Wonderful no sew mask. Short and sweet and very clear instructions. Much appreciated.
To all those who have ideas to add- some useful, some “I would have” “you should have” at least have the courtesy if not the gratitude and kindness to thank the woman for her work in providing such a valuable service to us. Don’t be so rude and self centered. She’s giving her time- but more importantly she’s showing her care and compassion for others by doing these videos. Something sorely lacking in our world today.
If you have some “better” ideas then make a couple of them to get the pattern right, film them, explain what your doing, upload them for the benefit of others. Then wait for the comments and see what it feels like.

Thank you for all you do as a nurse and for your easy to make face masks. For this current one, if you find that it's too wide for your face, you can always twist both ends before sliding it over your ears.

Great job !! When I wear my masks i make the ties longer and instead of trying the bottom ones behind my neck I pull them up to the top of my head as well...it helps with the fit under my chin ! Keep up the great work and thanks for sharing !

This was awesome for us non-sewers. After half an hour, I now have two washable face masks and can replace the filter daily. They are comfortable, too. I haven't done the nose wire yet, but the fit is pretty close, especially when I took someone's tip to cut a slit instead of the oval cut-outs for the ear loops. I did keep the bottom sewn seam on the T shirt for one of the edges to give a more finished look, and left the top open to keep the filter in place. Thank you so much for this tutorial!

Did anyone else shriek in horror as she cut the pipe cleaner with THE GOOD SCISSORS?!? I will never forget the lecture I got for using the Sacred Sewing Scissors to cut paper. :) Of course, I am constantly having to buy new scissors as an adult because I do the same dang thing. I love how easy this tutorial is, too.

This is awesome! It's best though, to touch the mask itself as little as possible and clean it before you use it the first time. I have been informed the safest way to put them on is to only handle them from the ear straps, ties or elastic. Thanks for this simple low cost idea!

instead of a "loop hole", just make a slit across. It will function the same and will be much easier to make.
And I noticed your T shirt has long sleeves. Just cut off those two sleeves, cut two slits at the end as "loop holes", insert the filter material inside the sleeve, and you already have TWO masks..maybe even a better one because the filter material will not drop out.

I will donate them because they are both too small for me despite the stretchiness of the Spandex. I am goi g to try some T-Shirt material I have and makes them a bit wider. Okay I made one yesterday for the fun if it. I had made our son a t-shirt quilt last summer so I used the back left over from it. it was snug but works. Wednesday this week my husband will have to wear on to go to his aunts funeral he could not get it on. I sliced it in the middle and added two inches then made a second one it will work for him. I had about a half in left over from where I cut the first one so I added that also to the bigger one

I found that the best material is old, used and unwashed underwear. It has the elasticity and is cheaper than a shirt. Plus since it's used you don't need to worry about waste because you are buying new underwear with Grandpappy Joe's stimulants check. The shape is already there as well so you just have to trim to your face size and it's ready to go. They come in many colors and options and you can open the front hole for breathing outside if needed. There are a few videos on this if you want to see it in action. Good luck to all

A good way to find the dimensions for a custom-sized mask for either a larger or smaller face is to hold up the T-shirt (or whatever stretchy material you are planning to use) to the person's face, and ever so gently tug the fabric (so it is snug like she demonstrates at the end of the video), marking from the middle of one ear, across the face and nose, and back to the middle of the other ear. Mark both ear "points", and then mark the height of the mask on the person's face, from about the upper half of the nose down to just under the chin. (Yes, it is easier to describe than to actually do the measuring!) The reason to use the fabric rather than just using a ruler or tape measure is so you don't have to take the stretch percentage of the fabric into account when making a template. Place the fabric on the table, smooth it out, and draw lines on the fabric in a rectangular shape, and round of the edges using a cup or coaster, adding at least a half inch extra on each ear end. I'd personally just cut a slit rather than a little bitty oval shape like she did, because I can't cut tiny shapes on slippery fabric nearly as neatly as she did! Before cutting out the mask, double the fabric by folding it over, so you have a double thickness of fabric. This gives you the "pocket" to hold the filter and pipe cleaner. When ready to cut the slits or holes for the ears, double check the placement again, and cut one, then try it on, stretch it across like you're putting it on, and check again where the slit needs to be for the other ear. This type of mask is not easily adjustable if the ear holes aren't cut properly, which is why I'm saying to check it again so many times! If someone has breathing difficulties, or for children over age 2, or the elderly, I personally wouldn't add the filter unless their doctor says they should use on; this is because wearing a filter mask might cause increased difficulty breathing, which then causes the person the be fiddling with their mask frequently, which defeats the purpose of wearing a mask.

You can also make one from a sock. Simply cut off the toe end with a pair of scissors and pull it over your head to a mask position. Why not use the other sock as a matching head warmer? Brilliant or what!

Thank you . I had a bunch of old shirts that belonged to my toddlers . All the medical masks I had prior (I have an autoimmune disease) cant fit them. This is perfect and it can have a character they like on it . Plus so easy !!!

Is it possible to put a design on it with heat transfer paper?

I would think so. Not sure how the design would look after being stretched though. I have another mask tutorial that would be perfect for a heat transfer design. There’s no pleats or anything and the mask panel is totally flat on the front
