      SCFC47 it’s really sad that you would rather see a negative side to this young man’s success. Nobody can deny that music is influential, and he carries weight, but.... if you listen to the album it says more positive things than you might think. 25 and living his actual dreams. I’m just happy for him. That’s hard work and discipline. It’s not nice of you to suggest he doesn’t deserve the reward for years of hard work. We can all learn from the man. Remember he’s only 25, or there about a.

    • @alexanderblake3569
      @alexanderblake3569 4 роки тому +8

      @SCFC47 Fair points. I just like to take the view that sometime things aren't so sinister. Maybe his hard work just paid off and fortune actually favoured the brave. Maybe the 'responsibility' landed in his lap as part of his achievements. At 25 I think he's quite graceful with it. And to be fair, his music IS influential at this moment in time. He's no Nelson Mandela - I hear that; but he's still growing. Allow him to develop.

      Prophet of regret he is in an interview , thoughts racing , at the same time trying to not speak with too much slang for the Americans to get lost, add that on top of the fact that this is pretty common thing for someone from a hood in London to talk like this when explaining something, he’s hardly gonna be doing a rap interview talking like he would to the Queen if he met her.

      Tk Kirkland hmm well hip hop was started by a Jamaican immigrant called cool herc it may have started in the states but it’s origins are in Jamaican dancehall! But that doesn’t negate the fact that NY drill rappers are using UK drill beats and riding the wave, it’s not a problem but let’s just be honest about it. For decades uk MCs paid homage to the Americans in many aspects they licked yall asses. Now we have our thing and it’s booming comparatively speaking. Especially when NY the Mecca, is jumping on a uk wave. All we ask for the same respect and acknowledgment we gave yall. That drill sound has been prominent in the uk for about 6 years now yall are actually late to the party. Same with Afro beats

      Brits and their need to always undercut Americans for not being smart enough to understand their slang and culture. It's the same thing under every video with a British rapper being interveiwed by American media or on an American UA-cam channel. Stormzy didn't say anything that they didn't understand smh. Even when he used even the simplest slang at the very least it was still crystal clear what he was trying to get across. Most Americans are like normal people, if you don't understand something, you do your research ESPECIALLY the ones who are interested enough to even be watching a Stormzy interview bc most American still don't listen to British rap/Grime/U.K Drill etc apart from those of us who are more willing to expand our music palette before it eventually becomes somewhat mainstream over here. Y'all act like your slang is soo deep and difficult to understand. Personally just from being a fan of the scene and watching interviews of British artists especially on British radio and shows like top boy you pick up on it mad fast. It's really not that deep and if someone still doesn't understand there's always google...

    The thing about grime artists now and grime elders is that there’s not that much of a generational gap but so much has happened success wise. It’s evolved very quickly whilst still holding very dearly onto the roots. So new school grime artists like Stormzy will get a lot of pushback and ‘hate’ from some of the old school grime heads because they were expecting him to carry on the genre in its purest form, like when he did the song ‘Shut Up’. That was a pure grime song and just like overly pushy but proud stage dads, the grime elders were hoping he would carry on the genre as THEY once created it. Once Stormzy became his own man and evolved from grime and added other sounds to his sound- that’s when beef starts. Hip hop has gone through the same thing also but it’s sooo big now. So I wouldn’t expect for a new hip hop artist to get push back from old hip hop heads anymore.

    • @beedebawng2556
      @beedebawng2556 4 роки тому +1

      Lies. Ugly negative people will always find a reason to beef. Wiley is one of those people.
      If they cared so much for grime they would carry on as grime artists and be great at what they do and make grime big. Even drill is now bigger than grime because it sounds better.
      The truth is, they are grime pioneers but not very good artists and Stormzy just proved it by destroying Wiley who has been doing grime for years but couldn't even put together a compelling grime record in this beef.

    Stormzy is articulate in his music... When he's being interviewed he's more aware of his words and is trying not to swear. H.I.T.H...Plus this is an American interview...he has to dumb down for this audience. These guys don't give him the chance to explain himself... Like when C.T.G interviewed Anthony Joshua...This seems like an interrogation , not an interview

      As an American I can say I understand his raps far better than this interview that he supposedly needs to 'dumb down'. An actual rapper that can't talk is something I have never seen before, the trash ones sure but he isn't trash.
      Which leaves me wondering, outside of your racism, if he is understandable in UK interviews?
