  • Another incredible national final selection from Serbia. They really are showing other countries how to do this. Unbelievably, anything from my top seven (in a 32 song selection) would be workable at a Eurovision level. All of these songs I tentatively have graded at an 8.0/10.0 or above (which would currently get you in the top three of my Eurovision ranking).
Of course, Serbia did make it more difficult by eliminating so many of these great songs and putting much weaker ones in their actual final. Oh well, just because you put forward an amazing selection, doesn't mean you can trust people to pick the right songs.
Having said that, there's clearly one song that's the right choice and the one to get Serbia that top ten result at Eurovision. Generally, Serbia do pick the right song in their national final (eventually) so I'm confident that they'll get this one right, too.
Loved this selection. Happy to see who wins and to put a load of the others into my top eliminated songs list.
    Good luck, Serbia!

Awwwwwh, and here I thought you were going to put Egret 1st and Iza Duge 2nd ! Still not too many disagreements.
But again, I don't really think Presidente was performed that well, the chorus is quite demanding and he seemed a tad tired. I still liked the song tho, but I understand how this didn't qualify.
The big difference there is that Frajle is a guilty pleasure for me ! The cohesion between the three is amazing and the traditional vibes make it sound lovely, even if not suited for Eurovision. Same negative feedback for Starac Dana, so placed it lower on my top

I saw your comment elsewhere that you were a big fan of those two songs and was excited for you to check out my ranking!
      Both unappreciated gems!
Obviously, going to have some disagreements in a top 32 but glad to see that we have some common likes. :3

A nice national final it was. It seems like RTS have finally found the direction they want to follow and continue to improve every year - the production was one of the best this year.
My last year's favourite also took part this year, but... ahem, I couldn't expect that Bane Lalić (yes, it was him) would let me down so badly.
Stefan couldn't have chosen a better nickname. The song has a nice vibe but his performance is literally so shy that it becomes very forgettable.
I kinda disagree about Frajle. It stood out as I can't remember anything as authentic as their music in any national selections in recent years - and that they haven't done anything with it making it more Eurovision-ready and suitable is what made their song really valuable for me.
Nađa (the one with the guitar and treadmill) had one of the best songs of this kind in my opinion. It was sweet and convincing and she gave a performance full of heart.
Zejna's song is my biggest guilty pleasure this year, it's kinda old-fashioned but really energetic and bold.
We agree on the winner though, I was also rooting for Luke as he was the one who had the full package with the song and the performance full of attitude and interesting ideas.

I didn't love Bane's entry last year but at least I understood it. This year, I didn't get it.
Stefan was probably the weak part of his entry but I think some people found his performance charming...and they're the ones who'd vote for the song anyway, so I guess it worked for the target audience.
Some people really go for stuff like Frajle and, when it works for me, I can, too. This one didn't but I wouldn't give anyone a hard time for liking it.
Nađa's result was a bit unexpected but she was one of those who definitely deserved to be in the final at least. It wouldn't have been a great choice for Eurovision but I still think it would've qual'd.
I don't think you need to feel guilty about Zejna's song at all. It would've worked really well on the Eurovision stage.
And at the end of it, Luke clearly the best choice!

od jastuka do jastuka just has such an unexplicably charming vibe, at first I didn't care about it but now I can't stop listening to it
serbia has a great selection and I'd be fine with most of the frontrunners to win

That's an interesting take! I haven't heard anyone who really is attached to the song so, with it being in the final and all, it's good to hear that it really works for some.
As I said, I really like the staging of it. :3
And yeah, Serbia firing on all cylinders here.

Our differences, while still present, aren't as big as I thought they might be. I know that you are on board with the Balkan turbofolk music more than I am on average, so I imagine that most of your ratings are higher. Still, I am impressed by how even with 32 songs, PZE outshined Dora. Even an average is higher. We have the same winner, and I do consider it to be among my top favorites this whole NF season. I also really like Boris' song. Needed to grow on me, but once it did, the hook ''nedostupan'' echoes in my head a lot. Filip is also so cool! Savo and Angellina were shamelessly robbed, and I'm saying that as someone who didn't like Origami that much last year. Lanac is such an improvement, and her vocals were very stable. You have Zejna and Hurricane higher than I do, but I still don't dislike their songs. I'm just kinda mixed on them. Overall, I find it to be a solid selection, considering the amount of entries. With very high production values too!

Why is it that YT always chooses my replies to you not to save? They're the longest ones!
Your top five is exactly what I predicted, outside of Savo Perović. I didn't know where you'd go with that one and fully expected Eegor or Egret to take up that final spot. Nice to know you can still surprise!
I also knew you'd have Zejna and Hurricane right next to each other but, thought it would be in the 10-12 range more than how low you had them.
The results that were released after the show were just bizarre. Serbia was so close to a disaster here and got so lucky that they ended up with the right winner in the end.
My average rating was a 5.69, but I fully expected it to be at least half a point higher than you'd rate the selection. My highest rating was a 9.0 (for now) and my lowest was a 3.0.

@@kaleproject3495 Savo's entry just has an additional complexity, both musically and lyrically, to other club bangers in this selection. Should have qualified. Zejna and Hurricane are still my 14th and 15th, so not that bad. It's just that some songs, like Osmeh and Od jastuka do jastuka, grew on me in live. Zejna was once in my top 10. I love her as an artist, and I am looking forward to her future endavors.
My average is now 5.29, which is only 0.40 apart from you. And if I could be more okay with the pack in the back, the averages would be even closer. But these few are just not for me whatsoever (even if not a single song deserves a 1 or a 0 for every one being well-produced and looking professional). Tijana really makes ''loše procene'' when it comes to her ESC songs.
I actually think that Serbia has found their footing in PZE when they switched from Beovizija in a similar way that Lithuania has found their footing when they changed the Eurovizijos atranka format to PIN. It looks and sounds better on average. So, despite of my initial skepticism, I am now on board.

I think when you look at the actual results, Luke Black clearly saved Serbia from what would've been a possible NQ if they'd gone with any of the other top three. Worrying!

  • @blyatuber
    @blyatuber Рік тому +3

    Coming from a Serb:
Luke is indeed a good pick, buy people here tend to be pretty close minded to new genres of music, people here want the standard, overused and abused Balkan style pop songs that I honestly got so sick and tired about, hence why I fear that Zejna or Princ will actually snatch it. My three favourites from the final are Luke, Filip and Boris. From those who got eliminated: justice for Eegor, Egret and Savo.
Hope my country won't fuck up tonight...

    • @kaleproject3495
      @kaleproject3495  Рік тому

I would normally be a bit more worried but Serbia have generally picked the right winners since the national final came back as the selection method...so I can't really see something as mid as Princ's song winning it but Zejna is a different matter.
Even though I like Boris, I don't think he should be under consideration for the win here. His song was better last year. Luke and Filip would be the two in the final I'd give serious consideration to...and, hopefully, Serbia remember what In Corpore Sano did for them and go with the braver choice again this year!

That would definitely be a good choice, too!
But, I don't think any of the other options are on that potential top ten level that Luke is.
I would like the performance/vocal tidied up a bit though!
