  • Today we’re going to talk about why that popular saying, “failure is not an option” is a whole load of hooey that is likely causing you a lot of unnecessary stress, anxiety, pressure, and overwhelm.
I'm going to teach you 3 ways to get past your fear of failure, make peace with it once and for aoo, tell why you need to fail, and motivate you to change your perspective and mindset to start believing why getting good at failing is one of the most important things you can do to become more resilient, and be successful in any area of your life.

World history is filled with famous people who became successful in life. Many of whom only got that way because they didn't give up and lived failure daily. There are many examples I could go with but I choose Alexander Graham Bell. When he built the first telephone, his first design didn't work. He got it right after the 2,000th or so try. When he finally succeeded he described it as the invention of "many ways how not to build a phone." It's all about perspective.

I feel like thinking of failure in terms of not having done something right will just make my perfectionism worse. My perfectionism is all about a lack of control.

I think this is really relatable to school. Just because you got an F (or Fs) on your report card does not mean you are a failure. It just means more time and practice is needed if the subject is something you want to pursue. I feel that because marks are more emphasized over learning in school that students are afraid of failing. If someone cares more about actual learning than marks they are more willing to fail because they know what they need to continue learning. Also, failing can tell more about yourself. If I fail math, science, and English but am good at art, it shows that I am an artist and maybe I can peruse in art. Failure relates to your work/performance/skill, but not who you are as a person

Great video as usual. To cover your three brilliant points, failure helps you see how important your goal is, failure builds up your determination, and failure helps you to learn from your experience. The moral of the story is don't take failure personally by saying you you are a failure, insteas say you had a failure. I love when you said failure is an option because we have many choices in dealing with failure. Thanks for your encouragement. Not only are you a good counselor, have you considered being a motivational speaker? If not, please consider motivational speaking as a second career option. If you don't prefer to do so, please continue doing what you are doing as a great counselor. God Bless.
