Brother, There should be an article before a singular (countable noun). Your example was (There was traffic jam on the bridge.)
You should have written the sentence as below:
(There was a traffic jam on the bridge.)
Though this seems to be a trivial lapse, it spoils the sentence. Hope you agree with me.
