And that’s what separates the wheat from the chaff. ‘Cuz it doesn’t take much to be a one-trick pony or to become an accidental parody. Slipknot know how to balance melody with abrasive aggression in a way that complements the content of the lyricism contained within the song. You do not have to be at a thousand decibels and nine-hundred BPM throughout your entire album. In fact, it kind of rates itself redundant. It no longer means anything. You have to know when to go there, then the impact will be greater.

I got into Slipknot pretty recently, and they're already in my most listened artists on Spotify. Non metalheads would think this type of music will make me violent and depressed....but it's the exact opposite. I got into Slipknot recently too and I have 43 years old. I use to avoid due popular opinions and other things, but now they are in my top list. The last album it's amazing, it's just incredible, specially under a culture and a world when those whom critique this band are the nuts and dangerous people's.

I remember after Paul died and Joey was fired, that I clearly didn't gave 2 cents for Slipknot. I didn't listened to the singles of this album when they came out. Later I decided to listen to this album. The intro "XIX" already gave me chills. And when I heard corey's "yeah" in the beginning in this song I remember thinking how wrong was I for giving slipknot for dead. Amazing record, amazing comeback. Filled with rage, sadness and triumph.
Custer got a grammy nomination. Custer's fucking awesome and all... but this is what i feel should win the Grammy... or at least get the nomination
Custer was nominated for best metal performance live. (I'm speaking from going to one of their concerts) sarcastrophe is pretty sic live but, Custer definitely deserves being a nominated Grammy. May be the best part of the show.(besides spit it out)

AHIG was a great album, just a little too Stone Sour sounding. I'd put AHIG at 5 tho. .5: is sounding like a wonderful piece by Slipknot, a lot more dark and percussive than AHIG, Very Vol. 3 and Slipknot sounding. Actually it reminds me more of MFKR

I'm a pretty confused teenager in life. I feel lost and hollow. Doesn't talk at all and just gets lost in the crowd. Rock and metal fills that gap because they've helped me so much in my life. Without these guys and this genre I would've been stuck with crappy pop and rap and probably would've gone insane (literally). Thanks slipknot for making my life have a purpose.

This definitely tops their previous two albums. My top 3 favorite: 1.Iowa 2.Slipknot (Self Titled) 3. .5: The Gray Chapter........ Vol. 3 was my least favorite. It was alright, it felt more like a hard rock album than a metal album tbh. No hate cause rock is amazing, but in terms of Original Slipknot vibe, The Gray Chapter is definitely that. They went through a lot of shit over the past 6 years. This is truly the comeback of the year. Rejoice maggots, they gave us a solid album in dedication to Paul, and he would be smiling to see how good of a tribute they made to him.
I think Vol. 3 seemed less like a metal album because of the lack of vulgar language were use to from slipknot at that time. (Someone said that corey couldnt write music without cursing so he made a whole album without it. :P)

At first this album wasn't too special to a lot of fans, including myself...but after listening to most of the songs, I've realized how amazing it is. A lot of great songs on here that balance out the musical creativity, instrumental talent, vocal talent, melodic knowledge and heavy attitude that makes up Slipknot. The perfect mix of everything that attracts listeners to the band in my opinion.

I am a gen z adult, and this is my favourite Slipknot song from all the songs. Know the lyrics by heart, and just love this fuckin song. I really, really love Metal music, and Slipknot a lot. They helped me through some really fucked up times.
But, there's one thing wrong with my country. I wish that the explicit version for The Gray Chapter was not locked in my region, as it is my favourite Slipknot album!

If you don't like this song, you either just aren't a SlipknoT fan, (Which is fine) or you are never going to get out of the SlipknoT Iowa era and won't like ANYTHING.. The reason I say this is because this song is crazy good and one of the heaviest songs SlipknoT has made. Heavier and more diverse riffs than most anything in Iowa (I LOVE People Equal Shit but come on, the riffs were simple, and don't even get me started with Heretic Anthem) the growls are crazy in this song, and the screaming in "WE ARE KILL GODS" along with the harmonized vocals distant in the back during it is epic.
So unless you just hate SlipknoT, anyone who is a SlipknoT fan can't diss this song because of it not being Iowa.. This song could have easily been on Iowa.

Iowa is my favorite album, but this one comes in a close 2nd. and i agree with you. bands evolve their music style over the years. people want it to be like a previous album then bitch that its the same

He should if he wants to keep his voice.
I've seen some concerts late 2016, not personally, just online and his voice is the best it's been since the disasterpieces tour. It's probably because he quit smoking. Because in 2015, probably when he was still smoking, his voice wasn't very good.
