  • When you're doing SEO for new websites, things can get very stressful. There's a lot to do and you never know wheres the correct place to start.
    In this video i'm going to walk you guys through a brand new case study with one of my personal websites and how I did 2 days of work in the first 30 days and how that has led to a constant stream of traffic that has allowed us to get free feedback from users for us to improve our product.
    I'll be talking about 3 main things I did in the first 30 days and then at the end of this video i'll be talking about what i would do to 10x the growth of this website.
    It's important to note that the initial traffic this website has gotten isn't our full effort of getting traffic, we worked on this website for 2 days and it has now grown to bring in consistent traffic on a month-to-month basis. This work we did was a proof of concept more than anything.
    So let's talk about the 3 main things you need to do to make sure you're correctly doing SEO for new websites.
    1. Understand the SEO space
    This is broken down into two separate parts. #1. Make sure that you understand that main keyword that you will eventually want to rank for. What is that impossible keyword that you would dream to come up #1 for? Well thats what your homepage should eventually rank for and thats what we need to optimize our homepage for. #2 We need to find our content strategy. Is it going to be through our blog? through template landing pages? I recommend you checkout your competitors to see what they've done, because thats exactly what we did for this case study.
    2. Foundational Backlinks
    Backlinks are an extremely important part of any SEO strategy, and it is no different for new websites. Where do you get your first backlinks is a really valid question I get asked often and it is very difficult to answer it, since (unfortunately) it depends. For this case study we decided to launch on product hunt since we saw a lot of our competitors doing the same thing and it worked quite well. We got some really high quality backlinks - more on that in the video.
    3. Internal links
    Once we saw that we had solid backlinks coming in to the homepage we knew we needed to build a little section on the homepage that would point that authority over to those landing pages that we were building with all of that ranking potential.
    How would I 10X the SEO of this new website?
    1. Continue expanding on the template pages. They're clearly working, we just need to double down on them.
    2. Continue getting backlinks - I mention a few ways of doing so in the video.
    3. Start up a blog, probably about marketing tips since that would be a good audience to pitch this product to.
    Let me know what you guys think of this case study i'd love to hear what your thoughts are.

    Internal linking sure does help a lot in redirecting the user traffic to stay inside the site. By the way, congrats on the Ahrefs sponsorship!

    Thanks Jaume. One question: If the (SERP Overlap Score) and (Relevance Score
    ) are over 50, do I have to merge both keywords on one page or can I, but don't have to? For some keywords + city I see different results, sometimes no "Relevance Score" at all and for some cities 40 to 50! So I thought for all cities to make separate pages, is that a good decision?

      @@JaumeRos To avoid keyword cannibalization, for example: "employment agency city" and "temp agency city" sometimes I see google ranke some websites for both keywords, and sometimes not!

      Without seeing your site i’d say to probably make individual pages for cities.

      @@JaumeRos yes! The saas app i’m trying to verify is a lower price point in a typically “low tech” industry. So SEO and google are gonna be my main drivers of traffic. I am working on setting up a blog and thinking of free tools I can build and share, but this audience is typically not very online and almost all interaction Id guess will be through google and long tail keywords.
      Really appreciate the response! been watching a lot of your videos to try and come up with a plan

    Hi Jaume!
    I have problem with indexing my new posts. No article has been indexed on my website for more than 20 days. Every time I upload an article to GSC, I ask for manual page indexing, but none of them are indexed anyway. It just says "Discovered - currently not indexed" and somewhere even "URL is unknown to Google". In my opinion, it is not normal that one article is not indexed for 15 days. Otherwise, from the end of June until today, about 10 articles have been added. Do you perhaps know what the problem is, if there is a problem at all. Can I contact you somewhere to send you my page and see if I'm making mistakes in SEO optimization or something like that? Thanks in advance

    • @JaumeRos
      @JaumeRos  Рік тому

      Hey Kraljevic! Thanks for the question.
      Is this a new domain? How many pages do you have indexed? How much traffic is your website getting? Is there a lot of quality content on these pages?
      From my experience ive seen this happen with new sites, and sites that publish pages with low quality content.
      Let me know if your site checks either of those boxes.

      @@JaumeRos I have about 17 articles indexed. There are about 27 articles uploaded on the site. The texts are 1000-3000 words long. I respect the basic parameters of seo optimization, etc... I contacted my support from hsot and they told me that I had a problem with robots.txt because it was not set properly and they told me that I have to wait 72 hours for the rest of my texts to be indexed. I would like to send you my site so that you can review it and give your opinion, do you have an email or something?

    Hey so I love your videos, but I'm having issues with my newest store. All the e-com SEO vids are often about stores with a huge catalogue. What is your strategy if the store only has 4 products in the same category?
    BTW I know this video isn't e-com related but just wondering.

    • @JaumeRos
      @JaumeRos  Рік тому

      Hey - Great question.
      I’d say the strategy is the same - except its a lot simpler cause you don’t have the complexity of pagination, canonicals etc.
      Not sure if that answers your question.
      What were you thinking might be different?

      @@JaumeRos So, the products are very artsy, they don't really have a functionality nor do they have big informational or commercial search volumes. They're still selling well though, I've sold over 2.500 units last year on Google Ads and the biggest competitors are doing millions in revenue. But now I'm trying to gain traction on the SEO part, as I currently need to spend big on ads for every sale. I really struggle to write content for these products though, as they have no function other than being a nice ornament or gift. Can you really rank high when you only have like 10 websitepages? Or should I forget about the bulk content and just focus on backlinks and UX?

    • @JaumeRos
      @JaumeRos  Рік тому

      Thanks for adding some context.
      You can definitely rank well with 10 pages if you have lots of authority. The thing is that you’re kind of limited by the scope of those pages and how competitive those keywords are.
      So if those 10 pages are competing for really competitive keywords and you have low authority in comparison to your competitors it might be tough.
      Thats why it makes sense to develop informational content to help rank for easier keywords.
      How are your competitors doing it? Do they only have 10 pages as well? Check what they’re doing.
      What about informational content relating to decoration/ furniture?
      And yes, always focus on improving the authority that should always be on the priority list.

    • @s.-8406
      @s.-8406 Рік тому +1

      @@JaumeRos Thanks man I'm definitely going to work on that authority.
      Competitors have done it by spending big on social ads/FB ads back when that was still affordable and now they're just big brands which gave them the authority kind of organically (i think)
      We can write some content about decoration and home decor and wedding and birth gifts, that could be an angle.
      Thank you for the reply!
