My number 1 go to and most successful bait for the Cubera is the 6-inch Yo-Zuri Bull Pop. Sardine colour seems to attract the most hits, for me anyway. Here's a video showing most of the baits we use. I'll be shooting an updated one soon which will include some of the other lures we use: ua-cam.com/video/CSROXEtzods/v-deo.html
I really love your videos ....im cuban living in Finland and your videos Bring to me nostalgia and fun at the same time thanks for making them and sharing with the cubans outside our lovely island
Thanks for the packing tips , brought lots tackle for my friends in Santa Maria. Second day caught a 55 lbs carpon , wish I could send you a picture can't wait to go again. Thanks for the great videos.
Ive fished cayo coco and the pedraplen back in 1999. We fished areas that had never seen a lure. Amazing places. Im not sure you needed to travel so far on boat to catch fish but its good you did so we can see it.
Happy New year Shaun I'm glad u went back to cuba thanks for sharing your adventure with us I'll be there very soon not sure if I will go fishing to complicate for cubans to be allow to fish in cayo coco, right now I'm getting ready to tomorrow to the credit river for some steelhead/rainbows great video 👊👊👌👌👍👍
This is the best and most informative cuba fishing video there is🤝thank you! I was wondering how you transported your rods to Cuba? I’m from Canada and going to cuba in january. Was transporting equipment easy? Thanks in advance! I appreciate it
Very nice fishin, not alot of places you can catch cubera during the day time, 3 is a super great day. It is usaly at night you get the big Cubra by dropping a live lobster down on the bottom for bait. Never fished Cuba but heard some insane stories on some serious hot fishing before they opened it up. You thought you were going to eat some of your fish, sorry they were all ready going to the fish market $$$$. Cuba'still has a bad economy even with it being easier to go there now but don't expect a lot of catch and release there, it's a lot of fish money for the boat. I agree with you I would have released the 2nd and 3rd fish but I don't recommend pushing the suject there with the crew. You heard him when you said lets let the 3rd cubra go, excuse time from him @#@# $$$$ 👀 That was a great day of fishing you had. By the way that was a big queen trigger fish a very coman reef fish that he let go before you could take the photo I was suprized he let it go, great eating fish.👍
Why are you take the fishes in the boat with a gaff when you want to release them? You should better use a big lip grip, net or hand landing at the tail. Hammering wholes in the head with the gaff and then release ist definitely not the beat option…
@@jimlahey8210 It is... you will need your own fishing gear and lures etc. though... but still way cheaper than most other destinations... In Mexico I pay $800US per day
I am leaving next week. What lures are you using specifically for the cubera snapper?

davidauderset1440 --- I agree, It looks very bad with the GAFF in a fish body and releasing it. they should use the NET to grab the fish...
I'm gonna be in cayo guillermo at the end of the month. How much was the charter?
The boat and guide will run you around $230 Canadian for 5 hours... + tip
