For the record there IS a warband of classic green-tinted "Sons of Horus" still around in 40k canon. They're called the True Sons and they maintain loyalty to Horus instead of Abbadon. Also Lucius beat Garviel pretty soundly in their rematch.
My Chaos Marines are a True Sons warband, I just love that there’s a group of Sons of Horus that told Abbadon to jog on when he was forming the Black legion.

I'd have prefered skirmishes like Prospero to start between individual legions that Horus tries to step in to stop, but only ends up galvanising the emergent "loyalists" and "traitor'" sides more. Perhaps Horus steps in to save a peaceful Alien civilisation that tried to ally with him, and is forced to kill imperial army or Space wolves to do so, standing up for the newly conqured worlds with a general confusion of command between the imperium, since he is the warmaster, the emperors apointed ruler, yet the wolves and administratum are under orders from the Siglite, the emperors right hand. Regarding recruiting gangers for the Sons of Horus: the Space Wolves were recruited from viking raiders, and Alpharius and his initial handful of followers were space pirates, so it's not like this kind of thing is exactly unprecedented in the Imperial military. It even works out okay quite a lot of the time: the Armageddon and Necromundan regiments of the Imperial Guard recruit from hive gangers, and they both have a highly-respected history of service.

12:19 There is actually one! A splinter of the Black Legion made up of members with Horus’s geneseed. They’re called The True Sons and people have made some pretty radical paint jobs for them.
There's a guy who does angry rant videos about WH40k. And to paraphrase "if you have Lorgar, KorPharon, and Erebus tied up and a gun with 2 bullets; shoot Erebus with both and then beat his corpse with the gun until it breaks".
If only horus hadnt turned because some random entities had shown him a dubious vision while his brother was standing there telling him it was a trick but somehow said "duh i know" then woke up like "so anyway i joined them"
I am making a sons of horus 40k army they use black legion rules but are painted sons of horus style and have the reavers squads and justaerin. And as you said violence in a short ammount of time is a great way to describe the sons of horus
If you want 40k Sons of Horus you're probably looking for Thrice-Cursed Traitors: the True Sons, the Wolves of Horus or the Sons of the Eye (could hypothetically regroup and escape from the Black Legion's ranks). The Chosen of Heiros left Black Legion for some reason, not sure what's going on with them. I like warbands like this because it's easy to follow what's known and fill in whatever you want with the rest. You want them to run around with Vashtorr? to embrace Khorne and/or Tzeentch but they reject Slaanesh and Nurgle? maybe you don't like Abaddon, so your Abaddon is actually a fake, (an ancient Alpha Legion Praetor) running around uniting Thrice-Cursed stragglers and using them for cryptic schemes (and maybe even your "Abaddon" model is sporting the old green as a ploy to recruit them).
I like the Sons of Horus. So much so, I have both a Black Legion (my 1st 40k army) and Sons of Horus army. It's good to be first among traitors, heel of heels and, with no uncertainty, the bad guys.
Dunno if you know or if anyone cares but there is a faction of Sons of Horus who still exist in 40k. The "True Sons of Cthonia" are a warband who keep their colors and legion culture and hate Abby and the Black Legion. They also are just renegades so rarely use Chaos. Great video!
I have a Sons of Horus chaos space marine warband called „TRUE SONS“. And a back story how they survived the scouring and the traitor legion wars in the eye of terror.
You ever think of how Horus is kinda like Sigmar when he got stabbed by his buddy and ended up in a weird dream? But Sigmar's dad shows up and is like "Hey, man. Itll be cool. Fight Chaos". No dad comes to save Horus.... I think.... Its been like 20 years since I read the first Horus Heresy books.
Horus really showed one of the most human side during the Interex incident, too much pressure and hope had put on his shoulder by others and also himself, and it only took one bad day, after all even primarchs can’t part their human nature.
I think the emperor thought the oldest son was ready to handle the house while on a buisness trip. But didn't bother to talk about what to do in a emergency
Well, Horus died stabbed by a blade that can kill anything, then he got hit with conscience virus by the power of chaos undivided which is greater than a primmarchs by lightyears, the emperor was right until thos happened its a far fetched happening
The Horus heresy spans well over 60 books ...the siege of terra adds more to that count and the scouring is what happens when his forces lose and about their retreat into the warp. Then there are the other books and novellas that are to do with it ...think more around 100 ...and you're closer
They REALLY should've got Guilliman to be the Warmaster. He feels like someone who would be calm enough to deal with infinite paperwork and complaints.
Guilliman wasn’t universally respected and was seen as one of the ‘runt’ primarchs during the Great Crusade. I think Sanguinius would’ve been the better pick.
well its getting more nuanced now. With the event in the books showing that Horus did know that the vision wasnt real but still choosing to rebel anyway, and now with the lastest book showing that horus is not losing control to corruption and is instead in complete control and about to elevate into the 5th chaos god.
@@_NutcasE_ that’s both cool and weird that he knows he’s being lied to by Erebus and daemons and still chooses to betray his father and his brothers not until his death does he cry and regret it which is well foolish but hey hindsight is 20/20

one thing you forgot to mention is what defiened the sons of horus while all space marines united by being that Space Marines/Astartes all have something that makes them unique even the Ultramarines have things that make them unique and no it's not being the golden standart! So what makes the sons of Horus unique well: the 16th excel in the Aussault and They famous spear tactic for this very reasons but there is more to it they fight with Cunning and Honor. an exemple of this is when Garviel Lokan the 10th company captain fought Lucious in a training battle. Lucius asked how do Luna Wolves(sons of Horus) fight and then engaged Lokan. what Lokan then did was, he step to the side while Lucius was charging him raised his hand an Bitchlabed him. this all happened in one motion one quick move. Lokan in the seconds the fight lasted anylised Lucios and when Lucious charged without thinking Lokan saw that weakness steeped asided and Bitchslapt Lucious using hiw own Momentum against Him Afterwords Lokan said "this is how Luna Wolves Fight" They analyise their enemy for weakpoints and constantly harass them not giving them time to breath. they priorities the enemy leaders so sow chaos in the ranks for that very reason. They also were influenced by the cathonian gang like culture which you could see in some of the Hairstiles they used example Abaddon. their Primarchs ability was Charisma or in the words of the famous Garviel Lokan "his Words sound like Honey" while Space Marines do inherite some of their Primachrs traits I do not know if Horuses Geneseed make his Space marines more Charismatic Lastly Their Geneseed makes a portion of their Legion look Like Horus tho I do not know how Large that portion is these Legioneris were Ironicle called Sons of Horus which made more sense when they were still Luna Wolves
Imho after reading the Horus Heresy it seems like most of what happened was on traitor Primarchs/their seconds/Erebus and now they blame the loyalists despite being directly responsible for the shitty state Imperium is in and also perpetuating the war with Imperium hence damning and destroying humanity further.
I can see the advantages of the 16th and the signs of what they will become. On one side gangs are very similar to armies. They have a strict hierarchy, the people who make up it's members see each other as brethren of a sort and they work towards a common goal involving violence. Unlike military organizations though, gangs see themselves and their leader as the endpoint. Whatever the leader wants to do the gang do too, as long as it serves the gang's interests. After Horus took command of the legion they were no longer servants of humanity, they were Sons of Horus.

"...did the F*cky Wucky" It's like Chaucer is in the room with us.
So close to the 18th Legion, VULKAN LIVES 🔥🔥🔥
Yes brother VULKAN LIVES!!!!🔥🔥🔥
Regarding recruiting gangers for the Sons of Horus: the Space Wolves were recruited from viking raiders, and Alpharius and his initial handful of followers were space pirates, so it's not like this kind of thing is exactly unprecedented in the Imperial military. It even works out okay quite a lot of the time: the Armageddon and Necromundan regiments of the Imperial Guard recruit from hive gangers, and they both have a highly-respected history of service.
To put into perspective how big of a fuck up they were, there wouldnt be 40k without them or at the very least, it wouldnt be grimdark
That description at the beginning LOL describes Horus so much haha. Love your series.
Oh sweet, nice to see some of my art (0:04)
Oh shit?
Really?
@@TheBoneZone40k Yep, some of my old loyalist Sons of Horus I made for Roboutian Heresy. Can be found in DeviantArt under Nemris
"He turned us into Killers !!!" - Unknown SoH legionnaire
Every time I think of Magnus finding Horse and erbus in the warp all I can think about is that breaking bad meme where Walter is yelling at hank from the car
Says “Holy terror” at 6:10. That’s what happens when the Night Haunter is on the brain.
Lol.
*The Emperor replied. Any human emotion was bereft of his tone.*
Lmao.
That background picture by nemris is actually tied to the Roboutian Heresy as in they are ALL loyalists in that scenario
I would love to see a corrupted-but-pre-Istvann Massacre Sons of Horus detachment that got lost in the Warp emerge into realspace in Imperium Nihilus and try to bluff their way into Dante's presence without knowing anything about what has happened in the past 10,000 years.
Horus looks like Musolini
12:19 There is actually one! A splinter of the Black Legion made up of members with Horus’s geneseed. They’re called The True Sons and people have made some pretty radical paint jobs for them.
HORUS HORUS HORUS HORUS
LETS FUCKING GO
5:56 I thought you were gonna say "the night haunter's war crimes"
he'd need more than a filing cabinet to keep track of *those*
Ah yes, the "im the horus heresy" of the most warhammering forty thousand baldy
I just started reading the Horus Heresy.... and yeah.... F Erebus!
He is kind of the root cause of everything
There's a guy who does angry rant videos about WH40k. And to paraphrase "if you have Lorgar, KorPharon, and Erebus tied up and a gun with 2 bullets; shoot Erebus with both and then beat his corpse with the gun until it breaks".
If only horus hadnt turned because some random entities had shown him a dubious vision while his brother was standing there telling him it was a trick but somehow said "duh i know" then woke up like "so anyway i joined them"
Let Horus’ treacherous husk forever be damned to torment and cruelty at the hands of his malevolent benefactors!
*spits on Worldbreaker
I am making a sons of horus 40k army they use black legion rules but are painted sons of horus style and have the reavers squads and justaerin. And as you said violence in a short ammount of time is a great way to describe the sons of horus
The salamanders are very nice. You should make a video on them.
3:16 Never forget the only lovable character there: Tarik mustache Torgaddon
pour one out for the real one
Erebus may have lit the match but the primarchs were a powder keg waiting to explode. Lorgar would have done the heresy if Horus hadn’t fallen
5:44 bro that shit machete joke had me wheezing! I’ve never heard a more accurate description of it before 😂
Also the story about how they earned their original name was badass.
"We surrender! Tell the Emperor to call of his wolves!"
“ c’mon Loken, relax “ - Sons of Horus as they perform things the Emperor clearly prohibits in their cabal 😂
I swear to god with these intros you can hear the smile in this man's voice. Either that or he's high out of his mind.
I remain a Luna Wolf…
Horus really showed one of the most human side during the Interex incident, too much pressure and hope had put on his shoulder by others and also himself, and it only took one bad day, after all even primarchs can’t part their human nature.
I think the emperor thought the oldest son was ready to handle the house while on a buisness trip. But didn't bother to talk about what to do in a emergency
Well, Horus died stabbed by a blade that can kill anything, then he got hit with conscience virus by the power of chaos undivided which is greater than a primmarchs by lightyears, the emperor was right until thos happened its a far fetched happening
Ah yes the backstory chaos space marines
If you think they're bad you should hear what their primarch did.
Solid vid today! Can't wait for the Abaddon vid!
The Horus heresy spans well over 60 books ...the siege of terra adds more to that count and the scouring is what happens when his forces lose and about their retreat into the warp.
Then there are the other books and novellas that are to do with it ...think more around 100 ...and you're closer
I really hope we get more 30k books following from the end and the death v3. I would love to see what comes after.
They REALLY should've got Guilliman to be the Warmaster.
He feels like someone who would be calm enough to deal with infinite paperwork and complaints.
It does sound like horus was promoted beyond his abilities and had a nervous breakdown.
Guilliman wasn’t universally respected and was seen as one of the ‘runt’ primarchs during the Great Crusade. I think Sanguinius would’ve been the better pick.
I think it’s because Guiliman repeatedly expressed doubt about killing all of the Xenos when he wanted to make peace with the friendlier ones.
The fall is always juicy especially after all that ego and pride only a fool would trust Erebus same with Horus being convinced by a false vision
well its getting more nuanced now. With the event in the books showing that Horus did know that the vision wasnt real but still choosing to rebel anyway, and now with the lastest book showing that horus is not losing control to corruption and is instead in complete control and about to elevate into the 5th chaos god.
@@_NutcasE_did Aaron demski wrote it? Cause it sure sounds like him and his hate boner for the imperium
@@_NutcasE_ that’s both cool and weird that he knows he’s being lied to by Erebus and daemons and still chooses to betray his father and his brothers not until his death does he cry and regret it which is well foolish but hey hindsight is 20/20
@@alsonallu8642 just seems strange he was going 100% the direction of Chaos and thinking his direction would be better then with his brothers and Father guess he thought he was better or would’ve been a greater god or leader but against the 4 Chaos gods that’s a long shot
@@Channel-23s well the decision makes alot lot more sense in the HH novel end and death as he is actually himself trying to ascend to godhood while blaming Emperor of the feat.
Mr.Bones, I don't normally sub right away. But you Mr.bones are the exception. 🤘
thanks!
2:18 The Imperial Fists get theri recruits from many places, including NECROMUNDA specifically looking for gangers.
lol imagine getting stabbed with a magic poop knife and deciding to join the guys who stabbed you
4 more episodes until the cluster fuck that is the 20th legion!
Oh, I’m liking THIS channel already, absolutely putting notification on for this :)
You know what else is a big problem? The fact that this isn’t a raptors video.
Actually Black Legion troops with patches of Horus Green would be kinda cool!
one thing you forgot to mention is what defiened the sons of horus while all space marines united by being that Space Marines/Astartes all have something that makes them unique even the Ultramarines have things that make them unique and no it's not being the golden standart! So what makes the sons of Horus unique well:
the 16th excel in the Aussault and They famous spear tactic for this very reasons but there is more to it they fight with Cunning and Honor. an exemple of this is when Garviel Lokan the 10th company captain fought Lucious in a training battle. Lucius asked how do Luna Wolves(sons of Horus) fight and then engaged Lokan. what Lokan then did was, he step to the side while Lucius was charging him raised his hand an Bitchlabed him. this all happened in one motion one quick move. Lokan in the seconds the fight lasted anylised Lucios and when Lucious charged without thinking Lokan saw that weakness steeped asided and Bitchslapt Lucious using hiw own Momentum against Him Afterwords Lokan said "this is how Luna Wolves Fight"
They analyise their enemy for weakpoints and constantly harass them not giving them time to breath. they priorities the enemy leaders so sow chaos in the ranks for that very reason.
They also were influenced by the cathonian gang like culture which you could see in some of the Hairstiles they used example Abaddon.
their Primarchs ability was Charisma or in the words of the famous Garviel Lokan "his Words sound like Honey" while Space Marines do inherite some of their Primachrs traits I do not know if Horuses Geneseed make his Space marines more Charismatic
Lastly Their Geneseed makes a portion of their Legion look Like Horus tho I do not know how Large that portion is these Legioneris were Ironicle called Sons of Horus which made more sense when they were still Luna Wolves
"Hey man, Horus, dude, we're just asking questions. Really think about it, what DO you know about your father, the Emperor?"
9:37 - an upbeat intermission
13:25 Rylanor, dantioch, constantine valdor.
I mean he could barely beat Lucius but without a shadow of a doubt Loken is my favourite character closely followed by Torgaddon and Kharn
always make me happy when you drop a video.
something about your voice is just so relaxing for some reason.
keep up the goo work m8 :D
Imho after reading the Horus Heresy it seems like most of what happened was on traitor Primarchs/their seconds/Erebus and now they blame the loyalists despite being directly responsible for the shitty state Imperium is in and also perpetuating the war with Imperium hence damning and destroying humanity further.
This is informative but so damn funny. Think I will have to watch the rest.
Jesus that burning cat is a hell of an opening lol
"Horus has no chance coming back."
The novels are not so clear about that. Let's wait and see.
there is a warband called The Sons of the Lupercal that use the old legion sea green armor.
I'm glad I chose these guys as my loyalist homebrew
“YOU DARE RETURN TO ME IN FAILURE!?!?!”
Good intro 10/10
You won't see an Sons of Horus or Luna Wolf warband in 40K because Abaddon hunted them all down
I can see the advantages of the 16th and the signs of what they will become.
Loken is hands down the best character of the horus heresy! And the main reason I like the Luna Wolves
#HENRYCAVILLASGARVIELLOKEN
Garvi and Garro are my absolute favorites!!
As a SoH player in HH loved the vid
That whole intro was oddly specific. 😅
