So in this video, I try to explain why I don't play Hive.

I think one of the reason Nether Games is the option for me is I started watching hypixel bedwars and I wanted that experience and those game modes which I love to play on so Nether Games is the sever I chose. :)

Very cool video. I can definitely agree the knockback is extremely ping based compared to other servers because no one takes horizontal knockback. Hives knockback Is really weird, but basically it favours vertical knockback until the third hit of every trade. On the third hit, you will finally take some horizontal knockback… it’s really weird to explain and even weirder to play. My biggest frustration with Hives knockback is the god awful snowballs. I literally fume everytime I see someone use snowballs. In minecraft, snowballs are supposed to slow down players coming at you, not deal knockback as if it was the third hit of the trade. It’s unfortunately far too common that players who know how to use snowballs get praised as good over people who actually know how to pvp.

Okay, as a hive skywars main u can agree snowballs are kinda broken but the kb is fine imo. It’s definitely better than a server like cube craft that is a mix between Java and bedrock and at least it actually takes skill to pvp.

When I was younger on controller I grinded hive because you can't truly take in the pvp aspect. So once I moved to PC and got better I just quit hive. I truly understand your perspective here. Keep up the great work!

I can pretty much consistently get 7 kill games on the hive but when i try sumo i get tossed i have no idea why im so bad at sumo
I definitely don't see a reason why someone should never try out hive, sure the pvp system is not for everyone but some people like me do enjoy it, sw and tw are pretty fun games but yea in the end I would prefer nethergames over hive, it has its downs but the games and the pvp system are better in my opinion

@@Chr7st Thank you for your opinion. Sometimes players go inside of me but when we trade hits I get lot of knockback than the opponent. (Maybe due to my ping though I get around 143 - 232 usually) Anyways Thank You

As a hive main, I would disagree with your pvp comments but because of your videos, I would say I might be biased but so are anyone who has a server as a main. You have stated both the pros and cons and gave really great comments.
Although I just said it may be biased, I would say the “out gear” and “ping based” thing is not true. Maybe the armour is more unbalanced but I play in Australia and win most trades.
Overall, great video! Enjoyed it very much

I personally don't like Hive bc they don't allow complex tactical game play such as not allowing critical hits which is a crucial part of Minecraft pvp it just doesn't feel lile vanilla pvp and also most of it's playerbase are pc players not balance you can't even imagine my loststreak there using a phone

That's a really pointless reason and your evidence doesn't help, Cubecraft has more PvP games than it has non PvP, but it's the same amount as hive, 3 games. And another thing, your PvP reason was poorly explained, I didn't understand your view point at all by the end of it. If you read all this, keep in mind, I love chr7st's videos, love em' man. But debate isn't your strong suit my friend. Let me explain the structure of the video,
at first I explain what I do like about Hive, and why I respect the server and it's core features. Then I dicuss why it doesn't draw me in personally. I talk about the differences in KB and why it doesn't offer very dynamic gameplay. I think I didn't differentiate those 2 talking points very well, or I didn't explain what exactly i'm arguing.
To clarify; I wan't to explain why I don't enjoy playing hive over nethergames, this was not a comparison between cubecraft and hive. Can you explain what exactly you understood from that section?

That has nothing to do with what the video is about, If you have an issue with that statement let me reiterate, Hive attracts the 2 main categories of server players, competitive and non competitive, the players that want to beat somebody else badly and the people that just want to have a fun time. USUALLY having pvp gamemodes means that a lot of competitive players will play against each other, creating a semi-hostile environment for a short period, which can cause rage quitting, faul language, etc. Now some players don't want that, some players just want a low-stakes game or a group-effort game, a minigame that doesn't require somebody beating somebody specific. Examples being Hive's hide and seek or murder mystery. Having a lot of options for both parties can be extremely beneficial for the server and it's longevity. I don't know if you missed me mentioning that balancing those two communities is a good thing and makes a server structurally superior. I may be wrong in my assesment but I have played on Cubecraft for over a year back before I played NetherGames and I know that was the reason it was not as popular as Hive, times have changed but it still is an issue, a lot of competetive players are switching to other servers like cubecraft, which made it more popular for a while. Now obviously Hive has released more party games and funny enough it's even with cubecraft again, (yes I consider Ground wars and block drop or whatever its called a party game). You are right there *were* just as many non competitive gamemodes on hive as on cubecraft, (that obviously has changed), the issue is that there is so many competitive gamemodes that it drains all the players from the uncompetitive ones.
I hope that clears up your current misunderstandings and I hope you can clear up how you got to your previous conclusion and what exactly didn't click, once you know that tell me and if it's valid I will try my best and improve my next videos.

Me too... The PvP like the knockback is personally bad for me and there is literally no bedwars.... But I am NGL I do play hive sometimes when I just get too fustrated when I play competitive servers like nethergames, so sometimes to just get my mood up I play a little hive and other servers.
Tbh i find the same thing that the pvp and kb is weird and just play to warm up or if im bored of ng.

@@Chr7st my ocd LOL. In its own way to correct you. Also what i find with hive the only way to get someone to take kb to combo them is with a snowball or projectile. For example when i dont have a snowball or projectile i get beaten by people in full iron where as im in full diamond. Hive is definitely a more skill based server using certain techniques to get good combos BUT ng has a more competitive feeling as there are as you stated the sweats, the better and worse players than you. Hive brings in more of a balanced pvp system which allows mobile players to win fights against pc or console players.

NG's AC is a direct copy of MockingBird lmao, I still have Hive & NG configs; the experience of making Hive configs on Packet V2 Is hard; but on NG I just have to use jump fly and HiveSafe speed mode. Maybe u should switch to Hive cuz better AC = Less hackers, tho I still will make configs for Hive & NG (NG's special check is velocity; Hive doesn't Have Velo/AntiKB checks, but it has Better FLY and SPEED checks (HiveSafe works on NG and Hive u just need to have 22 or 25 timer for it to work on NG and Hive) )

I am mobile player of hive I compo the players with full diamond or round him and hit or I will run to a bridge and i kill him to the void. I think hive is the best. Nethergames is good but some times bridge will disappear and i will to the void. So i dont play nethergames. Ok that's my opinion.

see this is why i don't fight with a sword most of the time due to the system because not only i have high ping on other regions but also i'm a mobile player
all i did in ctf is just screw everything (with planning and knowing the risks), hoard tnt and rush to the flag like hell, following the namesake objective.
i still can't believe that some players complain on map design where they should've just adapt to it and make plans than just using their brawns than brains
I just don't like Hive little bit because of the same reason and also people scam most of the time and when i takes diamond armour from ender chest at the mid they chase me and starts killing me while i only bridged and someone seen me when I was with chain armour and someone else was with diamond armour still the guy which seen me only target me only even I have chain armour, and they always use snowballs to get combo the worst strategy, and I prefer 1.14 Hive, and also i don't like NetherGames little bit too because sometimes the server slows down and I can't hit someone others also can't idk when will this fix can't

As a mobile player, i can relate to the fact where it is hard to get good at the start, but i have been playing for over a year now, and i enjoy nethergames because of its relatively small community and its gamemodes like bedwars, i enjoy bedwars more than for example hive treasure wars because you start with armor and a weapon, wich makes it more fun to pvp. Also, i just like bedwars more because it kinda has that hypixel feel to it wich gives me good vibes. Also, i think hive is the mere definition of a stereotipical bedrock edition server, with its custom npc's, gui's etc etc whereas nethergames... it just feels more... idk, minecrafty... like a bit more raw without all those custom stuff. Thats my opinion

Im a hive player. For my experience, hive is pretty boring because of the fact that most players are pretty bad. Treasure wars isnt that fun unless u w solo-squads and q grinding parties and do 1v4s. Solo is pretty boring too because everyone just side rushes, and usually at the end of every game, its just me and this sweaty guy left and Ill just go mid buy snowballs and kill him. Its quite repetitive imo. the part where you said hives kb ping based, ping is how fast ur connection is sending packets to a server. Hence, if a player hits someone and it takes 10ms to travel to the server and respond while another play takes 170ms, its quite obvious the 10ms player wins. This is in most cases for all servers, I dont see how this is only for hive? Hives kb is also quite skill based imo, it requires alot of jump resetting to negate the kb (unless ur ping carried). Back to the part about hive being boring, scrims are a solution to this, its pretty fun. Ctf scrims and twars scrims exist and its much more intense. Servers like scrimbase are also pretty active 24/7 so you can basically main scrims. In a nutshell, Ill summarise what I said :)
1. Imo, all servers have "ping based kb", it doesnt strictly apply to hive. You can easily use skill to beat low pingers (shrine vs monyet) 200ms vs 50ms players.
2. Hive is pretty boring after awhile because of its repetitive nature, but what kind of server doesnt have a repetitive nature is my question back to you?
Edit: at 3:20, I dont see how this applies to why you wouldnt play hive? This is just describing what youre doing and how youre playing a game, it applies to any and every game. Even zeqa, hive, cc, tc. Such situations are not server exclusive because its a players play style. Dont see the point of including this few minute segment?
Edit 3: I get what u mean by ping and how it affects reducing on hive, however, with skill and pvp style, you can definitely defeat the opponent. Again back to my example (na clan vs as clan) 200-300ms players vs 1-100ms players.
If its mainly ping affecting your experience, why not just say you get high ping/latency which causes the server to be unplayable and not a enjoyable experience? Why make a lengthy video restating points and including a how to play brige fight tutorial in the middle, that I dont understand.
I would disagree that a minigame can become too repetitive, if you choose to play very repetitve then that's not the games fault, I have played enough to know it's the approach to a game that can make it repetitive and boring, obviously updating it and changing it's meta has a factor in how enjoyable it can stay long term, but I believe that a unaltered gamemode can be fun for basically forever if you can vary it enough. Allthough I will say that a lack of new players can make the game very stale because if every opponent uses the same strategy then you need to have the same counter for it, new players will try different things until they find the correct strategy which can affect the meta if there's enough of them.
1. No, on NG the best ping by far is 120, it has better hit reg then somebody with 200 but is laggy enough to make somebody fall quicker and thus give them quicker velocity which allows for a quicker hit. Can you send me the links to any recordings of the matches you mentioned? As it would be interesting to study. Going back to what I said NG gives every ping range benefits and drawbacks, there's low ping players that lose to high ping players and vice versa, there is not a "dominant" ping for a lack of a better word. I may be mistaken on that and if I am then I will take that as criticism to my research and I'll try and improve that for the next video.
2. What I said at the start should apply here.
3:20 you have to play a lot of servers to pick up on nuances like the one I brought up, I don't think this is the strongest point but it is valid. No I am not just describing what I am doing and how im playing the game, I am explaining the difference in stakes. As I mentioned if that fight where to happen on hive I would be playing completely differently, I would be less conservative about my approach and I would be more eager to just jump in. If I play against some of my friends on NetherGames one person always comboes the other (exceptions exist obviously), the important thing is the approach to the fight and the positioning rather than the fight itself, if somebody has a better strategy to combo the other than he will get that combo and win, you need to make sure you don't get comboed before you actually fight, because the first & second is so important, while on hive it matters more about not getting comboed during the fight.That is the distinction for me, maybe I should have made that more clear in the video.
3. My ping shouuld not affect the gameplay this much, I would say I have been very succesful with my ping on Hyperlands and NetherGames scrims. Quite the opposite is true on Hive allthough I have admittedly not put as much effort into it as I could have. Point being yes there are servers that can make every ping playable, probably the best example is Hyperlands as every ping range works for pvp. Again please do send any videos breaking down what somebody with higher ping does to supposedly have the same chances of winning a fight as a low ping player.
I don't have thousands of treasure wars wins so i'm ready to be wrong on the majority of what I've said, however I do stand firm with my second point, I think that the KB in a pvp system can make a big impact on how the game is played, that has to be my main reason for not enjoying Hive, it's just slow and unengaging for me.
