    STORY
Today on the Bros of Decay, we'll take you deep into the woods to uncover a car graveyard. But not just any abandoned car graveyard, no, this is a VW Beetle graveyard.
Despite the unfavorable weather conditions, we were able to discover dozens, if not hundreds, of VW Beetles, buses, and other models of cars, all hidden amidst the vegetation.
This Pennsylvanian junkyard focuses on one of the most iconic vehicles in history: the German Volkswagen Beetle. Originating in Nazi Germany, the Beetle was commissioned by none other than Adolf Hitler himself, tasking Ferdinand Porsche with creating an affordable car for the masses.
In 1949, the Beetle made its debut in the United States, gaining popularity thanks to its compact design and affordability, priced at a mere $1600, equivalent to about $12,000 today.
For decades, it was the best-selling car in the world. However, by 1980, the Beetle faced strong competition from Japanese manufacturers in the U.S. market, causing its downfall.
Since 1974, the owner of this Beetle graveyard started gathering as many beetles as he could, in a small warehouse, but his collection grew as he tried to rebuild them. The end result is this massive graveyard full of VW Beetles, T1 & T2, Golfs, and Busses. Let's discover them under this pouring rain!!

Danny and Lesley, Another excellent collaboration between my two favorite urbexers!! I love the format of both of you recording, different viewpoints literally covering the same subject but know that doesn't always work in close spaces. Besides that,Danny is an
excellent videographer/photographer... Anyway... so many wonderful colors showing there back before car makers forgot more than black/silver/white exist. As for my personal history with them, when I was very young my Dad had a late 50's Bug where the turn signals popped out of the upper pillars between the door and quarter windows. Later a couple of T1 Buses, plain and one camper without the pop-up roof. After I graduated and got my license he had a two tone brown/tan Bus that I could drive to work and sometimes on the weekend, where I taught a couple friends to drive manual because they were so easy... I never owned one myself, but years later I owned an early Porsche 924 (developed by VW) and taught another friend how to drive manual in that but that's a story for another time... Thanks for sharing ❤ until your next adventure!!

This location seems familiar from another program I saw. If I am not mistaken this was a junkyard that specialized in Volkswagen. A junkyard is a place one can go and get used replacement parts to repair their car. This place I believe used to ship parts to other states as well.
    Great exploration gentlemen! Thank you.

5:42 HA HA! No No my friend. It does not say, February.
It's an old acronym we Gen X'ers used to say about some thing that was really messed up, torn up, broken down, etc.
    It reads, F.U.B.A.R. !
    Pronounced, FOO--BAR.
It means, Fu*ked Up Beyond All Recognition.

WOW ! Where is this Beetle Graveyard in Pennsylvania? I live in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania would love to go see it. I had two Beetles in the 70's like the two you commented about the Orange one that was in very nice condition that looks exactly like the one I had, the one there was a 1971 and that could have been mine. You also commented on the bright green ones together, I also had one like that also was a 1975 Special Model "La Grand Bug" that would be worth lot's of Money today, who knows that could have been it ?? Great Explore -- 🤗

Looks like a junkyard that specialized in VW, as you said owner probably passed away. Took doors etc off to sell but never got to. I saw a Pennsylvania inspection sticker on the one with the peace sign it was for 1991 that would have been the last year that car was on the road. Over the years my friends and family have had every one of those model cars and i have worked on many of them with one exception the pick up truck. That is an awesome find. I live on Pa. So am very curious where this is at

Hey hey dear Lesley, absolutely amazing explore showing so many VW-beetles and busses but also other interesting models. - Great video, which I even enjoyed watching twice! - At the beginning I loved listening to Danny telling the historical background informations about the VW-cars! Great camerawork by Danny as always! I also loved seeing the vast variety of colours from the VW- beetles. The VW busses are really very iconic and called in German "Omnibus-VW". I was a little bit surprised, that you didn't see this other iconic car from the mid 1950-ies to early 1970-ies, called "Ghia Karmann", an actually very beautiful VW car.
I hope, when I meet you again, that we can also exchange car talks. That would be so awesome! Thank you for that wonderful explore video. - Stay safe, peace and kindest regards from Switzerland.

The Japenese was not the demise of the Beetle. It was emisions. Beetles had no emisions standards. No Beetles were allowed into the US after 1975. But were still made in Mexico and shipped all over Mexico and South america untill 2002.

i looked close, but did not see one like i owned in h.s. she was a 1968 beetle, in deep purple. what made it special was, it did not have stick shift, yet wasn't an automatic either. vw called it an autostick. you started in 'low' and when you got to around 20 mph, you shifted to 'high'. i got many comments from others that drove it. the usual question 'where the heck is the clutch? loved that car, especially when it snowed and when there where lines at the pump!

Before I met my husband in 1974 he had a Beetle. However hornets flew in and attacked. He panicked and lost control taking out a wooden telephone pole and came to rest against a large pine tree in someone's yard. He was bruised but not broken.
He and his BFF both bought Toyota Celica's sporty little cars. The problem with it was that it wouldn't start in rain or snow. I had a 72 Dodge Dart he hated so he insisted that if his car didn't start I should come and pick him up between 1-3am (with our kid then kids). That was until I came into the Trucking Company with one way traffic around the building when it was sleeting and the yard jockey was going the wrong way and we met head on at the building's corner. We both went right and stopped. He came over apologizing for his carelessness but after that I refused to pick him up on account of rain or snow. Someone gave him a ride home one night but everyone thought he should not need help because of rain or snow. Fix his car or trade his car in for one that ran most of the time.

Nice video, so many bugs. It's such a shame about that. If you could at least put them out of the rain then they wouldn't rust so badly. Years ago I wanted to put one in the garden to decorate. My friends pushed me vigorously down the mountain and the brakes didn't work. I then pushed it into first gear, which made a lot of noise and the engine turned over and luckily I slowed down. However, first gear jumped out again by itself and I became faster again. Just through the trees I came to a stop in front of the barn. With the gas tank out of the lawn mower and the breaker cleaned, the engine started. I drove around in the garden and realized it wasn't a decoration, it wanted to go back to the street.

At 60, I remember our first family car was a baby ble beetle! Those cars were soooo cold! Except behind the drvers seat

I had a VW Rabbit in white with red interior. My Dad had a VW Bug in the 1970's, pale yellow with black plastic interior.
