Hey! I hope you at least get to read this, but you have been such a huge inspiration for me to start my own art channel and embrace my love for creativity! Thank you for sharing how you manage your time, I feel not too many UA-camrs put out this kind of content and it’s needed! You’re a huge help and inspiration!
Running on vibes!!!! Finally someone else says it! I love thinking about organizational systems but my adhd doesn't like to follow them. Running on vibes, with larger goals and priorities, and then space for small admin tasks, is how I kinda do things too. Thanks for sharing ❤
I think that having a medium and long term plan is very important for managing my time as a beginner artist 🎨 Things like: -improving skills -writing and editing videos -socializing in real life These are things that cannot be out of the planning. This tip of yours about doing on the current day what feels good to do, helps you to do this activity faster because you are more motivated. And you still have time left over to start another activity or to relax later. Another great video Kesley thank you so much for sharing it 😍
What other topics surrounding productivity should I cover? Also -- check out Akiflow if you need help with your own productivity and reducing overwhelm! bit.ly/3DmuGoQ
How to turn it off and find balance without guilt? Also how to narrow the possibilities so it isn't so overwhelming when you want to do it all. Thanks!
I appreciate you sharing your behind the scenes, prioritizing & art. Great mix to this video. A little bit for everyone wanting to know art business, art life balance, art history & painting. I don’t think people realize how nice it is to have a “2nd brain” especially as many creatives struggle with focus. You have to “2nd brain” dates, times and little things on some form of calendar, app, or list. Check it off as you go. It takes away the pressure of keeping so much info in your mind. You can free up your mind for more knowledge & a chance to relax with art. Art is subjective and everyone is at different levels in their art journey as well as their business journey. Some people can be masters at gouache paintings but terrible at prioritizing their day. Maybe new to learning about art business. Learning ways to help monetize their careers so they can later create more art for themselves. Get away from the “starving artist” stigmas & be open to learn more about art business. It’s a tricky balance but always keep learning.
You said that your day was not "entertaining" but seriously, as a fellow artist, I feel that starting a new artwork can be the most exciting thing for me. And since I am still perceiving education from school, I find it pretty hard to make time as let's say haf the day is spent in school and then I have to rush everything in the remaining time.
Oh I completely understand the pressure & I have bent to that pressure so so many times in my life. I don't understand how but through time I learnt to enjoy the process more than the finished product and that just naturally slowed me down . I'm sure your work beautiful.
@@RachelBarker-ov2zg yes! The process - especially when you get in the flow - can be an amazing thing. I think my work lends to “the next page syndrome” but that’s also part of the excitement for me. I appreciate when people know that art does take thought and time; while it looks like it pops out of thin air from the outside, there’s a whole person behind it!
I love this! Some of the vids ive watched before abt the same topic involved sooooo muuuuch planning. Not saying it doesnt work, but that's just not the "me" way. I dont want to end up planning more thab actually doing, so thank you for this :>
So I just watched a few of your videos on how to grow my channel and some other stuff and I haven't tried it yet because I just watch it 😅 but I'm really looking forward to doing it as my channel has been struggling alot recently and personally for me I had a great started in the beginning and got to a 1000 subs within 8 months but after that I have not been growing much and it's kinda upsetting as I'm putting alot of effort into it so I genuinely hope you're advices help me as I really wanna do this so I just wanted to say thank you in advance 😊 and I hope you're channel keeps growing and helping other artist like me again thank you ♥️💖
Thank you so much Kelsey for always sharing your opinions and what works for you, so we can feel inspired to find our own ways of dealing with certain situations in our life. Also, when I watch your video, I’ve noticed your beautiful bamboo keyboard tray and your mouse/ pad cursor. I’m not sure how to call it. Could you share where you purchased them, I would appreciate it. Thanks! ❤️
Sometimes a migraine just means you need to take a break and look away from the screen. Self care in this instance is important, even if you must get things done. If you aren't feeling 100 percent it'll show in your work.
absolutely agree! depending on how bad the migraine is I'll fully step away, but sometimes some food, water, ibuprofen, and a cold ice pack are all I need
@@KelseyRodriguez I get really bad migraines if I’m in front of a computer all day (im a digital artist) so I have to get those blue filter lenses to combat it.
@KelseyRodriguez Have you heard of the 20/20/20 rule? When looking at a screen for an extended period of time; every 20 minutes, take a 20 second break and have your eyes focus on something 20 feet away. A simple yet usually effective way to prevent headaches and eye strain. In addition, if you haven't already, activating the blue light filter on your device will help.
Thank you for this! My ND brain struggles big time with planning. Question, what do you use for video editing? And like camera equip? I'm thinking of starting my own channel etc but I don't know where to start with equip. Thank you!!!
8:05 I have a full face ice pack stuff for my migraines and all my neighbors can see me through the window with it. 🤣 it's embarassing but it's better than a too painfull migraine!
"Take care of my cat." Well, if I've seen the cat, I've forgotten. Where's this cat? [Later, cat in arms at the desk] Just like my kitty! On a serious note, I've been gravitating to dedicating one day to a major project at a time as well. Time blocking always fell part. Some things would get pushed aside while other things I would just keep working on. Trying to force different timing makes me less productive. Still working it out though.
Please tell us where to find your super unsexy ice pack sleep mask migraine killer. 😂 Thanks for that breakdown. This video’s sponsor looks to be a great resource I’ll be checking out. 😊
Um, if you aren't a parent, or caring for seniors, or have to work a job where they are always asking you to fill in for others or work random overtime, then you have no idea the challenges facing some artists. That said, you once mentioned health issues and that is a real challenge because you can't scedual heath issues, they are spontaneous, like interruptions from kids.

Super interesting to here about how you manage your time, I have a soft spot for the subject of time management. 😍 Great video as always!
proud of you - you're an inspiration, for real 👍🏽

Thank you for the video! I'm struggling with this right now. Too many things have to be done in a little bit time.
And the older you get the more important a proper time management plan becomes. Thank you for the tips.
Thank you for talking about the “slow” art process! Often find the pressure to hurry and get to the next idea.

I’ve realized I’ve watched too many of your videos by searching “how to full time artist” that I needed to subscribe
That app seems perfect for me, I'll give it a try. Nice video Kelsey.

yeah most artist's days are some form of this, boring to non artist but very familiar in a similar way/form to us artists

The questions at 3:15 were very easy to answer with ADHD lol
Love it!
When talking about the copies, why not put the original up on screen?
I usually do! Just didn’t this time. You can always look up the original if you’re curious.
Thanks for sharing your content with us
Really having a cat n still doing everything else is great
As someone with ADHD and Autism, the planner in the thumbnail already scared me, they never worked for me 😭
I think your ice pack looks cute! Like a small, cute hat...but with a strap. LOL
