  • The Demko-designed Ultimate Hunter folding knife. I was surprised by this knife! At under $100, it’s not cheap, but it’s also got a very interesting ratio of value to price. Watch for more!

I've been looking at this knife for a while and being a lifetime hunter you definitely sold me on it. I pretty much had similar expectations but I'll definitely be getting it now. Excellent review sir

Thanks for watching! It’s a great knife! Just watch the sharp edge on the lanyard hole 👍🏼🙏🏼🖖🏻

Yes, I watched a knife review for a knife I already own, lol. I agree with everything you said though...I think this may be one of the most underrated knives out there if you're looking for a heavy use folder.

I couldn't agree more. Anyone who buys this knife will be spending about the same amount as a WE Banter and will get this beast... it really is a no-brainer when it comes to value.

The only thing I would change on it besides what you said is make it a 4 inch blade instead of a 3 and a half

If I was using it for anything other than a backup for game around whitetail or mule deer size, I’d want that 4-inch size too. As a backup to a fixed-blade hunting knife, I’ll take the weight reduction for all the hours walking with it 😎👍🏼🙏🏼🖖🏻

Just ordered one of these. One of the Demko designs I still haven’t tried. I have a hard time trusting other lock designs after a liner closed on me.

What brand were you using and what were you doing?? 😂 I like back locks, but the Demko design doesn’t increase the holding power that much.
Ever notice how Cold Steel never shows other devices and designs when they show their “proof”? Y’know, like something they could be sued for? I did.
It’s an improvement, the compression part saves the handle material a bit and shear strength does the rest. Compression locks have a bit more potential through their I-beam design and how forces are transferred.
That all being said, this knife is a great EDC option I like for bigger jobs or something I would need it all-day for. The handle comfort is a huge factor along with Cold Steel’s heat treat of the S35VN. One of the best I’ve tried. I recommend it whole-heartedly. Just not for the back-lo… sorry, Triad lock. It’s secure, but still not something I’d baton with.
I hope you have a great knife experience, and thanks for watching!

@@adoseofdrew I’m not getting them simply due to strength 😂. I like the style. It was a Boker that failed on me tho.

@@tgonzalez1983 I don’t own many Bokers. They tend to be too heavy and their best EDC designs are shipped off to China.
I do like their designs in general though! 😎👍🏼🙏🏼🖖🏻

@@adoseofdrew I haven’t bought a Boker since. Not because I think they’re all bad or anything tho. Nothing they have speaks to me anymore as my knowledge increases on value/quality.

Dude....you talk more than I do! I try to keep my videos short and never(hardly) manage to keep them under 10 minutes.
But I did enjoy your video...so there's that! I have no ides how much you worked with the knife but it felt like most things you said came from experience which i liked.
I have a friend who owns one and I'm kinda waiting him out
    Thanks for uploading your thoughts!

I haven’t done any work with the knife specifically, but the description does come from experience. So far, it’s one of my favorites, and I’m not really a large knife guy. The contouring, solid build, and wicked edge combine with a really good price to make a very solid value. Thumbstuds help with deployment too

@@adoseofdrew well...i got one a while ago...but it's the s35vn which is not hollow ground. Still a nice knife. I sanded the scales down about 3 -4 times...i am currently testing out some steels but once/if i am done with that....the UH will be next on my list...so right now it's about #27

@@SpartanJohns the factory bevel isn’t very acute in my opinion. I put mine to the Worksharp Precision and got a 17-degree per side on it. Made it more slicey, and I have no plans of encountering bones or other material like it so the edge stability is still leagues better than I need. The heat treatment is great and I’ve never even had to strip it since I put the new edge on mine

I meant to say finger choil not channel

    • @adoseofdrew
      @adoseofdrew  Рік тому

Not too much difference 😎 I prefer a choil that is a bit like a channel anyway 👍🏼🙏🏼🖖🏻

  • @davidv3271

I wonder do you know if it would be difficult to deepen the finger channel in the G10 handle to stop you sliding down onto the blade just too deep in it a little bit I don't want to take away from the comfort of the handle and the roundness of it just to give it a slight dip and more of a dip inwards because there isn't much of a fingers guard to stop you sliding on to the blade and would it be possible to do it with Stones files sandpaper and of course a mask cheers Dave

You could, but at the expense of some utility, and risk it getting some debris in it. With the balance point so far back, it’s not very comfortable to wield with the finger so far forward however. You could, but once one is in hand, the ease of manipulation and comfort are pretty good. You probably wouldn’t want to after you got one and held it. 👍🏼🙏🏼🖖🏻
