- Southwest of Coyhaique, Chile is a region called "Seis Lagunas" (Six Lagunas). There are more than that but the region is home to incredible fly fishing for some large or plentiful trout populations. :) In this video we join a couple of the guides from Magic Waters Patagonia Lodge to hop about from lake to lake in hopes of catching a trout in as many of the lakes in one day as possible. This video shares 2 days though, as we have to travel a little further to the last lake. There are wonderful opportunities to fly fish so many lakes in Chile and this region offers incredible dragonfly and damsel fly fishing in December - January.

I think a lot of fly fisher enthusiasts underestimate how visual streamer fishing can be. I really enjoy streamer fishing in all bodies of water. As you continue to train your eye it becomes even better. Well done you guys! Love the enthusiasm.
Those Patagonia lakes are just prime for exactly that - the tannic water + golden flashy browns are an amazing combination! :)

I would love to see some videos where you guys are fishing in Chile without a guide
You have no idea how much we wanted the same. The reality of doing this was a trade-off coming out of the pandemic and getting away for a winter. There were a ton of things we'd do differently, a lot of situations we'd have loved to taken more time to do and be present for and apply ourselves to. It remains a really odd thing watching these videos knowing how we fished & filmed trying to represent a lodge style trip on a working backwards from 6pm day vs who and what we really are... which of course impacts what, where & how we do things moving forward. We massively prefer our time and doing things our way. But that's us and we'd not have had the opportunity to be there at that time without Magic Waters hosting us, for which we are obviously grateful. It was really an exploratory trip on the realities of a lodge trip vs how we fly fish at home and how we've done New Zealand all these years on our own. Lodge style trips are great for those who love that kind of service and packaging.

Unfortunately not this year! Hopefully in the years to come we can visit and enjoy some fly fishing on our own and really dig in to fishing and filming it our way in our timing and really represent it well! :)
