Great video Fletch !!!! I have been looking for a wintch mount and thanks to you I now have a plan !! Keep up the good work for the Xterra community. I work in a machine shop where we take new semi's and convert them to logging trucks and then we built custom trailers to match the truck Some awesome semi's come through the door and we have a great welding and fabrication department !! Just what a off roader needs ? Pederson Brothers Inc in Bellingham WA !!!!!
Thanks Robert! Glad it was helpful! Sounds like a fun job, keep up the good work!
Nice setup, looks awesome and thanks for the tips
Thanks! Glad it was helpful!
Bumper looks great! Ive been looking at wench-capable bumper options for my X.
It’s a good, cost-effective option that maintains a mostly stock appearance. If you want some better recovery points and winch mounting capability, it’s a great option! Thanks for the comment!
Love this winch mount/bumper and hope to be getting one very soon. wish someone in the community w/some talent in the spec modding dept could design a printout for the cuts. I’d really like to maintain that cross member and maybe just make cuts for the shackle mounts only possible. Thanks for the vid- would not have known about them otherwise 👍
Awesome! Glad it was helpful!
Cool vid daddy
Thanks son number 1.
New to the channel and love it so far! I was looking into this exact set up with the WAM bumper but I was wondering if I could still fit a Stehlen bull bar in front of it. Do you know what the dimension is from outside to outside of the shackle mounts?
Hey Jacob, glad you’re enjoying it! I’m on vacation this week and out of town but I’m happy to measure it when I get back. How does the bulbar mount? This bumper uses the stock recovery hook locations and mounts straight to the frame so I just wonder if there would be a conflict there.
As it bolts into the factory hook locations, do you feel OK with doing a snatch pull of it?
I'm assuming a bridle would be used to split the load.
Either way thanks for showing how it installs. I'm not to far out from purchasing one.
Keep on keeping on
Thanks Andrew! I would feel alright with it. It’s been a while since I got that stuck, haha, but I got snatched out once by my stock hook and with all the attachment points on this thing, I would actually feel better about doing it off this.
They are over $800.00 now. Crazy!
Whoa, that's a big jump...
I have all the tools to make it. Cnc plasma, welder and metal break. Wondering if good market to come into
@@jgregg7100 absolutely. As fast as this market is growing, how can you lose? 👍
@@robertpoirier8520 I'm just not good at marketing my work. Haha I need a pimp 😂
Nismo is $1500
Great video and product Fletch. I’m going to get this bumper too. It says it weighs 55 lbs. I’m thinking of upgrading my stock Bilstein 4400 for either OME or Rancho Quicklift. What do you think of this additional weight up front? I’m going to hold off on adding a winch for right now. I’ve got an ‘05 X Off Road, 6 speed.
Thanks Robert! When I added it, I was installing my Nisstec MK84 front coil overs and I really haven’t even noticed the additional weight up front. Hope that helps!
I noticed you don’t have the stock skid plate, did you have to delete it because of the wam?
Great question. Mine's an SE so it didn't come with stock skid plates. However, I've got a bunch of aftermarket 3/16" steel skids and with the wam bumper mounting to the side of the frame rails (which is where that skid plate normally attaches), I have not fitted any armor there yet. I'm sure there's a way to fabricate something, but I haven't taken the time to figure it out yet.
You mentioned some other mounting options for the solenoid. If I didn't want to cut my factory bumper or do any other body work, what would some options be? Thanks!!!
Well, the cleanest/best way would be to just buy a solenoid relocation kit which gives you extended wires and you could mount it up in the engine bay. Something like this: amzn.to/3tjNZrr (although it may vary based on your winch-there's probably info on forums or FB groups from people running whatever winch you're running that could help with which specific one would work). Hope that helps!
@@AllThingsOverlanding thanks again for all the info!
@@LakeMartinVoice no problem!
Hello! And great information by the way! I was wondering if this setup will work on a 2012 Nissan Frontier SL 4x4 ?
I imagine it would. Pretty sure they're essentially the same. I'm sure if you look at the WAM website, they'll tell you if it fits the Frontier. It's a great, budget friendly option for being able to easily mount a winch.
It’s looks great thank you! I appreciate the info. Have a great evening!
@@jaautosandfoodtrailers2176 No problem! Happy to help!
I have a off-roading bumper that I just installed, can I still mount the winch to it?
It really just depends on the bumper. What bumper did you get? Does the bumper itself have a winch mounting tray?
Did you order this with the extensions or just the standard bumper?
Mine had the extensions on it. They do do a decent job of protecting what's behind them. I don't think they're completely necessary though.
How has it effected the angle of attack as you drive off road? Has it hung up on anything?
It actually raised it. Stock, the plastic bumper hung down below where this bumper sits, so by cutting it off and replacing, it basically improved my angles. Let me know if you have any other questions!
@@AllThingsOverlanding unfortunately they don't make it for 1st edition. At least I couldn't find it.
@@TheJackonager Yeah, I believe I've heard that they don't make them for 1st gens, :(
I came across this bumper the other day and it's exactly what I want.
Does it come painted, or does it come bare metal?
I bought mine used and it was already painted with bed liner, but I believe if you buy it new from WAM, there's an option to get it powder coated or painted. Otherwise, I think it comes as bare metal.
Great. Thanks for the info.
@@falkorr2002 Anytime!
What year is your X?
I’ve got a 2007.
Looking at getting this bumper.
Mine’s an 05
@@AllThingsOverlanding Did you have to make any modifications? or does the wincher just bolt on directly? TIA.
@@jonojeep4x412 it bolts right in but I had to make some cuts to the plastic bumper cover to make it fit. Otherwise, it just bolts to the stock recovery hook holes in the frame.
@@AllThingsOverlanding thanks!!
@@jonojeep4x412 Anytime!
Did the added weight upfront effect steering?
I really haven’t noticed any difference. The winch bumper isn’t all that heavy. Even when you add in the winch it’s still not noticeable.
@@AllThingsOverlanding Thank for feed back. I am pretty sure I will install the bumper. I just need to sort out how it will mount still keeping my Shrockworks Radiator Skid plate which uses the same mounting points.
@@mikep5336 Good luck! If you figure it out, let me know. I'd love to add a radiator skid if I could figure out a way.
Hey fletch, long time lurker now subscribed! Regarding the bumper, are you saying you cannot run any skids with it? I currently have all hefty skids installed and thought about adding the wam. However, if I cannot reuse my skid, I might have to pass....
@@krisleksas1236 Hey Kris! Yeah, so I don't have a radiator skid currently. However, I bought my steelies and MT's off of one of the guys who owns P&P engineering and while we were chatting, I asked him if P&P had a radiator skid and if it would work with the WAM bumper. He took a look under the truck and said that their radiator skid used the same mounting holes as the WAM bumper so he didn't know how it would work.
I guess, if it's flat, you might be able to sandwich both in as long as your bolts are long enough, but there are a lot of factors there.
How much is it and what is the website this is what I want so much

I'm fine with the OEM Nissan badge? :D
