Thanks Eric for taking the time to put together another piece of content for us to figure out wether we want a new piece of smart home gear, or a gallon of gas.
Hi Eric, Thank you for producing this content. From what I’ve seen over the past few weeks of researching smart home devices, especially in context of Apple ecosystem / HomeKit integration, I would say you are the best at reviewing and reporting on this stuff. Keep up the good work. I hope the channel explodes in popularity for you. I have given permission for the UA-cam app to send me notifications again, pretty much solely based on becoming a new subscriber of your channel. If you knew how I feel about notifications, you’d know that is a big achievement! All the best. Cheers, Matthew
I use the Sensi thermostat. I paid about 35 dollars for it from my gas supplier. It works with HomeKit. It looks and works like a convention thermostat.
I work from home and sometimes struggle to get into my flow state. You mentioned using a single loop playlist in one of your videos. I can't find it now. Can you please give me the link to that? I know it's not tech type of topic, but have you considered making a video about how you get into flow state and how it effects your focus?
Thanks Eric. I think it's totally fine and expected that your mind changes on things such as Abode. I wish that apple would just make their own DIY security system that would work well. I personally don't want to use anything owned by Amazon or google so unfortunately that means Ring (which seems to be the most reliable) isn't an option for me.
Thanks for understanding. I'm sorry for you that there aren't more choices. I agree with the comment from Robert below that there are some other DIY options like those from Aqara without professional monitoring.
No I currently use the Logitech Circle View doorbell but I don’t recommend it since it has overheating issues. If I was buying new today I would consider a Ring doorbell given the integration with my existing system.
HomeKit lets users alpha/beta test for Apple. I would like to plug/play things and have the apps speak to eachother through Home. I don't want to have to tinker.

Lol yes! Both are getting more expensive by the day

Eric, iRobot has a “child/pet lockout” mode for their robots. Your dreams come true! 😆
Nice!! Thanks for letting me know
My Roborock S7 has the same setting
Yeah this is a very recent update from what I understand

Hopefully Matter will open things up a bit.
Appreciate the answers!
These companies should let users demo their apps with dummy cameras/devices before buying.

Eric do you use the ring doorbell since you have the alarm system

Did your problems with Abode start when you switched to your UDM? I had a lot issues with mine so I switched to Eero
No it was across multiple wireless networks before I got Unifi
