I enjoyed every bit of this. Didn't get a bad vibe until I read the comments. Beautiful images! Fun to watch you figure out the how and where issues. Well done.
+Scott Hollingsworth Oh, and thanks for the discount code! I might just check Whitewall out.
Cool and Very Informational Video.
I liked that it took me from the beginning of the "Problem", then addressed each element of
the project (including the proper lighting) and then displayed the results.
IMO very well done video.
I've done test prints before too. It really helps make the right decision. Also, love those metallic papers.
Pretty cool! I would have never thought of ordering test shots to see how the photos look on different mediums. Thanks guys!
Whitewall is great, bought a 75*50 print from em and it looks gorgeous.
Best thing is that they send you a box for free with sample prints (even on pvc metal etc) and various kind of paper so you can choose the best one.
Just stumbled upon their site from watching an ad they have running on UA-cam, so cool that Fstoppers worked with them as well. I was previously going to print with Duggal in NYC but they're several hundred dollars more expensive for similar stuff. How's your print holding up?
As far as I can tell it's still great, however it's a photo paper print behind pvc, so it should be extremely durable.

I use White Wall for my prints as well. Their service is impeccable, and I find them to be quite reasonable for the quality.
Looks stunning.
Anyone wants to buy a kidney😂😂😂
Matte picture looks best with matte dirt... Glossy looks best with shining stars and good sky colors... And metallic looks best on metal skyscrapers... I see a pattern. I think this video just made my printing process much less trial and error
I am confused. If you have an image sandwiched on Acrylic why go for a mat print. Can you see the paper subtilties behind the acrylic.
Curious why they would not print directly to acrylic. Plaskolite makes a gloss(OPtixDA) and standard acrylic(OptixDA/NG).No need for mounting and the images we received off a Swiss Q printer look mint.
This has aged VERY well! 👍🏾
Looks great! I'm refinancing my mortgage as we speak!
Doesn't adding the glass in front change the look?
A few thoughts come to mind, First off if its going to be covered with acrylic anyway, what difference whether you use super gloss, or completely flat ? It will be the glossiness of the acryytlic covering that determines the glossiness of the finished product. Secondly, the test prints are nice for color, but if one was interested in detail and sharpness (which I sure would be) they should have sent a crop of one of those photos that would represent one of those photos printed at the final full size.
Your first point is not accurate. You can totally tell the different type of paper underneath the acrylic. I believe the Matte paper comes with a slightly matte acrylic but even with the glossy acrylic, you can still see the differences in paper underneath. -P
awesome..just got my first large matte print from them....looks amazing..love the packaging
I just mounted a high acrylic print. The problem is the reflectiveness during the day.
Best acrylic prints I've had are Bumblejax and Bay Photo. Bumble has trouble getting the color right, but the acrylic is always very nice quality. Bay Photo print quality is top notch but acrylic has been screwed up a couple times (damaged) but the customer service is so good they always refund or send replacement. I almost always go with Bay now.
I've heard bad things about White Wall.
I know Pro Lab Digital also does acrylic but I'm turned off by the fact that they charge tons of money for the "quality" (must pay more for more "care" taken in each print).
Please mark your commercials, otherwise it's getting ridiculous. Anyway, the prints looking great.
+Vendetta Completely agree.
great, love the NY shot
Thanks for emphasizing the need to light the prints properly for the best possible results. I'm seeing that too many print buyers are falling prey to the metal and acrylic print craze and only realizing after they mount their prints that the reflections are unbearable. Hopefully your video will make people think twice about how to light the prints before making their purchase.
Did you soft proof? If so maybe make a vid on how to softproof? These prints are not cheap to get wrong.
had a real bad experience with white wall,
they failed on three occasions to send large glass framed images without them breaking.
Was most disappointing.
Here in the UK now my business solely uses Loxley colour. Their products are breath taking!
It's not their fault if they break in the mail. They've maybe start packing them more safely. However nice to hear that the problem wasn't in the quality of their prints
I like whitewall. I've been using them for the past three years and they do have great sleek prints and frame for large expensive prints plus they have great customer service. I have also used the other company you mention which also give you great prints for your buck.
You guys are my new favorite channel!
Where was the NY photo taken from?
whitewall are amazing!
They look great!
So just ordered my first print on Whitewall.
This was helpful! Thanks!
WOW the prints look stunning. But the cost means i'll have to carry on printing my own 13" x 19" for now unlike Damian below I only have one kidney.
just watching this in early 2020... prints looks great. curious what is the resolution of those photos? am curious how large one can reasonably print 60x40!
These were all shot on the D800 or D750 at the time so they are around 24 - 36 megapixels. They look great up close. -P
Fstoppers thanks!
Fstoppers that’s amazing
Who did you go about cropping the photo with Ligtroom and inputting the aspect ratio or did you crop them in Photoshop? Thanks!!!
Fantastic video. Love to see you guys actually print your awesome pictures ;)
Very nice! I'm curious to know at what resolution these were printed (DPI of image file resolution before upsizing).
If I remember correctly, he shot the astro image with a 24mp d750, which gives 6000x4000 images. Printing that at 40"x60" would be 100dpi.
Lower dpi levels are ok for huge prints, but a higher mp camera would have helped in this scenario. (As long as it's capable of comparable IQ)
Really helpfu video - order two B&W's for my house.
Would have been nice to print on acrylic, and light the window from the opposite side.
How would Yes! As an option.
Brilliant video. You really should do more videos on printing.
nice job ! Looks great
Very cool very creative
You probably didn't pay for the prints
+Aziz Humraz Who cares.
Awesome !!
Excellent
Much t oo dark. I think you did not fit the monitor brightness for the pre press. The monitor brightness should be around 80 caldera. You can read that at Whitewall. I made that same mistake too but my damage was not 700 dollar *3.
What file size did you upload to get these printed at that size? I have our local Hospital hosting some of my photos and was going to use acrylic.
Great video, I found ir very interesting and informative
love it ♥
What resolution are the pictures in?
what kind of track lights are those?
Something I bought off Amazon. I've since demoed this studio and rebuilt it and used tilting recessed lighting for a similar effect. -P
Will we see these images in Puerto Rico? 🤔
We are working on new images for PR :) -P
oh wow really cool ... but def ridiculously expensive
Awesome kewl!!
thanks f stoppers for posting this video, i have been trying to find a great acrylic photo printing shop in my home town with no results. I am definently going to check out whitewall.com
I thought this video was great. Anything photography related.
The only white wall prints i have seen were inkjet which is ok but no where near photo prints.
Can you still get us a 20% off coupon? I wanted to try some but the price is too high. The 20% makes it justifiable. I tried your coupon and it doesn’t work anymore considering the fact that it’s 3 years ago lol
Hi,
I've had 5 acrylic 20x16 prints made without a mount. They are supposed to be shown in a photo show, and I was instructed to bring them with a wire in the back. I found a website (www.bobestrin.com/mounting-metal-prints.html), where there was an explanation for how to do it for metal prints. But when I tried to glue the wood pieces to the acrylic print in the back, the glue seeped through the image, ruining the print. Sigh. Good thing I only tried to do one so far. So sad.
Do you have any suggestions for how to attach a wire to these prints for hanging in a gallery / photo show?
Thanks
Ah that was so depressing to read, I feel for you man. I was thinking of saving 60 odd Uk pounds igonring the hanging hardware too. Now I know to just go with it. Hope someone with some real knowledge comes along to help if this issue is still pending to be resolved mate...
looks good except for the shadow
Type: "bighead silicon valley" into google images.
I envy you guys ..
Those are not worth 800....costco does same thing for 200
Kodak Metallic paper sucks why didnt you stick with Fuji
Love your stuff guys, but if you are being paid to sponsor a company, or receive any sort of funding when you are discussing a company you have to share that with your fan base. It seems disingenuous to do otherwise. We understand you guys have to make money from your videos, it's a business after all, but just tell us about it.
+Captura Camera They don't legally HAVE to disclose anything. At least not in the United States where they are based. However, the fastest way to lose your fan base is to be disingenuous and not transparent.
+Raylor I actually thought this video was very interesting and I wish for more like this. I hadnt had the feeling that this was just a 10minute ad. However I give you that that they could've made a better video if they took the time to elaborate which pictures they chose and why and more about how to perfectly light them.
BLoggers and Vloggers actually are required to disclose whether paid or compensated with free product in exchange for talking about a company or their product. It called truth in advertising and is covered by the FTC Act:
"If you mention a product you paid for yourself, there isn’t an issue. Nor is it an issue if you get the product for free because a store is giving out free samples to its customers.
The FTC is only concerned about endorsements that are made on behalf of a sponsoring advertiser. For example, an endorsement would be covered by the FTC Act if an advertiser - or someone working for an advertiser - pays you or gives you something of value to mention a product. If you receive free products or other perks with the expectation that you’ll promote or discuss the advertiser’s products in your blog, you’re covered."

I've seen nothing but horrible reviews about whitewall
So what's wrong with them?
