that tar remover is one of only ways which will strip waxes / sealants, but like you say, this could damage my trim. I’m pretty certain I’m going to go down the Gtechniq C4 route and make sure I mask up properly next time I seal my paint. Thanks again and keep the videos coming 👍
To remove wax / sealant on black plastic trim you can use a pencil eraser. Needs a good rub & takes a bit of time but works a treat. Did mine yesterday.
nice video! really nicely put together. Well made.

Thanks Joe, as a subscriber of your channel for quite a while, I'd like to say the same back :) I've been finding your AutoFinesse videos interesting. Remember to subscribe for more AutoFinesse updates haha ;) - Luke
Love the vids mate. Keep them coming. You've converted me from autoglym to auto finnesse. Roll on summer!
Cheers Richie :)
Great video, thanks- I will be purchasing some of this!
You’re very welcome :)
Torque Steer :). I have used this on tar and on sticker removal. I used some masking tape and it was awful to remove, even with a heat gun. This stuff was superb and doesn't even effect the paint which I resprayed either. With using spray cans I thought it may react but it didn't I have tried autoglym in the past for tar removal and thought it was awful! I ended up taking it back for a refund.
You be much better putting a spray head on or a spray bottle much faster do the whole lower panels of the vehicle and let it soak and run down autoglym tar in 5 ltr or autosmart tardis much more economic
spray first
