Challenge: play bots but you have to play twice with each piece you move, for example, if you play pawn to e4 and Martin plays pawn to e5, you lose the game because you can't move the e4 pawn

I'm not concerned about tricking Martin, to a losing position, but how the heck do set a checkmate under those restrictions ?
@@j.thomas1420 It would be restrictive, but there are a few ways you can have mate-in-2 where both moves are the same piece.

When the queen is just a disposable king but still scares the enemy king
Something crazy I'd love to see is every time you capture a non queen piece it's removed but then upgraded and placed somewhere on board. To decide where it's placed (if you're playing white) start at a8 and try to place it, if the square is occupied go to b8, then c8 ect. If all of the 8 file is taken then go to a7 and continue until you get an open square. How the upgrading works, captured pawns promote to bishops or knights (whichever he has less of, if it's a tie do bishop) captured knights and bishops promote to rooks, captured rooks promote to queens, captured queens are permanently removed from the board
Good cop bad cop chess you play normal chess against martin but he and stockfish switch moves (martin plays a turn and stockfish plays a turn)

Idea: Normal chess with no twist, but every time the eval moves more than 1 point you have to explain why it did so. If it's mate, you must show the mate. If you can't you lose
Challenge: Martin is scared and you can't capture any of his pieces or check him(unless checkmate)

Checkers Chess: every time you can give a check, you must do it. And if you can't put Martin in a check for more then five moves, you lose. If it will be to easy, then play with the same rules, but with taking.
Idea : You play against martin but you can only move your pieces as many times as the points they are worth ex. pawn 1 time bishop 3 times rook 5 times king infinity times
Chess but after moving any piece, the next move is a king move. For example, you start with e4, then next move must be a king move, but then you can move anything, and like that until checkmate.

Idea : you have certain amount of points at start like 30 or something else. Every move you play decreases them by the value of the piece you moved. And you can earn points by capturing opponents pieces.
Against Nelson the knights should movenormaly.
Challenge: Chess but you spin the wheel (a-h).After you spin, you need to move any pieces or pawns to that file(example if you get a, you need to move a piece or a pawn to a-file).If you can't move any of your pieces or pawns to that file, you lose.
Or respin because it's will be very common towards the end for no piece to be able to move to a file

Challenge: Double-check chess. You have to treat every check given to you as a double check. This means you can't capture the checking piece or block the check, you have to move your king. If you can't move your king, or you actually get double checked, you lose.

Challenge: assassin chess. Pick a random non-king piece and capture it before capturing anything else. Then pick a new one (and so on).
Other versions: only pick major/minor pieces and no capturing pawns until all major/minor pieces are taken. No checks until all major/minor pieces are taken.

A little sketchy that checks requiring multiple moves were recognized, but I guess with a computer, there’s really nothing to be done, so I’ll let it slide (after all, it led to a pawn checkmate, so I can’t be that off-put).

Regular chess against Nelson, but every 10 moves add a pawn in a random file to Nelson's 7th army. (If Nelson plays white pieces add pawn to rank 2. If Nelson plays black pieces add pawn to rank 7.)
chess with Martin but you use a dice to determine what type of piece you move
for example 1=pawn, 2=knight, 3=bishop, 4=rook, 5=queen, 6=king. If you cant move after you roll, you lose.
To make it so that you dont lose on the first move, you only start rolling the dice on the start of your 3rd move. You can play any move on your first 2 moves

How about regular chess, but your pieces are not allowed to move through attacks (sort of like the castling rule). If an opponent’s piece is attacking a square, your piece must stop on it or before it.
Play with Stockfish 16 and it must be without pawns. It will have a space advantage but a lack of resources.

Someone already win against Martin using just a single pawn and the king. Just push the pawn forward, take anything in the way until you have a queen. Then clear up the board with said queen. He barely ever capture anything.

Challenge: You can only move TWO squares at a time. So your pawns can take 2 steps forward from the start but then they're stuck. Your king can't move at all EXCEPT to castle king-side because it's a 2-space move for both the king and rook. Knights can move because sqrt(5) rounds down to 2.
Suggestion: Delete all martins pieces (execpt pawns,queen) and your setup normal then give martins king 10 lives (Lives=when martins king is checkmated -1 live) Rules are you must put the king (if checkmated) on a safe square where there is no checkmate follow up and yeah Good Luck

You do realize that the scholar's mate won't work, because when your queen finally arrives at f7, black's king can just take it, and not be in check.
Also, the final position is NOT checkmate, because e5 is undefended.
Challenge: Your pieces have ADHD. If a piece moves, it also has to move the next 2 turns.
