GCN finally given up on trying to end Hank with ridiculous challenges that he always succeeds at? Right, hand him over to GMBN! 😂
and look how well that turned out for them 😁
And if this doesn't work, there's always GTN for a winter bike ride in a swimsuit after a little swim across the Channel. 😀
You make a great point! 😂 Hank did surprisingly well! What would you like to see Hank do next with us mountain bikers? Red Bull Hardline? An EWS race? 😅
Attempt #127 on Hank's life: Still no.
Next, drop off El Capitan.
Hank is an absolute animal, what a superstar. Doing something full tilt should be called “doing a Hank” 😊
I like it. Full Hank. Just Hank It. 😂
His general bike control and stability sense that got him through. Fantastically well done for a first time mtb'er on a black diamond.
Plus the fact that Hank, in my view, was provided a proper mountainbike.
@@yengsabio5315 I agree
you really think he was first time on a mtb? lol
Hank is actually a pretty decent MTB rider, go check out GCN, there is a video of him doing a multiday MTB ride through the Andes, like proper carrying his bike up 15,000ft mountains and riding down on faint loose tracks made of Andean anti-grip™
@@YourDudeNess1988 "...first time mtb'er on a black diamond." That was what was said by Dark Jedi 918.
Congrats to Rich for finally getting rid of that combover. 👍
Lol.....Long live the "Bobby Charlton" ha ha
The comment I was searching for LoL
Well done Rich!
He's one of us alright 💚
It’s actually the only reason I clicked on this video. I wanted to confirm. Well done mate . 🎉
😂 top man
I aspire to be like Hank. That was crazy scary from a non MTB perspective and he absolutely smashed it. What a beast!
I've been mountain biking for a long time, he was riding over the drops a lot better than I would do!! Well done!
I love Hank, he's enthusiastic and committed and gets the job done ✔ 👏
100%! We always love having Hank on the channel! He was definitely committed to sending those drops! 😅
Having seen Hank's skills on an mtb in Saalbach at the Global Bike Fest earlier in the year, I knew he'd be able, but still love the energy and enthusiasm of both these presenters. Thanks GMBN and GCN for the great vid!
I can't imagine anyone, on their first attempt at mountain biking/downhill biking just hammering their way down. It's extremely scary at first. Most people would start off on simple trails and work their way up. Not sure if Hank has any experience at all mountain biking, but if not, I have all the respect in the world for him even giving it a go.
It's obvious he's quite experienced.
Those of us that watched Hank do that huge ride in the Andes know he's not a beginner by any means. Still fun to watch. Now take Manon to Bike Park Wales and try to get her down a red trail (I believe she is the GCN presenter with the least amount of MTB experience).
I was looking for the first mention of Hank and Mark riding/carrying MTBs to the highest point they could find and then descending for miles....
Watches Hank ride that trail better than I could after riding for a couple of years! He's a legend!!!
Of all the things the GCN family have done, bringing Hank and Ollie to the masses are the crowning moments, the guys are amazing. Well done on the Black Hank, get him to the Aonach Mor World Downhill run!
Back at GCN HQ, "Emergency meeting, in my office now! Hank is still alive! What do we do next?"
Sign him up for Hardline
Serious 100% respect for Hank. I was rooting for you buddy.
I expected him to full send over the roots and crash, mad respect to Hank for saying "nah" to that!
Was it just me that felt like Hanks mum watching this.... So frickin proud of how he smashed it 😍😍😍💪💪💪
Hank smashed it! Being able to ride a black trail is sick, but to also complete a black trail as a beginner is insane!
Wow, Hank did really well. You can only see that he is a roadie on the jumps where it still looks a bit like the „traffic island hop“. Seriously impressive. And of course attitude and enthusiasm it en par with Blake. I guess DYFI bike park is calling.
Wow. He became a more competent mountain biker in half a day than I have in 20 years!
Couldn't stop smiling through that... Amazing Hank, loved it X
Glad you enjoyed it! We had such a blast filming this video! Thanks! 🙌👊
That was impressive. I recently picked up a cheap mountain bike at 38 when I've not ridden a bike since 13. Experience simply peddling on mud was an eye opener - you really have to put a ton of power down just to move. I did my first leap over a log I didn't expect to run into which made me super proud but I can't imagine doing anything like this!
I found the content entertaining but my only caveat is that a little should be said about the importance of investing in some coaching. Yes I know the bike has to be discussed and shown for its capability on the black trails and even a plug for the GMBN merch isn't a bad thing but new riders would benefit hugely from a day at BPW (or any other park or trail centre) just learning the basics from a qualified MTB skills coach. Over the years I've seen so many new riders trying jump and gap lines with no or very little experience and let's be honest, the consequences are high even for experienced riders. Those of us long in the sport should all be keeping new riders in the MTB sport to develop them properly rather than egging on new riders to take to the black trails.
One of the hardest things in mtb is just doing it with out being scared but hank just sent everything
More GMBN and GCN collaborations!!!!! Love it!
Or a Blake and Hank series like the Beaumont and Hank rubs!!! Great content which has left me smiling
Hank is such a good sport. you should make him race an enduro next 😁
Hank was brilliant yes man 👏👏👏👍🏾👍🏾💯
As a beginner in mountainbiking, I can easily see myself in Hank with this video.
Lots'a love, cheers, & Mabuhay, from tropical Philippines! #RideOn #KeepBiking
I think if Richie rode that drop again to show the line and technique at 7:05 - Hank would have learned and followed. All good- that Hank sense of preservation kicked in.
Hank - a future GMBN presenter! Big thumbs up for Hank.
7:29 That's the first time I see Hank backing off from anything :D
Hank did really well! Enjoyed himself at the end once he built the confidence! Great shredding guys! 🤘
Hank is actually very good ! 🤙 There is a mountainbiker constraint underneath that ridiculous lycra who wants to break free and shred. 😃
Hear, hear!
Haha! Well said! 😂
Nice one Hank! We all know Rich Payne will bring the pain but because of that, you get the gains!
What a comment! Well put!😂👊
Hank made me nervous every time he went over a drop. Combining Rich continually telling him to get back along with Hank going over the edge with his arms at full extension are what caused his head to jerk down upon impact...and that's a recipe for going OTB. But (through the power of editing?) it seems he was able to make it down intact.
Nice fun vid boys. Hank has obvs been on a MTB before but he has the bravery and go-for-it attitude you need. Rich..hair...so much better!
Well done Hank! I really love these cross-over videos. And thanks Rich for the excellent coaching for Hank.
Glad you like the collab videos, Steve! Thanks for the support! 🙌
Awesome! I think Hank should take Rich on an epic road ride!
GCN: We're having a difficult time trying to kill Hank.
GMBN: Hold my beer.
That is impressive! Well done Hank!
Hank did so well! We had such a blast filming this one! 👊
This needs to be a series. 10 episodes and watch Hank be better than most of us viewers.
A bit late to the party, but that was a brilliant video. Hank's smile after he sent the drop nearly into the little fence was awesome. He's clearly a talented chap. And another video on a harder trail would be most welcome!
One of the best videos from either channel all year, complete gem!
yeah hank you got it bruh !!
I think that the second time down, Hank sent the awkward rooty drop section better than Rich. I'm pretty sure it's not Hank's first time on a mountain bike either?
Clipless pedals arent good for him imo since his bike lifting technique depends on lifting with legs too much.
ok, that first part definitely not, Rich was fully in control of that drop, keeping the front low and under control, Hank just used his clips to hop off without any control. he still did impressive work for a newer rider, but don't overhype it either
He's been riding MTB for years, just nothing serious.
He has been in an mtb cross over video before. I would have felt better if they gave him Red Tracks before black… but clicks I guess
that feeling when you teach and people learn really well or when your friends teach you stuff and you figure it out together is amazing
Hank is such an absolute legend.
This was almost as entertaining as watching Blake try to destroy a gravel bike on GCN! 😆
Hank is awesome! Very surprised how well he did. More please!
More to come for sure! We're stoked with how well Hank got on! 👊
I loved the splash screen; "Will he die?"
Wow he just absolutely killed that! Hitting bigger features than I do as a rider with years under his belt! Ballsy!
That vid was AWESOME to watch!!!
Great job Hank!!! The crossover vids are rapidly becoming my favorite!!
Way to go, Hank! Thanks to Rich's coaching! MTB gives you that adrenaline rush!
#gmbn
the pure joy of mountain biking.
Fantastic effort Hank! Thumbs up to both of you. I am a beginner and watching Hank improve within a day so much gives me great motivation! Awesome video guys! On other note the mos around the forest looks beautiful!
That was great, more Hank please! His enthusiasm is awesome.
Hank on an Enduro bike riding black diamond trails made me grin all the way through the video 😁 kudos for have the balls to ride it all 💪🏾
in awe! Hank that was magic! Great coaching and encouragement
That was RAD! Well done Hank AKA Blake’s stunt double 😅
Hank, you have a great Blake impression. Rich, you are an awesome coach.
Hanks been practising! bloody good job, not easy trails
watching that was unreal. well done Hank, as a roadie that's inspirational. Need to do something harder!
for real though!! i never seen a roadie had fun and smile that much!! we need more vids of him hitting black trails!!
I think Hank is really an undercover Mountain Biker .Always game and that was fun to watch.
This reminds me of the first time I got my full suspension trail bike after riding a 100mill cross country hardtail. I was so confident that I was riding everything, even black trails. But after a couple bad crashes I lost it all.
But Hank has definitely done this before, maybe in another life, lol. He did really well. I even applauded at the end of the video.
Good on you Hank. I love these GCN/GMBN cross overs
Hank is such a legend!
Hank being Hank, superb!
Excellent job! So happy for Hank!!
Absolutely insane! I ride a fair bit of trail but that drop would have put me off still and he just fookin did it! Awesome!
Jump line next? He hops really well!
Top effort Hank, well impressed
Great! Just loved this one. You can always count on Hank! Next, Hardline!
You can tell by his level of bike control outside of mountain biking that it was never going to be like a beginner riding these trails. It reminds me much of me trying snowboarding, have skied all my life at an advanced level and went boarding as a beginner with friends that had boarded for quite some time, within a few days I was confidently hanging with them, not so much because I was a great snowboarder but because I understood the body positioning and the mountain to a high level.
I have similar experiences, I did competetive alpine skiing from age 7-17 and started also water-skiing at age 13. I picked that upp really quick and even won the junior nationals the next summer. All my friends from snow skiing that tried water-skiing also picked it up fast, all long time waterskiiera that watched them said things in the line "ive never seen anyone learn that fast". It goes to show that similar sports where body balance crosses over a large deal. And I'd say even just being a good athlete in general means you have a mindset to take in instructions and process info to action in an efficient way. My two brothers in law, who are orienteering runners and cross country skiers also picked it up amazingly fast. And these sports are not that similar as such.
Om a side note, have you felt that your background in skiing has helped with your mountain biking? I feel that I've progressed rather fast and could tackle steep, wet and red/blackish trails within the first year. Probably something about being used to speed and an understanding of line choice.
@@widkin yup I’ve definitely found understanding positioning and the racing line in skiing helped me in mountain biking, and also actually very unrelated, track days in cars. Probably why you see so many pro mountain bikers take up Moto-X and become pretty good. Do you remember Shaun Palmer, he was so awesome at multi sport and said that once you can race one thing well, learning another becomes much easier. Side note, I’ve never waterskied but I’m now intrigued to try it.
Totally agree with you on that analogy, I also skied to a decently high level including a fair bit of freestyle and park riding. A friend got me to have a go on his snowboard and I could just do it straight away, was straight into linking turns and riding full runs down the mountain at decent speed, and was messing about popping little 180s and 360s off of small bumps on my first day as I was totally confident on the mountain before ever touching a snowboard. Probably helped that I surf too and used to skateboard.
But the point is if you are a high standard in a similar sport it gives you a massive advantage when starting out. Confidence and the ability to commit to something and control you body weight goes a long way in any sport
I'm really impressed with Hank on this trail, great video!
Wow. Just wow. What a ride! Great challenge, great video.
Hank is clearly GCN's best mountain biker, he sent all those feature with ease.
dont forget about si
Si used to race XC, he's pretty handy on a MTB.
i think that one of the gcn presenters is a former mountain biker (sy, maybe?), but hank was most definitely going for it! amazing, and super-fun to watch!
Maybe we'll have to put that to the test! 👀 We need to take the rest of the GCN presenters for a shred down a black trail to see how they get on! 😉
@@gmbn Ollie will shit himself!
You are a machine Hank!
What a fantastic vid! Well done Hank. Some of that stuff I wouldn’t ride myself!
Time to recruit hank to gmbn!
Hanks joy is inspiring. 😅 Cheers!
Has to be one of the funniest videos to date. Cheers gents!😂more please. Hank is a G
awesome Hank! Congrats!
I think we need more Hank on GMBN. He's great for a roadie.
I've been mountain and road biking for years and the biggest problem you can have technique wise is leaning the bike. On the road bike you can't lean too much to avoid sliding out but on a mountain bike it's the opposite.
Well done Hank, top notch!
Hank is a beast in GCN, and was great on the trails! Awesome job gents!
Nothing like taking your friend down a trail for the first time. So good!
Amazing, I am totally impressed Hank
That’s no normal roadie that’s a HANK 🤣😎✌️
A pro’s a always a pro! Sick lines and commitment 🎉
That was great! Nice job, Hank...
6:40 Wow. What a beautiful forest!
Finally, Rich gets his head shaved!! The look suits you mate, embrace it.🤙
Best feel good gmbn video for ages. Brilliant 🎉❤!
Smashed it!!
Great video.Hank flys on the road.. He didnt turn up totally clueless , What a nice Orbea with fox 38's.
Just seen the second half of the video and Hank did brilliantly
Great job Hank!
Embarrassingly, I reckon I'm about the same level as Hank... but I've done 18 months of MTB
Get Blake to teach Hank to jump!
i did BPW a year ago as a a roadie of 25yrs getting into mtb and managed to do roots manouvres on the second day. went back this year and struggled on the blacks. I guess we know what hank does with his free days off the roadbike! theres certainly some skill there from previous practice :)
Well done guys great stuff.
Nicely done squire.
