3 1/2 years later, and I still can't believe he's gone. He was someone I looked up to (even just as a fan), and was the main reason I started checking out goth music. Rest in peace, Warrel.

Still miss this criminally underrated metal vocalist. A true legend in the genre and what a fantastic speaking voice too! I thought I had a deep voice, but I guess I was mistaken lol
what a great guy ;) I would like to have a few beers with this chap. such a down to earth guy.
What a legend...it amazes me how careful he was on his speech, knowing he was not with a native English speaker. This makes a hell of a difference for us that aren't native.

Além de cantar pra caralho pense num cara gente boa. E deu pra ver q ele se emocionou ao contar sobre o brother com esclerose multipla. Não tinha a menor idéia que o cara tava pirando no Brasil. O metal deveria ter mais cantores do que gente que grita. O cara ta ae mostrando que isso da muito certo.

That was an excellent interview. Well done that woman. I've only just seen it. Lots has been said about Warrel and his demise. I'll just say I didn't know he was a chef but there again I don't delve into an artist. What I'll say is thanks Warrel for all the metal you've made. I love everything from day one of Sanctuary.

sanctuary is best band where this guy was ever, best album in sanctuary is, into the mirror black, clearly, heavy power 'proge' metal mix, but album is a masterpiece absolutly, maybe one of the best album in the 90's! i have album in vinyl and record Mark, music on vinyl, one best company in this world..
For me is one of the best album in the 90's either! It's obscure, beautiful melodies, great riffs and solos, awesome bass lines and a clear production! The first one is fantastic either: brilliant "atmospheric" parts, powerful riffs and one of the best covers of all time (White Rabbit). And the voice of Warrel Dane is almost perfect
I wonder who he is referring to when he says "shitty european power metal bands' I find it a bit odd since all his work has a spark of power metal to it. but much respect RIP Dane Your work will live on forever.

Well Still Nevermore has definitely some power metal sounding riffs and guitar solos and that double kick drums. Also his band was in a power metal sampler I got from Century media. Lets see Nevermore has toured with a lot of power metal bands, they were in the power metal section at some music store I went too. But I'm not saying they are directly of that genre. but you can't deny they had a bit of that sound unintentional or not.
Yeah, not to mention his voice is very classically and dramatic sounding which i would say is a common thing in power metal. I do think his themes and lyrics are shitload more clever and interesting than the average dragon chasing power metal band though. I can imagine he would find it uncomfortable singing something in the style of rhapsody xD He was also much into the doom stuff i believe. Think i saw him wearing a candlemass shirt in some photo.
