Wham working as a cabinet builder, I needed to cut a round, 42”, decorative post, so it would fit on the outside corner of the kitchen island. Boss said here, do it. They had no idea how. I measured the largest diameter of the post, cut a piece of plywood square to that dimension, found the center of both ply and post and connected them at both ends. Now the post doesn’t roll. But the post was too long to fit the table saw fence. Took some 8’ cut-offs of plywood and built a saddle fence that slipped over the saw fence. Worked perfectly. Saved it for future jobs. Built one for home for my own projects. Boss was impressed.

I use a sled but your technique is much easier. And it makes finding the center easier too, I never thought of that.

While these are interesting, the whole Table Saw bit is dangerous af. Do not use dangerous wood working tools like table saws without proper protective tools! It should be pretty obvious to keep your fingers as far as possible from the saw. Especially a saw that has been raised that high up! They are after all, large metal blades that are rotating at 100s-1000s a second.

Mine are nice and soft, I build staircases.
Wearing gloves as often as possible and moisturizing helps you not have the hard dry cracked hands that no one likes to touch.
I cut on our 10hp tablesaw all day with gloves.
My other coworkers spend a lot of time dealing with plywood slivers. 😂

Drilling a larger hole with the forstner bit? Forget waiting for the glue to dry get another piece of wood, drill that one and use it as a guide. Typical TikTok type techniques.

Time is money. As a carpenter for OVER 30 years, this is the dumbest waste of time, money, and effort I've EVER seen..If you don't have a milled S4S chunk of wood laying around that you could use; you're not a carpenter.

Sometimes the kind of wood you are dealing with is precious, not in the market, like pear tree, apple tree, orange tree or lemon tree, plum or peach or almond. The «waste» would still be used in marquetry or inlay.
