Homemade Christmas gifts are the perfect give to give this holiday season! Sizing / Finished Measurements: 12-inch X 5 inch Supplies Needed: 127 squares of fabric (2.5 inches X 2.5 inches) 3 squares of fabric (2.5 inches X 7 inches) scissors or a rotary cutter and cutting board 270 straight pins (flat heads) 1 Styrofoam cone (12-inch X 5 inch) You Will Also Need: Ribbon or buttons or any type of garnish you would like to add for a topper to your tree. Patten Goes As Follows: Row 1 (Bottom) - Row 4 ---- 12 squares of fabric Rows 5-7 ---- 10 squares of fabric Rows 8-10 ---- 8 squares of fabric Rows 11-12 ---- 6 squares of fabric Rows 12-15 ---- 4 squares of fabric
I double the fabric, then bring each end in the middle and then pin, makes it look even better! Made mine last night, it looks so cute, little angle on top!
I love these trees. I have one started using Jingle Pop 2020 and ran out of squares. LOL Now I have to cut more. This is great cause you can stop and start with out thinking where so I go now. Thank you for your video. 👍 👍👍👍
I like simple projects like this. The tree actually looks like it would be harder to make. I'm definitely going to be trying to make a few of these. Thanks for the video.
I have a styrofoam cone and I was wondering what I was going to do with it and now I know what to do, thank you so much for the idea. I love this video, you made it so easy.
I have made these trees for several Christmas now - 5 different sizes too. I love them and such an nice gift. My problem is I think I need to give at least 3 different sizes so I have probably made more than 20 or possibly 30. Couldn't find your video this December when I started to make them again but happy I found it again. It is january but I am making them for next year since I seem to give more away than I have time to make in December.
I made quite a few of these for presents this year and they are fun to do and a great craft for a tween to do with her Gran-ma. A tip for anyone making them, I used sequin pins which I got at Michael's for $3.99 for 800, got several boxes, the sequin pins are only 1/2" long and fit into the Styrofoam cones easier than long ones and they hold just as well!
The tree is lovely one Idea came to mind since you don't make bows. Use a small cookie cutter for a star and cut out one of inter facing and two of fabric. Iron together with a small piece of floral wire sandwiched between them and stick in top of tree. It could be removed each year for storage. I think I will give it a try. Thanks for sharing your talent with us,
Thank you so much for your video!! The JoAnns Store in my town loves me. I usually buy all there pins and cones.. I have made the 6", 9", 12" and did two 15". I love making these since I am a caretaker it keeps me busy in between. I also do the ornament balls. Thank you again.. I just finished two red and white with a red and white bow on top and the other one with red and white ribbon with a red bells. Love them.. :)
I can't wait to get started. Going to make a cowboy fabric Christmas tree for my friend's baby's nursery. What a fun craft. Don't foresee any hiccups! Great instructions!
I have made 2 small trees and 2 large ones. I just can't stop! I have been able to use some leftover fabric, too. I cut up a LOT of 2.5 inch squares before I started. I don't even count the number of squares for each row (actually forgot to, but turned out o.k.) Thanks so much for your video!
O. M. G. I have a fetish about trees for Christmas decorations... I make new decos every year (pretty sure I've got close to 20 different trees that I put out aside from the usual ones to decorate with lights and such😳😂) and this is so darling and beautiful and SIMPLE! I LOVE IT! I get fussy about cutting fabric for any project, but I'll make an exception for this because this is just too precious not to try. Thank you for sharing! ❤❤❤
Rachel, thank your so much for your wonderful teaching, and it is so well explained step by step. I am from India, I am going to use this idea to teach some rural girls so that they can learn and produce it for sale and earn some money for their living. I will look forward to see for any new ideas. Thank you once again.
thanks for this video. just got back from fabric store. i will make 3 in Christmas fabrics but i think i will also make a few in shades of brown so i can leave them on the fireplace mantel all year. i like the feel and look of country in my home :)
I love jelly rolls, the fabric is so cute, but I’m not a quilter, so I never buy them... now I have an excuse! I think this tree is adorable and I wouldn’t have guessed it is no sew. I’m definitely making one.., or two. Thanks for the tutorial!
Rebecca Rezac Thanks for watching! Enjoy that quality time with your grandkids! They will cherish that time forever! I know I cherish all the time I spent with my grandma growing up. Such fond memories.
Wow, this is so cute. Thank you for this. I would continue adding the petal like folded squares at the top for a flower look, then a button in the middle. Great job!
Thanks for the really clear video. I am such a visual learner. Shared with all the ladies in my quilt bee. Someone had made these for centerpieces at a luncheon we all went to, and they became door prizes. Even though I didn't win one, now I can make one! :)
One thing I thot of for the top is finding a large star button, glue a toothpick to it n stick it down in the top of the tree. Use the pointed end of the toothpick in order to get it thru the fabric.
I tried making a couple of these in different sizes. Watching this i now know what i was doing wrong.....im not good at doing straight lines and i need to make sure my fabric squares are all the same size- I just estimated. Thanks for sharing!
I love this, THANK YOU! I'm always teasing my family with trying to find all sorts of fake Christmas Trees, this one I'll actually follow through and make! It's sweet as can be. :) (and I can't kill it like I do the tiny live ones)
lol I hear ya! I kill live trees too. That's the reason I've only had 2 my entire adult life. I'll never have another either. ;) Thanks for watching. I'd love to see what you come up with. Be sure to share your pic with me on IG or Twitter @carlynicoleYT.:)
Beautiful! I'm so doing this. I've done the quilted fabric Christmas ball last year from another channel but, I love this fabric tree. Thank you so much for sharing your time and talent. I'm a new subscriber and I'm so glad I found your channel. I'm such a big crafty nut. Lol! God Bless you!
Thank you .So cute. I usually shy away from quilting but someone posted how to find you on Facebook and I followed their instuctions. I think I can do this. Merry Christmas!
+Happy Cluck I just watched again for a refresher since I am finally making one. I meant to tell you that your background music is perfect! Very relaxing, festive and not too loud. Many people play their music too loud or play obnoxious music. I really enjoyed your tutorial video and have it saved to my UA-cam page. Wishing you a Merry Christmas!
Lovely carlynicoleelliotte I have just moved house so Christmas is chaos this year but I definitely will make some of these fabric trees for next year.
Just made two 20 inch trees. My fabric is not shiny so I am thinking of using some glitter on some bottom edges to make them shine . Thanks for the great craft.
