The rivets are too much hassle to fix in the field. I haven't broken off too many bolts, just have to be careful tightening. I think we've put a full set of knives on this bar at least four times.
over serrated are self-sharpening because the sickle usually rests on the guards - gravity. will always be sharper than under serrated. I feel for ya, those 489/495/1465 floating cutter bar New Holland haybines are miserable SOBs. cut nice... when they're not broken in and around the most important part of a sickle moco - the wobble. they designed that area to be so accessible!
Nothing has broke without good cause. Our mower gets its abuse cutting fescue in rough fields for other people. If I had nice fields of alfalfa, I'm sure the mower would be mostly original.
You didn't make mistake with wobble box bolts. It should have be a kit with all the hardware Ohio AG report say you guy got 30 inches of rain ,show farmer side dressing corn with big spraying rig Do hear anything about Bandit and his well being Hope he getting over it
I would have used them, and somehow, I haven't found either pair for a few months now. I know one was lost at the field featured in Bad Hay Day saga last year.
Repaired ones are a nightmare more often than not as well. If you can get your hands on a factory rebuilt one and are able/willing to eat the cost, that's the way to go.
flowers look wonderful mom!
Interesting to see bolts holding the section on. Ours are held on by rivets on the 489. We put a new sickle bar on and all new guards this year.

Are the rivets stock ? My reel won’t turn and my flywheel that is on left is wobbling. Mines a NH 489
@@declantdoyle1973 they were stock on ours
Another great video.
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy.
I have that same shirt! Hope the haybine treats you good!
It always does, except at one field that isn't even rough....

At least the last few days, the rain has missed our farm. I talked to Bandit last week. I think he's ok, maybe just some weather reaction.
Need some vice grips to help turn that - suggestion only

good save
thanks
Any info where to get one for cheap ? I’m so close to buying one for 2.4k including core charge which is refundable (400.00)
My best advice is to look at local salvage yards.

New Holland 495 haybine had that same problem. That's a two man job. The double chain was whore out too.
If It's been whore out... don't leave it on the street corner.
Excuse my ignorance but what is a wobble box ??
It creates a reciprocating motion for the sickle bar.
I'm afraid I would have had to cuss it...lol
👍👌🇨🇦❤
get yourself a cheep set of tape sockets worth there weight in gold
I will look for some, thanks.
