Love those thornless varieties. Following your progress in training the canes. Blackberries seem to go from 0-60 in doing what they want it seems. Nice growth in such a short period of time. Happy Gardening.
I've never tried these. I hear they're a bit of a compromise, taste to berry size, not being quite as good as the smaller ones from Arkansas, but much bigger. Of course, the best is no thorns followed by constant bearing. I'm still not seeing blooms. Waiting patiently Mr. Peter.
Ours didn't start producing blooms until fall during the first year, but in subsequent years they have produced through most of the year. They do lose flavor during rainy seasons, otherwise they taste pretty good and are worth it. Wishing you the best of luck with these!
what an awesome setup you have in your back yard! I'm jealous of your trellis setup for sure I had a few thoughts and questions while watching: - that thumbnail image can't be a prime ark freedom blackberry... i was very confused when I saw that! - at 1:02 I see a pink bloom, however PAF's have white blooms - that's very strange! - you're the first person I've seen to cut off laterals after also topping the plant, I'm very interested to see how that turns out - I might start doing that as well! - how do you prevent them from spreading out the bottom of the planters and into your yard? I have a bunch in containers in my back yard and keeping them from spreading out the bottom is a never-ending job - Do you plan on experimenting with any other varieties of Blackberries?
The thumbnail is the blackberries that you see in the video, but since they haven't fruited yet, I wanted a representative blackberry there to display they're blackberries so I pulled one from online. Within the video, I guess it could be that they're not Prime-Ark's based on your bloom observation. Since this video, a thornless cane or two have emerged from the very plant you speak of and they look like the others...I guess. I ordered from Simmons Plant Farm so, if they didn't send me Freedom's, they sent me something. If you can guess what they are, let me know. I'll do another update once they start fruiting/blooming IF they do bloom this year that is. They still haven't. Yeah, I'm often first to do all manner of things. I believe I discussed why in this or another video. I'm tightly growing in raised beds and pruning is how you manage that. I just pruned back 2 beds of peppers to rejuvenate. Most don't do that either. That video will be out next Friday. As far as blackberries spreading from under the raised beds, I'm hoping the fabric under the beds will stop it. It was a consideration when I planted. I know they can be aggressive. Where they could emerge if they send up plants outside of the fabric is mowed yard so all I can say is we'll see. Mowing near my older beds seemed to keep stragglers at bay. My blackerry adventures is limited to Freedom for now. I have an overall small fruit plan that includes blackberry, grape, blueberry, and fig. I have only so much sanity for all that I do so I'm forced to limit operations. Figs alone could drive me insane as they're addictive to try and get the next variety it seems. I've got 8 and I'm forcing myself too stop. Best.
@@C3Voyage I know the addiction all too well, I've bought over 50 varieties of blackberries and raspberries alone, plus 20 varieties of blueberries. I'm only at 3 figs for now, will try to keep that fruit under control! The plant in your thumbnail and in the videos definitely looks like Prime Ark Freedom - I just meant the image of the blackberry fruit itself in the thumbnail is not a PAF. Also the canes and leaves of all your plants looks exactly like Freedoms, I'm just not sure why that one little one has a pink bloom. Wonder if that single plant is not a freedom? I have videos on my page of different varieties, including Freedoms from back in March!
Always enjoy your videos
Thanks!
Very nice setup you have there. I am going to start growing these this year.
Thanks and best of luck to you on yours!

Is it possible to get prime ark shipped to Europe(Sweden)?
I'm not sure. This is who I bought from here: www.simmonsplantfarm.com. Give them a call.
