  • In this video, I breakdown some offensive schemes Truck Stop uses as the engine of their clinical offense. These strategies led them to winning the TCT Pro Championships for the Open Division in early September. Now as the favorites heading into nationals, can Truck Stop maintain their hot streak and take the title?

Thanks for sharing your notes, Jack! I don't think it's a stretch to assume you've analyzed more teams than just TS in prep for nationals - appreciate you publishing your thoughts here :) Best of luck at Nats!

Great video! Would be great to see a video on footwork and moves you can use to get free in isolation on offense, and staying tight while playing match defense :)

Very well said! I have to agree with you, when an entire team can make tight window throws like that it is very hard to stop

0:33, Poaches from FOS are less effective against Truck because the excel at inside breaks
2:02, When you go upline as the sole reset, there needs to be a fill option from the stack
    5:14, Zipper pull play

It stands for "Triple Crown Tour" It's the three biggest tournaments, and they're spaced out through the year. US Open in early August (honestly for about half the teams, it is almost a preseason tourney). Pro Championships is in September, and is the top 12 teams from the previous year. And then Nationals, which is this weekend. Natties is the one that matters at the end of the day, but the TCT sweep would be pretty cool.

Cool video, offense reminds me a lot of the dribble drive offense that Duke likes to run in bball

From that deep stack, do the first 2 defenders ever try to split the under cuts? That could help clog the lane for what you called the j-cut, and each defender could be a little more aggressive defending the lane on their side of the stack. To combat the zipper, set up in the old clam D: front 2 defenders split, 2nd to last covers open side in cuts, last defender is deep-deep.
Possibly wouldn't help much because it looks like that offense has no qualms about two players cutting to the same lane, thrower just hits the guy less covered.
Another thought: the deep stack is so tightly bunched, seems a defender could try to set up so any real cut would have to be through a pick. Has that been an issue?

I miss watching you and empire play at home games. I love getting the noti for a video tho. If it’s possible could you make more intermediate level tips? or even player specific tips?

Will zone make a come back to pressure small ball and deep looks? A cup zone (or even wall/clam) effectively sprinkled between person and junk to force offenses to change the offense's throw speed/shape and tempo/flow a bit more drastically. Maybe not the Florida United four-person cup (though I'd be curious to see how they would do against today's Truck).

Love the thumbnail for this video lol. Do you think you could make a video breaking down some zone defense/offense looks? It seems like teams rarely run zone looks and was curious why, from the perspective of a mid level player it seems like zone would be effective at stopping isolation plays for dominant players and a way to force the disk to stay in motion to keep them from always having the disk in their hands.

I might do a breakdown of zones in the future. From what I’ve noticed, zones tend to play into the hands of teams that are comfortable with this small ball, minimal risk play style

Any chance you could comment on your observations regarding the utilization of zone-D in AUDL? In general, with the ability to double team and the elite level of play, it seems like old school "cups" are out. Any thoughts on the validity of this? Any comments for what kind of lessons this might translate to for a DIII college coach/team?

Well, by now we all know the answer. It wasn’t JB, the Truck Stop Offense stopped themselves. They made more mistakes in one game than they did in the rest of their games at Nationals together.

has anyone attempted more of a backhand force to stop those easier around breaks up the sideline? it might make the inside lane bigger tho.

I don't know about if they have at the high level, but at the middle level, when I see it happen, offenses usually just cram it up the cramhole with a fair amount of success. Would be interesting to see what it would look like at the top for sure

    • @LeMagnifique87
      @LeMagnifique87 Рік тому +1

The biggest issue with backhand force at the higher level, is that the forehand breaks can come so quickly, the break side is almost more attackable from the handler's perspective
