    I’ve personally worked with this man, I currently work for the company he has moved on from. I can say that my man can lay them down. He wears rope, harness, glasses and bags. Uses his gauge on his gun to manufactures exposure, starts on his second nail ten inches in to benefit his gun placement since his gun is already gauging the shingle right underneath. He puts his 5th nail through at the end, always on the mark. To put all the comments to rest, he pulls out his hammer and hammers down any high nails. I’ve worked with him and his brother and I aspire and learn from them every day to be the best roofer I can be. Washington state roofers represent

    I am a homeowner with a day job who does not do anything construction related for a living. That being said I am working on framing out my basement and Bought this ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxHQsUrwNr5GQrnx9V4xDdUr56qxwuiBHt gun. I have done a few walls already, have probably shot a couple hundred nails through this thing and have yet to have a misfire. It works awesome, good depth on every nail if you have your compressor set right. My literal only complaint is that it is a bit heavy and my arm can get a little tired especially whrn I am nailing at odd angles. That being said I am super happy with it and would buy it again. Hoping the old girl allows me to get my whole basement finished out!

      He actually missed a lot. Over nailed it in the middle and nailed it too far back from the edges. Go back and stop the video. You'll see. So why are the last couple nails so close together?
    I’m obviously not a roofer, but shouldn’t the nails be evenly spaced?

    • @drewbaum
      @drewbaum 4 роки тому

      cnvw974 you leave a gap between nail one and two so you can put the seam of the 2 shingles above in the gap. This creates a nice area for water to pass through without fear of a leak. If you had a nail on or really close to the seam it would create potential for a leak down the road.

    I've watched this video 2 or 3 times and I've been trying to not comment. not be bashful. and I've actually tried to focus on the good in this video because there is some good. he's a very fast roofer. his shingles are probably straighter than you'd think. but my computer just cleared up and a lot of those nails aren't even close to where they should be. nails 2-4 are all over the board and the 5th nail he puts in the end of the shingle in the last run is closer to the seam than it is the edge. I wouldn't let him shingle LIKE THIS on my job. nail placement is key. I would tell him to slow the gun down a touch, put the dang nails where they go (at least 3 or 4 out 5 lets be real roofers here!), or come watch me do it. he's an animal for sure. but if you watch my videos, the nail placement is always correct, and I'm not blasting through the shingles as quickly as I can. anybody can slap on a square like this in no time w/o good quality and if that's all the point to this video was then well done.. but can you hold that pace all day? even for half a day, it won't last long believe me. slow is smooth, smooth is fast. good luck out there bud and shingle on!

This guy didn't need a hammer or a knife... therefore...he carried around that pouch weight for no reason lol it'll wear on you throughout the day and the week. Roofing on a Walker needs a gun in your hand, a knife in your pocket, and as long as you have a good gun and well managed compressor pressure you only need a hammer nearby. Nails can be spread out strategically so that they're nearby when needed and with experience you can place your hose in the right spot that you won't knock off many if any at all.. if you like that extra dumb weight by all means keep the dang bags on.
