Excellent video. This was sorta what I was looking for.
I’m looking at making sushi at home and I’ve been researching parasite destruction in fish and where to locate such fish etc. But I’ve come across some confusion, I see in the regulation in some states it says that Tuna is exempt from freezing, however I’ve noticed some studies that mention examining parasites in Tuna species for the purpose of the study. So I’m looking at it as, I need all fish to be super frozen for my sushi so I’ve located frozen tuna saku blocks near my house.
I was just wondering, is the salmon at places like Costco or Sam’s super frozen? There is a fish supplier near my house that has fresh “sashimi grade” fish (don’t know if it’s never frozen) but I’d rather frozen fish since I’m not gonna use a whole salmon filet (whole side) in a single day making sushi.

Thank you so much! I was watching the TV show "Alone" last night and a guy pulled in a large trout from a lake in Patagonia. When he gutted it he found some fat roe clusters and ate them raw on the spot. I was intrigued and wondered if the whole fish could have been consumed raw. I live in NW Georgia not far from a number of trout streams so It wasn't idle curiosity. Your video was very helpful and I really appreciate your in depth research and attention to detail.

BRAVO‼️Well articulated vid ‼️I do not like cooked salmon. HOWEVER, I DO like Sushi so I decided to try it Sushi grade. I’m good with it. As for having any worries about parasites, I do love researching the origin AND the place I purchase. I only engage the “Sushi” experience twice per month and as a precaution, ingest oregano oil (3 drops in 1oz. water) daily for at least 3 days consecutively along with Fresh garlic tea and one day of Activated Charcoal… just in case🙂… so far, so good . Thank you so much for the clarity and your research .👍

Trying to make my coustomers knowledgeable to what is best for them is hard .
Farmed they wont buy ,they think sustainable fish from the ocean is going to harm them via there diets and living environment .
Freash not frozen is what they want in Australia, they tend to snob frozen.
Over seas fish is also a deal breaker they dont want asain farmed and packaged.
And some people are completely unaware or knowledgeable of the reality of seasonal fish ,that is why we offer frozen and there is farmed forced by the public demand on there favorite fish they need to be breed .
Than how it should be eaten is also a interesting experience when they can not tell the difference between alreadycooked prawns to uncooked

Some Italians give fish a quick rinse in white vinegar before preparing it. I do this at home. I make a small bowl of vinegar, give the fish a quick dip (10-15 seconds) and then rinse with fresh water before patting dry. I would think that this would help deter bacteria.

A Japanese Medical Colleague of mine told me that the fish caught for Sushi in Japan usually gets stored in ice on the fishing boats while they are transported back to port. The fish is not frozen, but the prolonged exposure to cold usually is enough to kill the parasite and the eggs!

I consider fish that I catch, filet, vacuum seal, and flash freeze to be sushi grade, and I can eat it raw. I do that for blackfish, tuna, black sea bass, and fluke. The only sushi grade fish we buy is salmon and frozen hamachi loin. Basically, I always thought sushi grade just meant "super" fresh and higher end cut.

Sushi is perfectly fine, you freeze the fish for a couple of days to kill anything that's alive in it and you will be perfectly fine. You want to do a deep freeze to kill any eggs in it which are the problem, not the live things. It's simple and has been done for centuries. I don't even like cooked fish anymore, I pretty much only eat raw now. Freeze the fish, problem solved. Also smell the fish, you can smell whether or not it's safe to eat. Listen to your instincts, if your instincts tell you it's not safe to eat, then don't eat it.

DUDE please, _please_ *please* *_PLEASE_* fucking warn us before you show disgusting medical video footage like that again! (I am specifically referring to those gross parasites in people's throat's and to a somewhat lesser extent those fish internals/insides/guts with those humongous worms sticking out of its organs) 🤢🤮🤮
Edit: I finished watching the rest of the video, and except for the omittance of a gross medical footage warning, this video is really awesome bro! This is such great information and that is rarely packaged this neatly! The video is incredibly informative, deliciously coincise, easy to understand for the average consumer, and epically condensed resulting in an undoubtedly much improved absorption rate and the absolute highest possible chance that the viewer retains the information and is able to recollect it at a later date. This is especially important because afaik this information is never taught in any school whatsoever, and for all the average Joe's and Jowette's out there, who might even currently be watching this video (If so, hello kind sir/madam! I hope you're currently having a great day 😊 👍), access to this information has the potential to be extremely useful, be exquisitely handy, be of undoubtedly great value, and albeit slightly hyperbolic, might even save a life or two here and there, especially considering those Joe's or Jowette's might have babies or young children to care for, or perhaps even their parents, or they might even be old folks or otherwise immunocompromised people themselves!
Thanks for making this video bro! It is very much appreciated ❤️👍😊😊
