@@JorgeAl my dear , I rather think she is underestimate...as well as Opera artist are nowadays. The lack valuing excellent singer like her underrates opera itself. Right now she is the only one people want to hear in Eupore during this pandemic ..Isn't that amazing to be a singer with a job at this time ? Her voice is full of true emotions.
@@LohengrinO I would also add Latonia Moore to that list. A lyric/spinto voice of that quality hasn't been heard since Aprile Millo.

No doubt one of the best sopranos today. The trills of course are always fantastic. She was even better when she sang it in the Royal Opera House concert earlier this year. The role has definitely grown on her since she debuted it at the Met.
How nice to hear legitimate trills being sung in the 21st century
The trills are the only thing I didn't like about this. To me, it sounded just like fast vibrato.
One of the most wonderful soprano of the moment. I was fortunate enough to be in the audience on opening night at the ROH when she was completely unknown and sang the most wonderful Lucia I have heard in the last few years. The audience went wild and so did the London critics. I went back twice to hear here again. She is definitely in my top 5 sopranos in the world right now.

I was just listening to her ophelia mad scene this morning which happens to have the most beautiful ppp trill! Should she ever issue an album on trills, imma buy it 😂 she's fantastic here, too. Such elegance and grace, tehnically remarkable and artistically satiating. Love her!

Saw her as Gilda in Rigoletto this past December (2022), and she was absolutely wonderful - great singing, and also wonderful dramatic presence on stage.
She is a great singer and a beautiful lady!

This is beautiful! Lisette is one of my favorite lyric coloraturas of today. However, I do think that my favorite version of this is from Renee Fleming. Her recording from the early 00s is just stunning.

Oui vocalement Flemming est supérieure .Cependant elle n'a pas la fraicheur de Manon ,comme cette chanteuse là .Ici nous autres ,français ,avons enfin une Manon qui restitue le vrai caractère du personnage tout en étant très convaincant vocalement .L'autre Manon de référence pour moi étant Cotrubas .Et j'ajoute Sills bien sûr !

J'aime beaucoup cette Manon qui vocalement ,se rattache à la tradition Française dans la manière d'interpréter .En revanche le parti pris du metteur en scène est discutable .Manon n'est pas une courtisane qui ,à coup de déhanchements ou de gestes vulgaires cherche à provoquer les désirs libidineux des hommes .Non ,ce n'est qu'une jeune fille provinciale ,toute ingénue et qui se trouve propulsée à Paris ,où tout l'éblouit ,car en plus d'être belle ,elle attire l'attention sur elle .Elle vit comme dans un rêve, elle séduit ,et elle s'enivre de ce pouvoir .Mais en même temps ,elle garde cette fraicheur Provinciale et c'est ce qui est touchant dans son personnage .Or peux de metteurs en scène comprennent cela .Pour eux Manon est une putain ! Ils ne comprennent Rien !!!
du grand art ! mais il manque encore l'éclat de rire des piqués écrit par le compositeur ?! à la place des trilles en tierces ( forts jolis au demeurant ) que je n'ai pas trouvé sur la partition

The voice is sung through the nose... There is something so alarm-like about the top register... I do appreciate the ornamental technique though, from an objective point of view...
Opera singing is IN the NOSE , only if you are not used to this kind of music , but it's in the NOSE. She does the BEST JOB today.

@@NLidar I LOVE Marina Rebeka especially in Mozart she is the benchmark , but my friend L. Oropesa brings us this bel canto agility that reminds Callas Genius .
@@fideliofidelio1222 If Marina sang with a cleaner line, I'd be much more taken with her than I already am. Some of her Normas do not have the level of refinement needed for me but she has surplus voice and all the equipment, unlike 98% of Normas who have attempted the role in the last 25 years.
@@jmiller05 I really like your assessment ! It will be forever hard to feel the essence of Norma after la Divina...It requires Bel Canto nimble capacity with the gravitas the role character demands . She has a wonderful instrument that one can enjoy in Mozart where the sound just need to follow the music line.

Nobody sings this like Sills did. Sorry for me this isn’t even close.
I saw Sills onstage in this role in 1977. By then, a lot of problems had crept into her voice. But it didn’t matter. She still had lovely tone, easy high notes, perfect French, and a certain charm that I haven’t seen anyone replicate yet. Not even Fleming, despite her perfect voice.

I am hearing the beginning of wear and tear at the very top.
I may be wrong, and even if I usually more or less agree with you on everything I've seen you post, I have to disagree here ; I don't think she nails the D6 at the end of "Je marche", I hear the opposite : I hear it pushed, there is a sort of a crack at the beginning of the note, there is some air in the voice... and if I go perfectionnist, I'd even say that it is a bit screamed...
She nails the entire aria like a pro, really, it's that single note that is bad to me, really, and it's such a shame...
I saw Lisette onstage as Manon at the Met. Vocally, she was very good, although the very top is unsteady. My only quibble with her characterization was that she was perfect as the innocent young girl, but not believable at all as the worldly courtesan. I’m sure she’ll gain experience to present both sides of Manon.

I think we were just spoiled by the creamy, lyrically voiced Manon of Renee Fleming who has set the standard on this role. Fleming's high d's were just so effortless they sounded like they could on forever. Lisette sounds weathered at the top and she isn't even 40! The top D's sound pressed and effortful. This is a a great Zerlina blowing her voice out at 35. Sad!

i like her, she has amazing qualities , but i don't think the voice is completely healthy at top, tremolo is too big and she is young , something to be worried about if she wants to have a long carrier
Her french is horror - and she really screaming for the high note. She said she admires Maria Callas but she is incapable to learn from Maria how to accentuate the vowels, a thing that is very important for french - for example "a" in "sans retour" I think Bidu Sayao is the best Manon, nobody can sing Manon like Bidu, like Maria case for La Traviata, Tosca, Amina, Lucia, Ana Bolena, Evira, and many more, can sing like her. If you listen to the first Louise aria "Depuis le jour..." Maria sang in a concert you can discover that she was perfect in french from the beginning, probably Elvira de Hidalgo - Spanish soprano - had a big role in Maria french correct diction in french - so for that reason, she succeeded in Callas a Paris - nobody can sing Dalia's arias like her and also Euridice.
So dear Lisette you probably will reach the level of Cabale, an other Spanish soprano, that was overrated and infected all the soprano roles with her dull singing and bad diction, BUT never the level of Angeles Gulin - also Spanish - that can stay on the same level as Callas, like Riciarelli, Margherita Roberti, Magda Olivero or Lily Pons, Mado Robin for French opera

@@LohengrinO And a banal take on Oropesa's impeccable french diction. Especially when she has interviews entirely in French, she talks about learning french as a child, has an entire French CD coming out, and is a known francofile. I find this comment hilarious.
