Thank you for the great advice. I started violin in February last year and I can not with a straight bow … but only on the pieces I practiced. When I start a new piece and I read the sheet my bow goes all over the place. I will buy the lessons. I have a teacher coming to my place every Monday but I could use some more tutoring if possible. I do have a dream to play with my daughter and really need to make it happen within the next 5 years.
this is the thing I am trying to learn lately and this video is perfect! I can already play some songs but I noticed I don't bow straight and when I did try, it started sounding scratchy and my wrist feels uncomfortable... This video is really helpful, Thank you so much Miss Alison!
I just wanna thank you for the consistency in posting!! A lot of violin teaching accounts stopped posting 8-ish years ago 💀💀 so seeing that you post often encourages me to keep learning lol :)
Excellent tips. This was soooooooo helpful. I have been very angry with myself for bowing badly. Thank you again. By the way the course is fantastic. Stay well.
*I need help* I just bought my violin a few days ago. I started practicing, but when I used my bow today, only a faint, scratchy, hard sound is coming from the middle of the bow (the end of the bow works perfectly). I added rosin, but it's not working. I tried wiping my bow gently with a microfiber cloth because I thought I added excess rosin, but I still ended up with the same noise. I added more rosin after I wiped some off, but I'm still getting faint, hard, scratchy sound. What do I do?
Hard to say. It could be the bow, could be the rosin, could be the strings - could be all of it. I cant really help you with this over the internet im afraid as I would need to see something like this more in person.
Believe her everyone....the 1 to 30 violin course is truly excellent....I am at currently at song book 2
Thank you for the great advice.

Thank you this video. I have been struggling with bowing. The mirror never worked for me, but I will try the other methods you shared.

👏 👍 Bravo! It's wonderful when one can play the violin with such "feeling, phrasing, vibrato and all that good stuff." 😊🎻 ♫

Are you perhaps tightening your bow too much? I found that was my problem. It was much better when I backed it off a little bit.
@@nancymilawski1048 I cleaned my bow then re-rosined it: It was worked after. The problem was the lack of rosin on my bow.
What if your an intermediate who needs a brush up. I haven't played in a while and I still struggle with keeping the bow moving.
I can’t get any sound out of the top of my bow only the part closest to my hand. Is there anything I can do to fix this?
Rosin?
@@TheOnlineViolinTutor OK thank you
