Can't overstate how much I loved the fact that the producers were unafraid to just let the scene breathe and take its damn time for nearly three solid minutes with Lana all alone in the dark with Mui. So many other stories in film and gaming treat the audience so cynically that they'll try anything to keep short attention spans from drifting by just rushing to the next scene. Here you're just sitting with her as though you're really there, and not sure what to do next. Absolutely genius storytelling. I don't know how you top this in a sequel, but I want more of it please! ♥
you just wait for the reboot 😛
I played the game for 30 minutes and couldnt bear how brainless and uninteresting it was. Do a simple puzzle made for 5 year olds and then walk for 30 seconds, repeat, thats all there was to it. There was no hook, there was nothing i wanted to find out from the game, no reason to keep playing except the gameplay which i didnt like and the visuals which are breathtaking but not enough to keep me playing. And what makes puzzles even more boring is the fact that movement and animations are so slow that i figure out a puzzle in my head instantly and then have to walk and jump for a minute until i can officially solve it.
The game wasn't meant to be super difficult, but visually it was so great, and I think that learning a bit about the world and fighting the invasion or saving your village was enough to make you as the player push forward. In the end, the audio, visuals and little kitty monkey friend were worth playing for. I'm glad it had a happy ending though I wished it was more clear why the aliens invaded and kept people alive but always tried killing you...and also it might have been implied that the aliens were just humans from a long time ago.
This is one of the greatest games of all time. I've replayed it at least 4 times now and I always cry.
The voice actor of Lana absolutely nailed this sequence. I was terrified for her.
Fun fact: the mothership theme is a mix of Cave mural and Scout bot theme
This is probably my favourite game this year. You've a heart of stone if the ending doesn't move you. I only figured out in the scene where she's cradling Mui in shock after she dies that 'Ima' isn't come here or a command, but simply 'I'm here'. The fact she's saying that whilst Mui is passing away made me really tear up. And the humming......
It can still be "come" but in a "come back" form. In fact i guess thats the sense in this scene. That said, this game is 10/10.
Good point, that works too.
The audio in this and really the entire game was very well done.
The lightball resist fight reminds me of Gandalf vs Necromancer-Sauron in the Hobbit.
I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR ONLY the singing part of lana OMG I cried
Shutdown - Takeshi Furukawa
Music... the universal language
Ok but i feel bad for laughing at lana scream when he falls to the pit
The whole story is basically, "Have you tried turning it off and turning it back on again?" LO FUCKING L!
yes, there is only one human -
