I love how when Cecil teleported into Nolans home, he teleported inside on purpose when it was dark to prove that he wouldn't have gotten ambushed in the dark with the guardians
@@vlonecorvus980They do shit like this throughout the series. A lot of attention to detail and great use of the typical superhero/supervillain tropes both in seriousness and parody.
Cecil is such a strange character. And he's my favorite iteration of the "Hardass government man" archetype many superhero universes have. Its not just about the mission, its not just about keeping people or the world safe. He wants the people working for him to be in the best headspace they can be to face the horrors their world can cause. Sometimes that means being a hard headed jerk, and sometimes that means respecting boundaries and giving space. He sees the world only for what it is because his job is making sure it stays how it is. Changing the world for the better is the responsibility of someone else, the people inspired by the heroes who work for and with him
@comedygold8055 I wouldn't call him lovable but I would call him a good person at his core. He wouldn't want to be called lovable. It has too much baggage attached
Being able to push fear aside is just a prequisite to be in his position, but to keep planet spinning in Invincible universe, takes more than that and that is what makes him what he is, even if someone else would be able to do better, but thats for another persons story.
You know, when I first started this show I thought Cecil was just gonna be a knock-off of Nick Fury. But his characterization sets him apart by far. A perfect vessel for the tone of this show. A morally grey mortal man doing his best to protect the world against titans leagues stronger than him by keeping things gray.
A solid leader through and through. Throws whatever he can to deter a threat, always keeps the big picture in mind, but knows that position comes with the hard truth that you need to keep secrets and play dirty. Yet he never lost sight of the honor that comes with putting your life on the line to serve your country. Thats why he rebuilt Rick, constantly rebuilt Donald, and put his life in the hands of his own men (operating the teleporter) to directly confront Nolan.
I love Cecil. Dude has a whole squads of superheroes, zombie cyborgs, and multibillion dollar superweapons at his beck and call, but when push comes to shove he is not afraid to teleport right into action and shoot a blaster at a godlike alien. This proves that unlike many other grey characters in similar position, he doesn't pick the grey path because its easier than white one - he simply does what NEEDS to be done.
Correction, hes just protecting the USA, every other Nation will burn to ashes while the us will be protected by a super effective shield, perfectly aligning with its political borders.
Misleading title. Cecil is terrified of Omniman. Cecil is terrified of pretty much every threat to the Earth. He doesn't cower in the face of fear though. He is a man. He buries his fear and does that needs to be done, even if it is unkind, even if it's dirty, even if it borders on evil. But that doesn't stop him from being afraid. It makes him one of the bravest people alive.
@Raximus3000 That too, but more just her belief that all these uncontrollable God amongst Men would doom humanity and needed some kind of government control to ensure human society wouldn't be destroyed by them.
To be fair dc is kind of story where heroes never grow past superheroing as thats not the point of narrative and therefore waller is always the villain on side of heroes, to screw up and have hero save the day enforcing moral standard of the story. To he fair Invincible is kind of story that puts way more thought to superhero and villain question and even reaches dificult anwsers unlike dc or marvel and is therefore kind of show where cecil/nick type of character can shine, if marvel or dc, whichever had nick would do a reboot similar to Invincible and its thoughts on superheroing, nick fury would have his Spotlight, but as neither is a deconstruction of superhero genre, it wont happen and if it does itll be because of desperation.
I think Cecil knew that Nolan will not go all in on him. Even with his teleportation tricks and Nolan holding back against old friend , he gambled with his life here - and he didn't even flinch!
Haven't read the comics, but logically, nothing. The GDA would dose every water source worldwide they could find. You'd need a 100% private, unknown spring to avoid the chemical... assuming it's even in the water. Odds are it's in the air from water vapour if in the water. Again, assuming it *is* in the water, why would Cecil tell the truth about that, easier to go with a believable lie.
Depends, if its dc or marvel story, that are supposed to be about specticle of superheroes and villains duking it out, than guy like cecil wouldent even work, or be wasted, but Invincible is kinda story that starts out the way dc and marvel leave it, but grows to think deeper on cecils perspective and the whole superhero question and is allowed to reach conclusions that would be tetramental to dc and marvel stories and therefore story almost needs a cecil stedman.
Cecil is going to be a villain in the future and his methods and antics are going to the cause of it. He will take things too far and either become the enemy (along with the GDA) or turn Mark to the dark-side.
