    Getting Allstate to buy the roof in the first place is a marvel. Here in Georgia, if a tornado came by and blew off the roof they'll claim it was never there.

      Same in NC. They have paid repairs for me on a customer that had 77 missing 3 tab shingles on a 30 sq job.
      I challenged it..re inspection resulted in the same thing. They said perform repairs and if not repairable show proof and they’ll pay for the roof.
      I charged my customer $1400 to perform the repairs and showed Allstate proof.
      They bought the roof, paid additional $1,400 for my repairs and I billed them $350 for the trips I had to take to the customers house.
      They could have saved money by buying the roof and not sending a second adjuster out.

    These are invaluable to me. I have been an adjuster for numerous carriers and now getting back into estimating. This is so insightful, even though I always looked deep to add supplements in the past. Rawk On Man. Thank You >>>taking big notes right now...LOL

    Good videos. One thing on your roof though and I'm sure you know this. Take a hip roof for example with standard ridge. The adjuster will normally allow 15 percent waste. Keep in mind that's on the field slopes. When u order your shingles you are not, unless you are stupid going to order 15 percent waste. You will order 5 percent which is sufficient for any decent crew. That leaves you the monitary value of 10 percent waste for the ridge and starter. Not going into the math here, no need, but that 10 percent is more than sufficient. Most adjusters don't know how to roof a house. I'm not blaming you for trying to maximize, if they'll pay it your pocketing the starter and ridge.

      Once again, my friend... you know your stuff. I love hearing feedback and insight from some really awesome adjusters that are out there. Thanks for watching. Please check out this video which will give you my exact take on waste factors, ridge and starter. I believe we are always arguing about this subject at the wrong time: before the build. No one actually knows the exact numbers until the job is built. Those are the numbers that matter the most: ua-cam.com/video/6Z64bUnb4DU/v-deo.html
      I'd love to hear your thoughts. Thanks again, brother. Please stay tuned and keep in touch. Much love and God bless! 🙏💖👊😉

    Allstate will pay O&P with invoices provided for all trades. I usually white the amounts and get the O&P in the end.

    (From San Antonio) If we deal with many of the same adjusters and we push on these kind of items, would you not say that they would no longer like to deal with us as a GC? In other words, what are the experiences of other contractors with dealing with adjusters in San Antonio that know that we are being more thorough with our estimates. I don't give in to all their guidelines even though it may be a program assignment, but I chose to pick my battles.
    My question is , should we worry about being black-listed?

    We call you guys, roofing salesmen. We pay for damage, not knocking your hustle but do you really need additional charge to remove ridge? You're not just gonna run your shovel over it when removing shingles? I get it your trying to feed your family and maybe retire at some point but seems you're just overcharging your customers. Have you ever read a HO policy?

    • @InsuranceRestorationTraining
      @InsuranceRestorationTraining  7 років тому +3

      +Matt Smith Thanks, buddy... but we're not contractors. We're estimators. Maybe we spend too much time focusing on these things because the carriers short 100% of their estimates 100% of the time. After seeing thousands of adjuster estimates we have the audacity to say that. Hope you have a great week! 👊😎

    Are you allowed to mark up the AC companies invoice?

    • @Nine6all
      @Nine6all 2 роки тому

      I know this is a very late response. I'm not sure if it's "allowed" but I typically throw at least 20% on my original invoice as my company takes 10% off the total job for overhead cost. In this case with the bid item, I would actually lose ~$160 when the 10% overhead is taken off my job if the carrier only paid for the base cost of the invoice. I like to think of it as if I'm a GC and a client asks for additional services outside of roofing, I'm not just going to give them MY cost do do the job. I'm going to add 10% for overhead and then a fair profit margin for myself. The only way I wont upcharge on an invoice is if the carrier has already agreed to pay O&P on the entire claim.
