Completely agree with you about J Bree's The Throne of H&B. I actually DNF'd it at 52%. I thought both Rooke and Soren were completely different/silly. Really disappointed as I was eagerly awaiting it especially as the first book was a 5 star read for me.
I was so disappointed by that book. I did finish it, but, wow…..not at all how I thought it would go.

To give a different perspective - I loved "A Throne of honor and blood". I loved it! I love how we slowly uncover Rooke's backstory. I love how Soren discovers his magic. I love most of the side characters (except for Airlie - I can't stand her) but I love Sage, the goblin princes and Brooke's sister in law (OMG, she was fun but I forgot her name). But the best thing was the romance. It was perfectly paced, the thought connection hit just right, and their wedding was magical... I just loved it (and you know the author can ruin it just as easily as make it work). I even love the horses!!
I'd be interested to hear what you didn't like about it, but I was very satisfied by this release and am definitely reading the next one.

Same Tori Soren gravel did not go how I thought it would go. I think he didn’t gravel enough.
I can't believe it's the middle of the year already. Before we know it, it will be Christmas. I also can't believe that you didn't mention The Boys of Tomen series. I just literally finished Taming 7. Just needed to voice my thought and concerns and you are the lucky person who gets to hear them. I feel, like you, the book was edited down. Chapters ended abruptly., but it still had all the feels of the previous books. The scene with Johnny and Gibs in Gibs' bedroom had me crying. I must admit the ending really bothered me.
I read the boys of Tommen last year!
