I lived for a short time in Teheran towards the end of the Shah's reign. The people were very hospitable and their food was delicious. May God free them and protect them.

Iam Indian Christian is so Sad to see middle east stuck in worst discrimination when it comes to right to religion practice.. But in India all religions are allowed to practice same as Western world where Islam are practised independent... Iam proud Indian.

Wow! I stumbled upon this video and I couldn’t be happier about it. Amazing interviews, videography and message. Kudos! I learned so much and my heart goes out to my Christian brothers and sisters who, like us (but to a greater degree) are at the mercy of a government whose actions we don’t agree with at all. Especially as military actions are being taken between Iran and Israel the US and other allies will become involved. They will try to make every Iranian out to be our enemy. We need to remember the people’s estimate that close to half of Iranians don’t agree with the government and want no part of what they do. Sounds familiar, Americans? Having understood this, the Iranian society has a minority of Christian, Zoroastrian, and Jews who are living normal lives like other citizens with equal rights, freedom of religious activities and no "persecution!". I have Christian and Jewish friends from whom I haven't heard any complaints about religious or political repression . In fact , a Jewish friend of mine whose sister lives in the US, has been rejecting the invitation from her sister to move to the US permanently, for many years, stating she is fine living in Iran. The religious minorities can participate in political process by voting for their candidates to be representatives for the General Assembly. If you have come across an Iranian with a different religious identity who complains about "persecution", it could be that they were involved in activities deemed to be threatening to the national security and not because of the religion they had. One thing you have to realize, is that in an Islamic theocratic system, missionary assignments by foreign nationals are not welcomed, and conversion from Islam is frowned upon. In the recent funeral procession for the late president, I noticed Rabbis participating, also Iranian priests turning in their votes on election day.

What he said at the 16 minute mark isn’t exactly true. Iran has a large Jewish minority in Tehran. When Khomeni came to power he specifically said they will be allowed to worship as they did before and that it was only Zionist he was opposed to. There are many documentaries on the synagogues in Tehran. They also allow Zoroastrians, an ancient Persian faith, to continue to worship in peace. I’m not informed on the Christian minority there though.

Arabic itself is influenced by persian langauge, The fertile crescent is intertwined region each region influenced the other. islam is a religion not an ethnicity, being Muslim doesn't make you an Arab. the iranian revolution was lead by many sectors it wasn't called the islamic revolution that term came later. in 1979 there was many problems in iran especially corruption and dictatorial rule the shah was surrounded by very bad managers. the west also stopped liking him because he become too powerful less controlled by them, the victory of the socialist revolution in Afghanistan pushed the west to sponsor the religious factions so the soclasit wont take power in iran. Are you a missionary? This was a biased and inaccurate report. Iran is an Islamic theocracy in which there are rules and or laws that have to be followed along with restrictions to be borne. Having understood this, the Iranian society has a minority of Christian, Zoroastrian, and Jews who are living normal lives like other citizens with equal rights, freedom of religious activities and no "persecution!". I have Christian and Jewish friends from whom I haven't heard any complaints about religious or political repression . In fact , a Jewish friend of mine whose sister lives in the US, has been rejecting the invitation from her sister to move to the US permanently, for many years, stating she is fine living in Iran. The religious minorities can participate in political process by voting for their candidates to be representatives for the General Assembly. If you have come across an Iranian with a different religious identity who complains about "persecution", it could be that they were involved in activities deemed to be threatening to the national security and not because of the religion they had. One thing you have to realize, is that in an Islamic theocratic system, missionary assignments by foreign nationals are not welcomed, and conversion from Islam is frowned upon. In the recent funeral procession for the late president, I noticed Rabbis participating, also Iranian priests turning in their votes on election day.

I am Iranian and feel disgusted by all the lies and misinformation just in the first 5 minutes. Iran was one of the most powerful economies in the world at the time and the Pahlavis had done humongous cultural reforms freeing women from hard-core fanatic mullahs. Iran had great relations with the west and in fact poverty would have been eliminated had the shah not been overthrown. The only bad point about the Shah was that along with economic development, political development did not happen. The influence of communism along with dissatisfaction of the religious people about all the westernization had a lot to do with the revolution.

What he said at the 16 minute mark isn’t exactly true. Iran has a large Jewish minority in Tehran. When Khomeni came to power he specifically said they will be allowed to worship as they did before and that it was only Zionist he was opposed to. There are many documentaries on the synagogues in Tehran. They also allow Zoroastrians, an ancient Persian faith, to continue to worship in peace. I’m not informed on the Christian minority there though.
I wouldn't be surprised if they treat Christians differently.

corrections - Israel wasn't in exile the Jewish elites were in exile. ancient Israel was long gone by the Assyrians. iran is multiethnic country not only persians live in iran, including arabs. Shia and sunni divide wasn't theological it was political and then after centuries it became theological, Iran wasn't shia but Sunni, that changed forcefully by the safavids empire in the 16 century. Quranic Arabic is liturgical langauge like latin for Catholics. Even arabs don't speak quranic arabic it need specialists and educated people to learn it and spell it correctly, arabic of prayers is easy and repetitive nothing complicated or not understood. Modern persian is not like ancient or even persians of the sassanids.... Arabic itself is influenced by persian langauge, The fertile crescent is intertwined region each region influenced the other. islam is a religion not an ethnicity, being Muslim doesn't make you an Arab. the iranian revolution was lead by many sectors it wasn't called the islamic revolution that term came later. in 1979 there was many problems in iran especially corruption and dictatorial rule the shah was surrounded by very bad managers. the west also stopped liking him because he become too powerful less controlled by them, the victory of the socialist revolution in Afghanistan pushed the west to sponsor the religious factions so the soclasit wont take power in iran. Foreigners called it Persia. 2) It's well-established that the Book of Esther is a novel with no connection to actual history. 3) At 16:28 you said that in Iran you're a Muslim by birth; this is misleading; you're actually whatever your family is by birth, i.e., if your family is Christian, you're a Christian by birth (this is horrible but I want to ensure people are not misinformed).
