- At 12:00:06 the City of Ponca City conducted a weekly test of their Outdoor Warning Sirens on Thursday, October 24th, 2024, the test consisted of about a 2 minute and 20 second Alert.
This 2001 rotates at around 5-6RPM so I’ve been wanting to get to it for a while. Unfortunately it’s unreliable, so this is the result. This is the 3rd and probably last time I try to record it. I was expecting it though. The EMA Director told me it’s been having issues with the rotator belt (what a shocker with it being set to 8RPM) and may have other issues. She’s waiting to get someone up there to look at it but is hoping to replace it entirely since it’s older than the rest of the 2001s and is probably. The ambiance is kinda cool, especially when the T-121 from the power plant south of town activates, just quiet. You’ll hear the T-121 activate at 1:57

Those wasps tho
Don't know why they would replace it, probably something simple, usually is.
@@Blue10AEMia It has radio and rotator belt problems so it wouldn’t be too difficult
@@AWT5020 can you try and record another federal SD-10
@@AWT5020 those are my favorite sirens
@@nicodimatteo There’s plenty of them still around so I’ll run into more SD-10s to record in the future, I have no idea when and where since it’s not a priority
@@AWT5020 Lmfao watch him say “2001s are high maintenance sirens actually” 😂
Its not activating cause it don't wanna get stung 😅😅
Did any other sirens fail?
@@borkluchtalarm I have no idea honestly. Ponca City has their 2001s spaced out so far so I only heard the one to the northwest. The next closest one was upwards of 2 miles to the north and the wind was coming from the south so I couldn’t hear it. All of them besides this SRN seem to be reliable so I’m sure this one was the only failure
@@AWT5020 Ah, okay.
