I am a Physiotherapist in UK. My experience with my patients are either very good or very bad with nothing in between.
Also, I find that if possible, doing as much soft tissue and particularly posterior knee mobilisation and knee strengthening helps significantly post op.
A great progression in knee pain is tibial osteotomy, it works well, especially in the younger client.
    Thanks for video

My pleasure, I noticed that when break superficial/ deep scar tissue, release superficial/ deep fascia restrictions and decrease inflammation with ASTR tools, the recovery occur faster.
I am showing my approach in the following treatment videos ua-cam.com/video/ajVt5CW1obg/v-deo.html

I am 70 and I have a valgus knee with bone on bone for over 15 years and have had little to no pain associated with it. I have flare ups when walking for long periods of time but day to day have no pain or lack of range of motion. I have been weight training off and on for the last 7 years and it does not bother me doing squats. What benefit would I get by having my knee surgically repaired?

That person did not do the physical therapy right. It's so important, if not than scar tissue will form and cause the knee not to bend and surgery will again be needed.

Over prescribed?? Nope, I told my Doctor that I needed a TKR , I couldn't stand the pain anymore. I had my right one done, and I was thinking that I'm not having the other knee done. I thought I could get along with pain, well, I couldn't. My knee were so bad I was bow legged. I had very bad arthritis in both, and they were bone on bone.. I am now straight legged and they feel good. Yes, it's painful, but after a while it gets better. Before the surgeries I could hardly walk. Nothing helped unless I used drugs, and I don't want to take them. I believe that because I was very active when younger and put a lot of pounding on my poor knees, also my job was a big reason. If you can't walk because of pain, and if your bone on bone and have arthritis then consider knee surgery.

I completely disagree with you. I was an elite athlete early in life and damaged my right knee horribly. I had 9 different surgeries on my knee trying to avoid the total knee replacement at the early age of 38. Once it was concluded that nothing more could be done, I had the total knee replaced and I am incredibly grateful to my surgeon for doing it! I have my life back and am more active now than I have been in many many years.
I am terribly sorry you are having issues. May I suggest you speak with other ortho specialists that may be able to help you. I wish you well.

I find this video to be way off my experience. My surgeon is very experienced. He has done thousands of knees, everything you suggested as a problem did not happen, and I was well informed long before I did this and exercised my bone 10:24 on bone knees, extensively up until I couldn’t stand the pain anymore. I had very little swelling and you cannot see my scar unless you look really hard, so it’s good to read this to see what could’ve happened but none of it happened for me

I would tend to agree that surgeries are the preferred solution to a host of maladies, especially in the US, probably because non emergency surgeries are a profit center for hospitals and medical specialists.

So the title of your video refers to 3 secret "side effects" of TKR, then in the video they become surgical complications. Im a retired RN with significant experience in caring for orthopedic patients. And I would suggest pain and inflammation are NORMAL responses of the body in the healing process. To state they're complications is misguided information.

Both of my knees were bone on bone, so much so I became Knock-Kneed. I had both replaced 01 June and 03 August 2023. My knees were so bad I could barely walk and at times I couldn't walk. The presenter is off base in my opinion. Bone on bone accelerates the wear making the knee worse. Find yourself a good surgeon that uses the Mako Robot to guide the surgery.
Since the presenter is most likely in England, I'd take his recommendations with a grain of salt. Folks with the funds come to the US for their surgery rather than use the Socialized Medicine in Britain. Friday January 06 2024.

Have lived/worked in the UK, Australia and USA - worst and most expensive medical system by far was the USA. As for socialised medicine comment lets please note confuse politics with medical care/treatment. Instead vote for Trump and make American Great Again - a failing empire needs all the help it can get.
