I don't know what pinch the neck off means and I'm planning on growing a lot of onions this year .Are these spring onions or do they grow into full sized onions
these are long day bulb/storage onions that will grow into full sized onions... "pinch the neck off" means the plant will fall over and make a crease at the base and once that happens the onion won't grow into a nice big bulb anymore just a tiny little shallot
Hi, i just starting to grow onion chives about 2 weeks ago. I got several plants. The shipping company left my package in warehouse for nearly a week before sending to me. The leaves were rotted but the roots survive. I had to chop off the leaves until less that an inch from the neck. They are in well drain pot, i water when the soil dry. Today, i found most of them have the leaves, only 2 inch in length snapped off at the neck. Do you ever have this kind of problem? The root so far still fine, not rotting or shrivelled. What made them just broke off and will the root grow new leaves? I'm not in 4 season country and right now we are in draught season with abnormally hot and intense sunlight
👍👍👍👍👍 I would never let those yummy trimmings go to waste.
These are great shorts! I love the longer videos and lives but these are so helpful for a recap on what to do.
Dude!! Your channel has BLOWN up!!! How cool! :)
Thanks Nate for the timely shorts like this!
Just learnt another really good tip Nate. Just by giving a hair cut to the onions.
Great! Thanks friend. 💚💚💚💚🇿🇦
Talk about timely, my onions are getting over 6” now - great advice. Thanks and keep up the good work.
I've never grown a thing until this year and onions were first. Love this tip!
good info Nate!
Well explained. I was always confused about this part of growing onions and leeks.
Excellent video! I will do this to our onions if they grow. Also, it’s nice that you mentioned about not wasting the parts you trimmed. Be well.
"IF" they grow??!!!... they'll grow for you this year brother!
Thank you for this video and your voice is soothing 🌱😌🙌🏾🌻

Where do you recommend getting those nice seedling containers those onions are in and the black drip trays they're on top of?

Thank you! What is this room you have is it a tent ? Any info greatly appreciated.
Is that tent only for edible plants ?
yes, these days I only use these tents for seed starting and microgreens
Yessssss
Ah, the famous Viking Mylar Grow Tent and LEDs.
the Vikings utilized all of the latest technology they had available in their day to reach their goals... and that is what we also do here...
Can you do this with asparagus, too?
I'm back. Still have the same question.
Dehydrate the trimmings
If I was the one who planted, I will harvest
im in zone 6 when should i start growing onions from seed in pots?
right now!
an you start onion in a jiffy puck ? or do they need a bed like container?
either will work... its much simpler and I can start lots more by doing it in the tray method
I understand who wastes good onions
Trim
😮😅 trim them 👍🏿
