I do miss the pulse graphs though... I used to compare them because I only pulsed for 1-2 secs, and the drop across that 5 second pulse could vary quite a bit between two similar batteries.....
For example: Batt.A might initially sag to 3.6V, and quickly drop (in a linear fashion) to 3.3v over the 5 seconds, while Batt.B, despite also initially sagging to 3.6V, might decrease _logarithmically_ to 3.3V, mostly retaining that 3.6v for the first 2 seconds (which matters to me), before sharply crashing to 3.3v during the last 3 seconds (Which wouldn't matter to me).
I really just wanted to show that there is at least *_some_* unique usefulness to be had from those old pulse graphs. (At least for the first 3 or 4 pulses.)

Great video. Very thorough. I’m glad you mentioned the longevity of the cells at the very end. From my research, the 30Q really is the best 3000mAh/15A (20A) battery when comparing the overall results. The VTC6 suffers a significant capacity loss after 50 cycles. Because the VTC5A has such a solid reputation, due to bias, many just stick with the brand when seeking a 3000mAh version. I think the 30Q is a magnificent performer.

    Excellent video, thank you.
That is a whole lot easier to understand
May I make a suggestion? Make a excel spreadsheet of all of the results in future, and make it downloadable, That way everyone can then simply use the file and sort the batteries into whichever order that they wanted, as per which spec is the most important to them - internal resistance, voltage sag, watt hour at 10A & 15A

You are a superlative teacher. I learn so, so, SO much from you. Years ago, when I first started following you, I had several moments of true panic as I realized how dangerous these batteries are, ESPECIALLY when buying from shady places on the internet. I immediately threw all of my "purple efest" batteries of unknown origin out and started buying from one of your recommended sources. And now I take everything I absorb from you out into the world to my friends and family to make sure we all stay as safe and informed as possible. Thank you for everything you do for the community!

Iv been using hg2s for a while now, I dont really go above 68 watts but overall I am happy with longevity of a fully charged cell as well as performance, i can see if you were using a single cell device how sony or samsung would be a better choice, once I retire my hg2’s I will deffinitly try another type of 18650 as per your data suggests, thx mooch!! Keep it up, I hope your enjoying making the content as much as the community is enjoying watching and learning from you, truly I am grateful for your knowledge.

Another incredibly informative video. That's amazing that you've done this much work into battery research and the really important stuff that the Ohm's law is just not enough to figure out, and I'm just hearing about it. When I first started vaping no one asked me what kind of coil I was looking for what wattage I was going to be using or what amperage of battery I needed. I followed the instructions in the manual that came with the mod it's a "regulated" mod but over the last four now 5 videos I've learned that the pamphlet Inside the Box may have been a generic pamphlet because it's not making as much sense as you are. Keep it up, just wish I knew this before I bought all those batteries. Thanks a bunch Mooch and keep making the videos

A great video again Mooch Thenk You, I Like the Sony VTC6 in my mods running at around 100w, I find the Samsung 30Q seems to run out of power sooner, I have a set of LG HG2s and was a bit disappoinrted with them and I get low battery warning about 2/3 of the way through a cycle as the vaoltage got closer to 3.5v a lot sooner than either of the others. I ran the LGs at around 70w and they just about hold up, at much lower wattages they are still fine

I look forward to every video you post. I have been learning so much more than I thought I knew about cells. I am curious if you recommend that I not fire a dual 18650 regulated mod below 2.5 volts or something more like 2.75 volts as a rule of thumb? I am a low wattage subohm vaper and usually build a .2 ohm single coil N80 and 40W at about 3V is my go to but is it bad for the cells for me to vape at any lower wattage on this build? Thanks again for your time Mooch. Looking forward to the next one.

    • @batterymooch
      @batterymooch  6 років тому +1

The display shows you the output voltage of the regulator unless there is a separate battery voltage display. You can use the coils at any voltage that fits they way you want to vape. A regulated mod should refuse to fire at around 3.2V for each battery. Check the manual for your particular mod.

Great video. Watt Hours are definitely a better way to judge battery performance than amps and mAhs. I look forward to seeing more of these shootout videos. I can also see having this kind of information in the minds (and wallets) of consumers should encourage manufacturers to produce better batteries with lower internal resistances/chemistry. I think for the most part they have been relying on consumers being ignorant of how batteries rate against each other and hoping that printing ridiculous performance numbers on the wraps will cause your average Joe to just buy it. This is performance accountability.

Thanks for the great info, I have both the LG HG2 & Sony VTC6 (two sets of each), have yet to use the latter.....yet the LG HG2 is a dang good battery. I never allow mine to discharge below 3.7V, has been recharged many times & unlike some others I have, the performance is still there! Love your UA-cam channel, hope to learn more about batteries.;-)

Another great video. It is really hard to compare batteries from the figure when there are multiple of them performing on multiple A levels. Now all we need to is to calculate our average A usage then look at respective values. However, I still cannot tell the impact of Vsag and Wh combined. Maybe you can come up with a proportional equation to calculate overall efficiency regarding these two values. E.g. Battery Quotient= 3.Wh - 2.Vsag. With this quotient, I can calculate which battery suits me best for my A usage. Thank you

The Dislikes on your videos obviously come from those using batteries incorrectly! Keep it up Mooch 👊

I am really interested in seeing how the cells perform after some cycling. Have you managed to finish the testing you mentioned in the video? From the datasheets it seems the VTC6 might be the worst performer while the HG2 could jump to the top. I would really love to know the truth.

The cycle life testing? No. It’s been interrupted several times. I have a P26A/VTC5A cycle life shootout going on now and then hope to restart the 3000mAh shootout. It will take a couple of months to finish though.
